Lilibet, I pray you are right. I would like nothing more than to wake up tomorrow (or one day soon) and read that this whole situation has been diffused, the perps locked up awaiting trial, and not a single life lost. And that this was all due to a brilliant plan laid out with this end in mind.

I will be the first to smack my head and say "that was GENIUS!!!"

I mean that sincerely, I really want to be amazed and impressed. It seems lately I am too often disappointed and disheartened by the way people behave.

Just because I am a cynic doesn't mean I am not capable of embracing my inner Pollyanna!

And I will be the first to let you serve me crow, cooked anyway you like, if I'm wrong!!!

My inner cynic and Pollyana are constantly duking it out.

Oregon standoff: Idaho group arrives to 'secure perimeter, prevent Waco-style situation'

http://www.oregonlive.com/pacific-n...sf/2016/01/oregon_standoff_idaho_militia.html

“BURNS — Members of a group from outside Oregon arrived on Friday at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge to "secure a perimeter" around the compound and prevent "a Waco-style situation."

The arrival of the "3% of Idaho" was the latest development in the situation outside Burns, where an armed occupation of the refuge by an Ammon Bundy-led militant group entered its seventh day.

"They just keep an eye on everything that is going on" to make sure "nothing stupid happens," Bundy said Friday afternoon outside refuge headquarters.

"If they weren't here," Bundy said, referring to the Idaho group, "I'd worry" about a Waco-style siege by federal officials.

The group's website says it stands for "freedom, liberty and the Constitution. We will combat all those who are corrupt." The website displays the motto, "When Tyranny Becomes Law, Rebellion Becomes Duty!"”

So, did the Cheetos arrive? Been too busy working for a living. Thinking about taking over the office here, but don't want to miss the playoffs.

I will add Cheetos to my demands. Come on down, SeaChiq!

Don't forget your gun. That way you won't get shot.

Do you have a blue tarp?

I would never serve you crow. I honestly hope you are right. And I feel ya on the duking it out....

I want Jack Bauer to sneak in at zero hour and take out the whole operation with no innocent lives lost. (But please no Chloe in this episode). Feeling nostalgic tonight....

I'm still over here going "Militia? Are we back in the 1700's?"
And 15 pages later that's all I got. :dunno:

The militia may not realize that they are going against a hefty government force with hefty government penalties when caught.

So hopefully they wake up soon.

Yeah, this is the penalty

If you stop and think about it won't it be easier to wait until they break up and pick them up 1 or 2 at a time. Divide and conquer or as translated from the Romans, Divide and rule...

If they don’t ambush and kill a couple of LEOs (like Las Vegas) between the time they brake up, and the time they are picked up.

  • #692
Haven't they run out out of mac and cheese yet?

Sure wish LE would hurry up and make good on their threat to cut off power to those bozos, and to block off the road. Somehow doubt those freedom fighters can get cell phone reception where they are, and it surely is mighty cold there without heat.

Freeze them out.

Oregon standoff: Harney County group asks Bundy to leave but takes on his cause

http://www.oregonlive.com/pacific-n...sf/2016/01/oregon_standoff_harney_county.html

“BURNS — Members of a local group previously affiliated with Ammon Bundy, the leader of the armed militants occupying the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, indicated Friday that they now want him to leave.

Before the occupation, Bundy created a website for the Harney County Committee of Safety, named after the "committees of safety" that served 18th-century revolutionary interests before the United States won independence from Great Britain.”

*

“The group – led by area businessman Tim Smith, the vice chairman of the Harney County Republican Party, among others – intends to organize and unite the county around the issues Bundy has raised, several speakers said at the town hall meeting. Bundy, a small businessman from Arizona, is the son of Cliven Bundy, the Nevada rancher who led a standoff with federal authorities in 2014 over unpaid grazing fees.”

*

“A resolution drafted by the committee and read aloud to cheers and applause supports "the development of a plan to provide the expedient, systematic and harmonious transfer of all currently managed federal lands within Harney County to the jurisdiction of the people of Harney County."”

Much more ...

Insurrection? Sedition? Shadow Governments? Lots of possibilities come to mind.

Indeed. Bears watching, IMO.

The Bundys didn't ambush and kill anybody in Vegas.

The people who did had been their friends and fought along side them and share the same philosophies.

Only the names are different. JMO

Heavily armed 'security detail' shows up at Bundy encampment, guns drawn

Members of the Pacific Patriot Network, a consortium of several groups from Oregon, Washington and Idaho, arrived mid-morning, carrying rifles and sidearms and clad in military attire and bulletproof vests.

Their leader, Brandon Curtiss, said the group came to "de-escalate" the situation by providing security for those inside and outside the compound. About a half-dozen rifles were visible among the two dozen new arrivals. They aren't staying in the compound, Curtiss said, but are patrolling the perimeter of the reserve.

The ornate sign that used to greet visitors with "Welcome To Your National Wildlife Refuge" now advertises the headquarters of the "Harney County Resource Center" in white block letters over a blue background.

Because de-escalating with guns always works. JMO

Yep, yep.

On Saturday, militants openly drove government-owned vehicles and heavy equipment around the compound, proclaiming that the trucks and backhoes now belong to the local community. At the same time, they limited access to the refuge buildings, arguing that letting reporters and photographers inside would pose a safety hazard.

Meanwhile, members of the Pacific Patriot Network guarded the refuge entrance with guns drawn and masks concealing their faces.

"No comment," one of them responded when asked what kind of gun he was carrying.

And then this happened:

@ColeKOIN
Finicum returns to make statement, "put long guns away" #KOIN6News

I guess Finicum aka Blue Tarp Guy really was just glad to see MSNBC earlier this week and that wasn't a rifle he was carrying that night.
