I'm on a youtube live stream and not sure who the dude is streaming it but he's ready to fight until death along with some others. He said the children have all been removed. It's called Defendyourbase.

The guy is ready to die & is locked and loaded with plenty of ammo hanging off of him. I wish they would just go home.

I'm not at all surprised by their spin. I've been saying this all along. The comments of their followers show the extent of their influence.

Now they have their martyr. I'm sure Finicum's actions were for the purpose of dying at the hands of LE. Martyrdom by cop. JMO

I'm sure that they're planning on enshrining his tarp someplace appropriate. Most likely outdoors, probably overhanging livestock, I'd suggest a chicken coop... I'm sorry he's dead but when you have confused armed people standing up to LE what do you expect?

Finicum unarmed? Really? Since when? I call BS on that and also think he intended for cops to shoot him, having lost face and tarp.

I am sorry that I cannot muster up a kind word to say for the deceased, so I will stop here.

As for those arrested? Bout freaking time.

I also want to note *rumor because FB* that I have read some scary threats on FB posted to people who made comments celebrating (or just not mourning) Finicum's death.

So please be careful if you post using your real name on SM. I would not put anything past these loons. Be safe, friends.

That was probably his only exit strategy. Honestly I think he'd been fantasizing about it.

BURNS – Robert "LaVoy" Finicum, the spokesman of the refuge occupation, was shot and killed after he charged police during a roadside stop north of Burns on Tuesday, according to a man on Facebook who claims to be the driver of one of two vehicles involved in the highway shooting.

Mark McConnell posted a video to Facebook Wednesday morning, recounting the Tuesday afternoon scene that led to Finicum's death and the subsequent arrest of eight people involved in the Jan. 2 takeover of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge.

I agree. He wanted to go out in a blaze of glory.

Addressed to no one in particular

Is there something wrong with Ryan Bundy's face? It looks as if he's had a stroke. Does he usually look like that or is it just this picture?

ETA: I see from this article that the FBI has established checkpoints along the roads to the refuge and only local landowners will be allowed in.

Something horse something something barn door.

I'm watching that youtube live stream. It appears it's David Fry streaming via his phone. So far I've counted about 8. Three women, it appears. Several just went to go the restroom only using blunt words about it.

They are hoping more militia shows up soon...

(they should shut this stream down but it does give them insight as to what they are doing, I guess)

They are like little kids playing war.

It looks like they're doing nothing, and I get the feeling the people left behind didn't sit with the cool kids at lunch.

.@OPB has left the compound entrance, along with @KGW, @KOINNews @fox12oregon and several journalists. We determined it's not safe.

And, Sara Sidner on CNN just reported similar, that FBI has suggested that reporters move away.

The livestream has failed (a few minutes ago). Are there any others?

More cops are arriving headed south on 205, with vehicles carrying Porta potty's roadblock equipment, etc. #OregonStandOff

There are several armored vehicles and what appears to be a Blackhawk-like helicopter outside that Burns airport. #OregonStandoff

I'm wondering now if Sheriff Palmer was actually working with the feds to draw these guys out. I'd like to believe that scenario much more than how it appeared initially to me!

I was wondering the same - mostly because I prefer that to the idea that he was earnestly behind the militants.

I was anticipating some trouble at the meeting due to the fact there were to be counter protesters in attendance and I'm wondering if LE did as well, prompting them to finally take action. It's a real possibility they chose to take these guys down when they did to prevent even more loss of life. That said, I don't believe this is over by any means. IMO, there are plenty of others at that refuge who want to go out in a blaze of glory.

He was hit by a car as a child which caused permanent nerve damage, IIRC.

There is a picture (mugshot) of Ammon without his sombrero at this link:

Also,

“One of the men now claiming the mantle of leadership for the remaining occupiers, Jason Patrick, said he gave up an $80,000-per-year roofing job when he set out for Oregon claiming, “the Constitution is more important.”

Patrick will likely be behind the microphone when the protesters speak. He wouldn’t say how many people remained with him at the refuge, but Patrick told The Washington Post that occupiers weren’t planning on leaving because of the arrests.

“Right now, we’re doing fine,” Patrick said. “We’re just trying to figure out how a dead cowboy equals a peaceful resolution.” Patrick’s comments could have been aimed at Oregon Gov. Kate Brown who asked for “patience as officials continue pursuit of a swift and peaceful resolution.””
