One would think so. In any case, I have no interest in looking to find fault with LE after they have largely resolved, peacefully, a situation that could have resulted in a great deal of bloodshed and additional damage to fragile and sacred land.

The only sympathy I have is for the people of Burns, who still don't have their town back, and for the Native people there whose artifacts were desecrated by violent, racist, antisemitic cretins.

I think some of it is sensitive information (maybe referencing the case or identifying the aircraft and pilot?) and instead of blocking out only that they just blocked out everything.

My kid took one look at a frame of the video, knowing only that the FBI was shooting the video from a helicopter, saw the black bars and remarked- huh. They're obviously censoring specs....as in, related to their surveillance cameras.

I didn't think it was any more complicated than that either. Bravo to the feds for releasing the video this quickly.

Most of life ISN'T black or white, and people aren't either.

Unless we're talking monsters without conscience, it bothers me when deluded people are vilified as totally evil and deserving of hatred, bile, and death. We are ALL flawed.

Finicum helped cause a lot of damage, no question. And he probably did choose his death. But are those the actions of a healthy rational person? Can we really celebrate his death as something he deserved?

In the category of things not being black and white, it is possible to think his death was something he deserved yet still not be celebrating it.

It's possible to think his death was deserved but was also a sad, stupid, tragic waste.

From other similar videos I have seen the data usually includes time, date, GPS, speed, direction of travel, flight information like altitude and lots of other technical information that I don’t understand. I have no idea why they would go through the trouble of blocking out that type of information. It doesn’t make any sense to me. Just like it doesn’t make sense to me why they edit videos and then claim they are unedited. Do they seriously think people are not going to notice? I don’t know.

But really, does anything that's occurred here make sense? LE could have (and should have!) taken action LONG before they did.

Although I think his death is a sad, stupid, tragic waste, I can't go so far as to say I'm sorry it happened.

No one made him abandon his family, and uproot from another state, to go up there. No one made him remain there for weeks. No one prevented him from surrendering peacefully, as others did when they had the chance. No one made him speed away from the stop. No one prevented him from exiting the vehicle with his hands up and keeping them up, which probably would have kept him alive.

No, I think he chose his own cause and manner of death--a privilege most of us, like those overtaken with cancer or some other terminal disease, or those killed by drunk drivers, for example--don't get.

I can't dredge up even a milligram of sorry for him.

What does he mean Harney county used to be the most profitable and is now the least profitable county in the state? I would think Multnomah or Clackamas are the wealthiest. Plus the refuge has been there for 100 years and there's a reservation in the county. Neither of those would be profitable.

Gold mines might bring in money but not indefinitely and it wouldn't be the fault of the government if the gold ran out.
