Found Deceased OR - Owen Klinger, 18, University of Portland, 6 Oct 2019

Checking Amtrak's web site - can be as low as $35 for a ticket to Seattle, $64 to Bend Oregon, $135 to San Diego.
My gut is he hopped a train to go somewhere hidden to commit suicide. Parents and friends should be thinking hard where he would take the train that might cost up to $150 or so. Somewhere meaningful and where his person could remain hidden for some time.

I didn’t like “liking” this, but it makes sense.

(i don't think this has been posted yet...seems like it's info released today.)

Video Changes Search Area for Owen Klinger

"Video from a TriMet bus has helped Portland Police change the area they're searching for missing University of Portland freshman Owen Klinger.

The video shows Klinger walking West on North Willamette Boulevard, not North as police previously released..."

Yes, this was what I was implying in my post about Amtrak ticket prices to Bend and Klamath Falls and mentioning the possibility of self harm last night. It’s very painful to think along these lines for family and friends (and us), but it could narrow down the search somewhat if he had a favorite place. Unfortunately, ones who have hidden themselves for this purpose are usually only discovered by accident. :(

They are also asking Uber and Lyft drivers to see if they picked up anyone in that area on Oct 6, matching Owen's description. Is it not possible to get records directly from those companies?

Did Owen have an app for one of those? I wonder if the parents have his apple or android sign-on info.

A charge from Uber/Lyft would show up on his credit/debit card activity, so that would be easy to detect and trace to the exact trip.

Is it a fact that he did not intend to go to the lacross meeting? Is it known where this meeting was, and if the direction he was walking in wasn't in that direction?

Well he was walking off campus and the Lacrosse practice would have been on campus. Also he lied and told his roommates it was only a Lacrosse meeting, not practice when they questioned why he wasn’t bringing his equipment. I think it’s a safe bet he was never intending to go to practice.

So I’m wondering, especially with the latest crime info his parents shared, if there was a problem with someone from lacrosse not necessarily with Owen but with someone he knows or something he witnessed.

Could he have been going to meet with the other person involved in the crime , maybe victim?

I’m always a hope for the best mentality, so thinking the suicide route is a bit hard for me.

Do we know if he was practicing a lifestyle that others didn’t know about? Not necessarily drugs?

I know we can’t sleuth others as there are no suspects, but I wonder if had anyone in his life with a less than stellar background?

I just want to add there are many missing teenagers from the Portland and Surrounding areas that are getting zero consideration from the media. Gazzette Times a Corvallis newspaper, is the only site I can find when searching some of the names.

There may be something far more worse happening and I wouldn't be surprised. Lawlessness invites all kinds of bad things. With so many recent disappearances nobody seems to be linking anything together publically anyway.

The hoover criminals are all over Portland now and they don't play by any rules. Known for sex trafficking, fake Facebook luring murder robbery and assassination style killings for status. Cops are even fearful of them as stated they werent trying to start a war with them in media after a shooting of one of their members.

I've also tested the Portland Oregon gov site on many platforms and found it vulnerable to several hacks including Man in the Middle Hack. The site also indicates no monitoring or firewall. The site is on a shared ip and shared hosting with 300 other sites. This means tipsters could be at risk by emailing detectives valuable info. Please call.. no emails to PPD.

Could not find any "safely returned" on these missing teens in Portland and Surrounding Oregon for any of the 35 plus kids missing in the past 3 months. I didnt search them all but seems like a huge spike for Oregon. Some real scary crap out here!

I just noticed watching the PPD video posted on their flasnet site that the video is much clearer. Also, he crosses the street in front of the parked bus when the street light is green and he doesn’t have a walk signal. The first street he crosses with the walk signal. A white car turns at the intersection and he crosses on a green traffic light with the wait signal seen. Maybe no significance, but you wonder if the white car that made the turn hollered something that made him more alert so he crossed vs waiting?

The club teams at UP are like intramurals. No penalties for not showing up, especially with midterms week. As far as I know they don't drug test. As someone else mentioned, students were on midterms and immediately after on break, student media is run by students, so would make sense why they've been absent from coverage. Someone mentioned that drug talk might be against this rules of the forum, and I apologize because I didn't think of that before posting about the study drugs theory. However his parents did say he was into vaping cannabis, which he would be too young to legally buy, and his dad mentioned in an interview he might have gone to buy vape things (even though he could easily have gotten vape OR addy on campus). Again sorry if this was out of bounds!

So far the least astute posts on here, people saying "why isn't the lacrosse team releasing statements, or searching?" Gotta remember the team is undergrads, kids 18-21, it's a CLUB team. For all we know the coach(es) and organizers may only be in their 20's. They specialize in throwing balls not speculating on disappearances. So do we really need this group up behind a podium, just stammering uhhh, and then, uhhh? Not very realistic, or even in the same realm as a major athletic program having Coach Urban Meyer or Dabo Sweeney hold a news conference.
Totally par for the course that UofP would only want the Klinger family to be seen in the media, longer this drags on UofP will have legal council and media liasons steer them farther out of liability, or brand name being associated with danger and crime.
When something traumatic happens on a campus the official policy is ALWAYS, students keep at your studies, report what you know but let the adults and LEO handle our on campus crisis. Not speculation, i'm someone who was a COED during the DC sniper crisis, and a really severe active campus shooter incident.

The drug theory seems like a huge stretch at this point - the only evidence to indicate that he maybe was using/experimenting is the cash withdrawal preceding his walking off campus and that is highly circumstantial. However, I just wanted to note that, from personal experience, yes, Adderall is highly addictive. If you’re taking it every day and stop, you will feel like absolute 🤬🤬🤬🤬. $150 is enough to buy a quantity much larger than just getting through midterms. As far as speculating that “he didn’t look like he was on drugs”, well, You wouldn’t be able to tell by someone’s walk whether or not they were on Adderall, specifically. They may just be walking a little more hurriedly than normal. What you can see is that he’s briskly walking, long strides, doesn’t wait until the crosswalk changes. His family speculated that he looked to have a normal posture and gait. So he’s walking normally, maybe slightly hurried and/or distracted. My instinct says he either went to meet someone off campus and things went wrong, or he intentionally went to disappear.

I hate typing this because it sullies the progress Oregon has made in Cannabis decriminalization but maybe the $150 was meant for a straw purchase at a dispensary (cannabis at a state licensed dispensary that checks ID, only serves adults over 21, cash sale no debit cards). Perhaps the group text was sending out feelers to see who had pot for sale, or was willing to go make a straw purchase. Time frame matches up because all dispensaries are allowed to be open until 10pm.
This is all speculation, maybe the Cannabis would have been a nice way to unwind after stressful mid terms, or a good treat during days off classes.
Very hesitant to post this because i don't want to fuel right wing viewpoints that states with legal MED/Recreational dispensaries are somehow tied to crime. Nobody on here needs to start naming area dispensaries that could have been in his projected path, they are found just about every square mile. Anyone doing that would be needlessly slandering a local business. I already regret posting this, its fuel on the fire for Lars Larson/Limbaugh types. This is all my personal speculation, another spin on the robbed for $150 buying an item off clist/narcotics/alcohol.

Getting rolled for $150 in straw purchase scenario. Considering Craigslist item/Adderall/Cannabis as things that Owen (generalized college freshman under 21 may want to purchase). Toss alcohol in there too, spirits are only sold in specialized Liqour stores, but a shopping cart full of beer could have been obtained at Fred Meyer Grocery.
I've travelled through college towns like Gainesville FL or Madison WI and i have seen large scale beer runs go down like this. But in present day St. Johns NOPO neighborhood shoulder tapping is asking to get robbed, being seen with multiple cases of beer, box of tequila bottles would surely draw attention from terrible people.
If all my posts on here do anything, i hope it sheds some light on even good, smart kids like to party when their 18. Parents with local prestige in the careers and a catholic university can't really gloss over this fact of life. 18 yo kids sometimes the growth leads to events that parents find uncharacteristic.
Perhaps Owen wanted a large supply of vaping product, as we have had varying rumors and erradic statewide bans placed on certain vape products within the past month. Don't know the facts on what was banned when. Vaping a more discrete way to smoke cannabis/tobacco on a monitored campus like UofP.

RE: yet unnamed train channel on owen' youtube list;
One youtuber who has train hopping video is a former snowboarder and motocross rider named Trevor Jacob. Majority of his channel is snowboard/dirtbikes/bmx but some train stuff in the past also. If Owen' other 40 subscriptions are snowboard/dirtbikes maybe he just had a subscription for those aspects. very loose speculation on a tiny, tiny detail in this case.

I don't think he was buying anything that would induce short term memory loss before a midterm. I don't think he would get kidnapped / robbed for 150.00 either. I think he had a plan and the unknown group text hopefully will shed some light on his activities. Every detail released gives us insight but also a great deal of speculation.

You should watch the last interview with Owen's parents, they address the notion of buying cannabis off site, and said that they knew Owen vaped cannabis, and U of P students said LOADS of students vape weed, and it would be so simple and easy to get cartridges on campus or in the dorms.
