An analysis of video from multiple sources shows that no objects were thrown before the police set off concussion grenades into the crowd at the protest. One of the concussion grenades struck a protester in the head, and medics credit a bicycle helmet with saving his life.

Pull quote: "None [of the videos] appears to show projectiles thrown by counter-protesters prior to the use of riot control weapons by police. Two of them, in fact, appear to show both officers and counter-protesters relatively calm in the seconds leading up to the first shots."

What has it come to when people are seeing the Nazis as the good guys?
Which ones are the Nazis? Antifa? Patriot Prayer? I just wish they would all protest in peace. That's not happening, though.

Violent Proto-Fascists Came To Portland. The Police Went After The Anti-Fascists.

And yet, when police decided the standoff was too tense for comfort, they targeted the local anti-fascists. As officers lobbed flash-bang grenades at them — ear-piercing explosives that temporarily disorient the senses — Proud Boys and Patriot Prayer members cheered on the cops, claiming victory against the “violent leftists” they’d come expecting to fight themselves.

One police flash-bang canister reportedly pierced an anti-fascist’s helmet, cutting into his head. “I’m certain he would be dead if he wasn’t wearing a helmet,” 39-year-old Jenny Nickolaus, an anti-fascist demonstrator and friend of the victim, told HuffPost. “The trauma nurse said as much.”
...
As cops chased anti-fascists through the streets, Patriot Prayer and Proud Boys were also on the move, marching west from the river into downtown. (A couple had been injured, having reportedly walked through a throng of anti-fascists, and had cuts on their heads.) They were flanked by police in riot gear, who never engaged them despite demanding that they disperse several times.
...
Later, journalist Brendan O’Connor reported on Twitter that some Proud Boys “sprayed bear mace” at a group of anti-fascists as they drove out of Portland.

Anti-fascists across America have long accused police of siding with, and protecting, white supremacists and fascists. Earlier this year in Newnan, Georgia, heavily militarized police charged at anti-fascists demonstrating against a neo-Nazi rally, pointing guns in their faces.
Well, if Antifa wasn't so violent, perhaps they wouldn't be getting into so much trouble.

Oh yeah, Antifa is the one where they hit people with large bicycle locks and split open their heads. Someone should issue scorecards to tell all the crazies apart.

But, were they wearing Pinochet shirts? Both sides are violent men. Blaming one side or the other is disingenuous. It is a symptom of the great divide in the US.

It's very common in the US for people/groups to do what they accuse opponents of doing per Karl Marx philosphy. Not sure about Germany.

Antifa exists here to fight Nazis, neoNazis, white supremacists, the KKK.

People sometimes call antifa “the real Nazis” to make them seem the same, or to confuse the issue, as if hey, maybe the racists aren’t so bad and we should listen to them too. But only the white supremacists are the Nazis. They use their symbols and language, they refer to themselves as Nazis or neoNazis. They share their beliefs. It can’t be much simpler than that.

Antifa wants to fight (literally fight, whatever it takes) Nazis.

I don’t understand how people think being a Nazi is a matter of opinion.

You can be be opposed to both antifa AND the white supremacists/Nazis. But they are not the same.

Blaming both sides makes the Nazis not seem so bad.

Nazis want white supremacy, genocide, isolationism, etc.

antifa wants to stop Nazis.

Simple.
