Hi all. Just wanted to bump this case that has stuck with me for a while, especially cause of all the distinctive jewelry she had on. I feel that an identification could be possible if enough eyes see it.

I have come to call her Portland Jewelry Jane Doe for distinction purposes.

Jane Doe was found on May 31, 2009, floating in the Willamette River in Portland, OR. Her body was specifically found near the Swan Island boat ramp, in what is now called the Swan Island Basin. Photos I found on this blog show the ramp area as it was in 2014. It was estimated that Doe had been dead for at least six months due to the intense decomposition, which unfortunately has meant there is currently no facial reconstruction.

Doe had her gray hair in a long braid. She wore a size 46 DD bra and a blue hooded sweatshirt with white and blue ribbing. If she wore anything else, it was not found on or near her. Distinctly, Doe was wearing a good amount of jewelry, all of which has been photographed and included above. Specific pieces include:

  • a blue dangle hooped earring with beads
  • a silver necklace with a heart-shaped red stone
  • a woven beaded sunflower necklace
  • a rainbow rubber bracelet that says "Embrace Diversity"
  • a yellow rubber bracelet that says "Live Strong"
  • a gold ring with a purple stone
  • a rainbow woven string bracelet
  • a gold heart/shaped necklace with translucent stones
Her exact cause and manner of death are not publicly known. Given that she was found in the Willamette River, she likely drowned and may have committed suicide. But that is pure speculation on my part. Given that she had been dead for months, it can be assumed she was in the Portland area during the winter of late 2008 or early 2009.

There are currently a whopping 25 exclusions for her on NamUs. But perhaps this forum can help find someone out there who does match.
