I'm guessing the computer accident happened because:

Searches had been conducted on it for property law and/or missing people, declaration of death, etc - even crime and forensic sites.

Or

Someone was afraid of what might have been said in emails etc.

There are more than a few pleas for help out there, from people who have spilt coke or soda on their laptops. Seems that coke is one of the worst, so it's interesting coke was the beverage involved in Stephanie's particular accident. I wouldn't be surprised if there are searches for 'help I've spilled liquid on my laptop' on her computer too.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20110819193512AAyMYbt

I know we can't post what was said or anything, but did anybody manage to capture any interesting social media, before the inevitable deletions came? Especially any that talked about hunting, fishing, trailing, favored places, etc?

BBM

From what Dicentra said earlier, it sounds as if the laptop sat around at the repair shop for quite awhile before LE picked it up. I hope the work was done immediately, if coke is that bad.

I believe there was a post here that was deleted early on that talked about the laptop and the coke and what was on the laptop. I have some recollection of bunkers... Calling Dicentra! Also was it a couple of weeks before she disappeared, or more?

I've poured over what I can see of social media for people even remotely connected to Stephanie or POI and I don't recall anything you mentioned off hand. I will look again.

I'm going to make a separate post about a movie filmed in the Applegate that POI is promoting. There are some interesting locations shown.

Thanks for taking an interest zweibel.

POI promoted a short film called "Liberation" on his YouTube channel. It was filmed in the Applegate Valley according to POI. There are some locations that could be found on Google Earth, such as an abandoned cement structure and a large gravel pit.

Here is the trailer on Helias 314, with his description. Interestingly, the film is by Wolf Brothers! There is a pointed message at the end of the trailer from Helias/POI. "If they kill the good wolf you'll know that it is time. Fear not."

Check out David's channel for "One Man's terrorist" and more, filmed in the Applegate area of southern Oregon. Time is growing short for this Nation, which side of the Line are YOU standing on!?

Below, I've posted the link to the whole movie, which I managed to watch (about 18 minutes), despite the blood and violence. The cement structure is shown from a distance at 10:26. There are closer views from about 8:50 (maybe earlier) and other shots of the gravel pit up to almost 13:00. There is probably more, but I don't have time to get detailed. Be sure to read the film maker's description. This was based on a scripture and done for a contest.

I agree Sad Eyes. What we do for Stephanie!

Personally, I never watch anything violent "for entertainment." The whole premise of this film was offensive to me, right down to the end implying Jesus' approval. I'm not sure what scriptures they are reading! JMO, MOO...Not trying to start a debate. :)

I'm just glad there were some potential locations to sleuth for our efforts. Now I will go wash out my eyes and start cruising on Google Earth.

I think you're right, Lilibet and scmom. A beautiful house on beautiful land, (land that could possibly make him some money) close enough to his camp, at no cost to him. The perfect place for him!
It is my understanding that POI and Steph went through lots of ups and downs and he just kept coming back with his tail between his legs and her kind heart would take him back in. But maybe this time was the last, maybe she was done with him, for good! It also seems like the entire situation with son, dil, POI, and Steph was extremely volatile. Those 4 were not a good combination.
Also, just curious, is he getting government assistance? Wouldn't surprise me but it would show his true colors, using whatever means necessary to benefit himself even that which he hates! Sickens me, all of it!!

Thanks to everyone here, big hugs!!
WHO DAT!! (had to add that in, it's been 2 weeks, I'm needing some Saints football! Stephanie would love it!)

Big hugs back!

WHO DAT!! At least until they play the 49ers in a few weeks. I may just root for the Saints anyway, although we'd be a house divided. My problem is that I'm usually just happy for whoever wins because I know how happy they are. I'm not good fan material at all. :)

I agree about the volatile combination of the four of them, although some of Stephanie's FB comments to son in June seemed to be very loving. Maybe she was trying to mend fences for POI's sake. I wish she had kept a diary.

Ames is only 60, so he's not eligible for social security yet, unless he's got some sort of disability. I can't imagine that he's ever worked at enough normal jobs to even be able to collect SS. But he did mention having auto-deposits made into Stephanie's bank account. Perhaps his youtube revenue? I doubt his hatred of the government would prevent him from accepting benefits, even though he's possibly managed to avoid paying taxes for some time.

I've been reading this thread for a couple of days & getting my head around it all! I'm afraid I can't offer much, but I just wanted to say WOW - you guys have produced some of the best sleuthing I've seen on WS. Amazing work :)

All fingers and toes crossed for Stephanie's safe return to her true loved ones, I can't begin to imagine the pain you must all be feeling :(

Welcome Graceholl! Thank you for taking the time to read this thread. If you have any comments to add they would be greatly appreciated. You may see something that we missed, so don't hesitate to chime in. This is such a complicated case and it would probably be just one clue to break it wide open. We just NEED that 1 clue!

Lilibet we making you an Honorary Who Dat Fan!

Maybe Dicentra would know if Stef kept a diary.

Never know Lilibet he just might be on SS disability. That would definitely explain the auto deposits as you mentioned.

Game over Who Dats came through for Stephanie! I pray one day Stephanie gets to read this!!

WELCOME graceholl!!! Thank you for popping in all the way from the UK. We've been very fortunate with the sleuthing...and still very frustrated. We appreciate any observations you can offer. We never know whether some little thing we say will provide the lightbulb moment for LE. Stick around, please. Just knowing you're reading helps. :seeya:

Awwwww...I'm honored to be made a Who Dat fan. :blushing: It's been a perfect football weekend at our house with wins for the local Ashland Highschool Grizzlies, local Southern Oregon University Raiders, 49ers, Saints, and Oregon Ducks (Who Quack!). DH is very happy.

I agree that disability would be very possible...all that hard work mining and the stress of court cases, dontcha know.

Yes, wouldn't it be wonderful if Stephanie could read all this.

POI refused to get on any government "lists" but he was NOT opposed to using Stephie's food stamps. He also had Amanda and Jared get on food stamps so they could all "stock" the bunker with long-lasting food supplies. POI wasn't opposed to using the government or, apparently, anyone else, as long as he wasn't directly involved. He felt the government was "corrupt and evil" and that he was one of "God's chosen few." YUCHHHH! Just had to wash out my mouth from the BAD taste!

After Amanda physically assaulted Steph, (matter of public record), she told them that Jared and Amanda were not allowed on the property. I was FIRM in supporting this stance and when she began to waver ("They are doing so well, I just want to be a good Christian and open my heart to them...") I'd remind her that she PROMISED ME she would NEVER allow someone who'd put their hands around her throat back on her property; that being a "good christian" and being irresponsible to self-care when assault was involved, were TWO very different things! I believe she WAS trying to mend fences with Jared and Amanda. She was such a supportive person, and she wanted everyone to like her (don't most of us?), she couldn't stand it when people were angry with her for any length of time. She desperately wanted to be loved the way she loved people and she had a difficult time discerning imbalance.

I believe she was becoming disillusioned with POI, beginning to see him for the person he really is; the arguments had become more frequent and she'd changed her gate key just before she disappeared (another thing I told LE he should immediately check out, as the person who came, multiple times, to change the gate key would have gotten an ear-full about the Lenny/Lonnie situation and why she was changing the gate key...again).

Amanda's mother hadn't arrived yet, but isn't it strange that a POI would immediately move Jared, Amanda and her Mother into Steph's home right after she went missing? Amanda and Jared had JOBS in Ashland. They quit their jobs and just up and moved to Steph's home in Ruch without ever looking back! And WHY would Amanda's MOTHER pick this time in her life, with this particular tragedy happening, to come all the way from KY to join them in ONE ROOM (which was what they were renting in Ashland) with two small dogs?

What can you tell us about the bunker? Was it something they would live in (like a bomb shelter) or just food storage? Do you know where it was? Was there more than one? Do you think Stephanie knew where they were? My concern early on was that she was being held in a place like this. That seems less likely now though.

<snipped by me>

<snipped by me>

Was it her gate key-pad Stephanie changed or a lock? I've always wondered how access was gained if her gate was locked July 4. Whoever brought her car back got in somehow.

I could be wrong, but I don't think we're actually supposed to name anyone but the POI, if I understand the WS rules correctly. <snipped by me>

Thanks for any answers you have, Dicentra. Oh, and did Stephanie keep a journal or diary?

Stephanie told me that the bunker (that's what SHE called it) was extensive. She described a large HIDDEN area stocked with 10-years worth of food, living supplies, ammunition and guns! Stephie told me that it was so carefully hidden that you'd be able to "walk right over it and never know it was there." I know that POI & son went up there to put some kind of pepper around it to thwart the bears and any dogs that might be in the area. When I first heard about the BUNKER, I expressed my DEEP concern re the individuals she was hanging around. Steph's mother can again, corroborate all of what I'm saying. She was the ONLY other person that has the level of details I have; there might be a few people in this area she could have talked to about the Bunker, but by in large, it was "hush-hush," per POI.

The $ POI had auto-deposited to Stephanie's account came from two sources; 1) U-tube video $ and 2) the paralegal work he does for MD's somewhere in CA.

The key pad I'm referring to is an actual pad that you type numbers into. In addition to the key pad, there were 2 remotes (they function much like and resemble garage door openers). She ALWAYS had one of the remotes attached to the visor of her SUV (it was a BIG "no-no" for anyone to TOUCH her remote, it was ONLY supposed to live on her visor. There had been a recent, BIG blow-out over POI removing her remote and leaving it in the glove compartment of HIS truck several weeks before she disappeared. Anyone who knew Stephanie KNOWS about the remote rule, they also know that she NEVER, EVER leaves the doors to her home or her automobile unlocked.

When I arrived to check on her Sunday, July 7th, the back door to her home and the driver door of her car were both open. The remote was MISSING from her visor. The SUV was NOT parked in her usual spot, her SUV was parked OVER in spot #2, next to the tree. If you GPS the house, you'll see there are TWO areas where one would park, side by side. Steph would always park her SUV NEXT to the house because she would be unloading food and water (she'd fill gallon jugs from my house, liked the taste of my water better, her well had a slight sulfuric tinge), so she always parked next to the house.

Sissy never gave keys to POI or any of his "gang." She gave me keys and the spare remote, so if she ever lost them or needed them, she'd always know where they were.

She used to keep one when she was younger; as she got older, she would write small snippets of poetry and she made incredibly beautiful alters/art spaces, dedicated to the people she loved. There was an alter to her beloved Mama, and there was a beautiful space she created for us. Pictures, prayers, quotes, letters and cards we'd given her, acorns, dried flowers from my mother's garden, all of the silly things my son had given her over the years... She'd kept it all. I can't begin to express how painful it was to dismantle those love-sculptures. Still haven't been able to go through my box of treasures yet. I thought we'd wait until she was found before I reopen that wound.

Dicentra,

Do you know if LE has found the bunkers?

Also, I can't imagine how hard this is for you. I can just imagine her little alters because I do the same thing. I know you are going to have a hard time going through your box of treasures but those are wonderful memories you have in that box. Try to let your memories give you strength to cope with this. And never give up hope! Sending you hugs again! You are a wonderful person and I can see why Stephanie adopted you! Praying for Stephanie to come home so you can open the box!

The individuals concerned sound a danger to any member of the general public at large to me, and to individual law enforcement officers. Bunker mentalities very rarely lead to good outcomes, and quite often lead to catastrophic ones.

Thank you, zwiebel. What you wrote is what I have believed since I started researching these people. I don't know if it explains LE's handling of Stephanie's case, or her family's silence, but if it does, I would understand.

  • #180
Thank you for your answers, Dicentra. What a gift Stephanie left you.

To summarize what you've told us:

The bunker was secret, large, well-supplied, and well-hidden.

Ames' income came from YouTube and work he did for a doctor. I wonder where that money goes now.

The remote opened the gate, so anyone driving Stephanie's car could enter her property. It's very strange that Ames would put the remote in his truck knowing how she felt.

You noticed that things were not as Stephanie would have left them.

Ames was not given keys or remote by Stephanie.

More questions (of course):

Do you know if LE ever found the bunker? Had Stephanie actually been there?

If she didn't give keys to Ames and crew, how did they all come and go when they lived there with Stephanie?

Was the missing remote ever found?

Do you mean the back door and driver's side car door were both wide open or just unlocked? Did you discover this before you went inside?

Did you go in the front or back door? Were you alone?

Had LE been called yet before July 7? When did you or her Mom call them? Can you describe what you all did from the time you started worrying about Stephanie until LE got involved and started searching July 10-11?

Were her car and house keys inside the house? I seem to remember that they were. What about her cell phone? Her wallet?

What about the animals? No one had fed them for 3-4 days? Were they frantic?

What was your initial thought about what had happened?

Did you treat the house like a crime scene and leave things undisturbed?

Did you give keys to LE? Did they secure the house? I'm wondering how Ames and crew were able to move in a couple of weeks later.

Thanks again, Dicentra. I'm just trying to get a clear picture of what happened those first few days.
