I'm quoting myself to bump these questions so they don't get lost. :bump:

Based on where the store was, Dicentra, what route were they taking back to Ruch? If we know that, we can see what side roads they might have taken. Was the store in Ashland, Talent, Phoenix or Medford? Can you be specific?

Do you know what time they left Ashland? I thought it was close to noonish when the parade was over. But that leaves a lot of time if they were at the store in the late afternoon. Could they have gone to see the new puppy where son and dil were living in Ashland at the time? Probably not likely if they were fighting.

And then we still have to account for the time the car started late at night and got home early in the morning (several hours?). I wish we had the start and stop times for that whole day. I don't know why that hasn't been made public.

The story linked below about finding Mandy Matula's body in a park near the Mississippi River, wrapped in a blanket in a shallow grave, six months after her disappearance, made me think of the earlier post of Sasquatch about common places for bodies to be found. Then I started thinking about Cantrall Buckley Park along the Applegate River very close to Stephanie's property.

Has that area been searched with cadaver dogs?

It would have been busy the July 4 weekend, but people are preoccupied and not observant. Just wondering, as it's very convenient. Hamilton Road, which cuts off Hwy 238 not far from Stephanie's and goes by the park, comes out on Upper Applegate Road. This is fairly isolated without even having to go up in the national forest.

FAMILY SILENCE. Unfortunately, I believe it's due to other circumstances that family and LE remain silent. The detective running this case is YOUNG (which means, in all likelihood, inexperienced). He's seems like a good guy; but the way this case has been run, is, to say the least, concerning. The fact that he wanted us all (including media), shut down, and that the bio-family continues their silence, isn't due to the fact the POI and son are dangerous people (which I believe they are), bio-family all reside in Louisiana, far-far-away. I'm thinking that they don't want the notoriety/publicity. if anybody thinks this isn't going to get a media-blitz WHEN she if found, they are delusional. Regardless of what they WANT, I WANT them all to do the RIGHT thing, and the statistics say it is IMPORTANT to keep Stephanie's case in the public eye. I am NOT willing to have her disappear into the ethers and become just another "missing person," unsolved, cold-case! I am praying and pushing the bio-family to give another interview, pleading for public help in finding Stephanie! We need to keep her in the news, we need to engage people in actively looking for her, remembering details. I've heard it here, many times, and I believe with all of my heart it is true; all it will take is ONE break, somebody remembering that one little detail that leads us to where she is! PLEASE step it up, CONSERVITOR! PLEASE do your DUTY to STEPHANIE! I'm not going to give up or stop pushing you to do the right thing - I'm not going to let her just disappear! If our positions were reversed, Stephanie would be doing everything she could to find me; I won't do less for her.

BUNKER. I do not have the specific location to the "Bunker," and I don't believe LE ever found the exact site; I heard that a person closely involved with POI & son, disclosed that there were numerous Bunker sites, however, that could just be rumor. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if there WERE more "bunker" sites, given the level of depravity involved with these people.

Stephanie only described one bunker site. She did visit it. The group called it "Camp." From what Steph told me, there was a camper and a tent in the trees nearby; that's where they'd stay, not in the actual Bunker. The bunker was kept closed. Steph described camp as a place where they'd pray and "regroup." It is only after she disappeared that I put it all together and now believe there was BRAINWASHING going on there. When I profile Sissy from a psychosocial perspective, she is a sitting target. Freshly broken up with her boyfriend of 3 years + Lost the love of her life to CA = vulnerable. She kept saying she needed to lease out her property and move nearer to us. I wish we'd been able to find a way for her to do that BEFORE Lonnie/Lenny came into her life. She might still be with us today...

POI had been BANNED from all of the Ruch stores (this is pubic knowledge). He was universally disliked in the area due to the way her manipulated and used people. I heard from Ruch people that loved Stephanie that the entire troop was THREATENED, more than once and POI's son posted on FB that POI had been forced to move due to the fact that he felt threatened by the population in Ruch. I don't know if this is true, but I do know that people in Ruch don't want him back; I've heard people openly talk about actively protecting themselves, and if I were him, I wouldn't come back to this area if he values his skin intact!

Stephanie had to shop for POI. POI liked to be "driven." He had two vehicles of his own, but he liked to have Steph drive him around when he needed supplies from town. That's when they'd come into Medford together. POI's residence was at "Camp." He had his mail come to Steph's home and he'd stay there off and on. The relationship was volcanic and he'd been thrown out numerous times. Up to the time of her disappearance, he referred to his home, as "camp." To my knowledge, Stephanie never gave him keys.

After Stephanie disappeared and POI moved his gang onto her property, POI repeatedly called and texted me requesting I provide him with the set of keys I had in my possession; he was especially interested in getting the remote key that opened the gate and the keys to the barn. Detective Henderson GAVE POI MY remote and requested I deliver the other house keys to POI. Somehow, I was never able to find them until AFTER POI moved out of Stephanie's home. After POI left the residence, I found the keys in order to open the doors to her home and adopt out the animals. The keys were then packed in the boxes I delivered to the Sheriff's department for Stephanie's Mama, at the request of Conservator/Sister.

We have all been frustrated and "baffled", as POI would say, about the low level of publicity for this case. We may never know why Detective Henderson has apparently discouraged people and the media from speaking out. I have always thought that the potential danger was not to individuals or family, but to the LE and community if this isn't handled carefully. There are people in this area who would like nothing better than an excuse to "defend themselves" against perceived "government attack." JMO

Whatever reason Stephanie's family has for their silence, Dicentra, their choice is their choice, like it or not. They have heard us beg them for months to speak out. We have made it abundantly clear why it is important, and for some reason they won't. So my personal recommendation would be to put your energy into what you can do, not what they should do. I mean that very kindly and with understanding for your frustration.

Strong emotion makes it really hard to focus. But right now, after all these months, focus is important...we need to focus on what we know and what we don't know. Who knows? You, Dicentra, may be the one who unknowingly holds that one small detail in the recesses of your memory that could lead to Stephanie. So if you can set aside your big feelings for the moment and answer our questions and also write down everything you can remember, insignificant or not, you will be making up for the silence of others. Harness your indignation and direct it where it will do the most good.

If I were you, Dicentra, I would get a large spiral notebook and start writing, without analyzing or censoring. I would write out the chronology, things that stood out as weird, questions you have, suspicions (even ones you think are silly)...anything and everything. If you think of something while you are away from home, write it on a sticky note and add it to the notebook later. And then come here and share whatever you can with us, within WS rules. We're here to sleuth and help get this solved, but we desperately need information.

Winter is coming. It's crunch time for finding Stephanie. Let's all focus.

It doesn't sound as if this was the campsite in the forest that was searched by LE just before Ames was named a POI. That had a travel trailer and some vehicles, unless by "camper" you mean trailer. I believe the place they searched was the mining claim Ames and son had been convicted of living on permanently.

I don't understand how the Ames bunch moved into Stephanie's without keys. Was it left unlocked and unsecured from July 7 when you went there and found the door unlocked until they moved in around July 19-20? Why would Henderson give them the remote and want you to turn over keys to them? What standing did they have? Did Steph's Mom give permission? It was a potential crime scene.

I'm also confused about the day you found the door unlocked. When you went there July 7, didn't you take keys and remote to get in the gate and the house? You didn't know the back door was unlocked. I guess I'm missing something. Can you walk me through this one more time?

The owner of the Ruch Market was interviewed early on and said that Stephanie often phoned in orders to the store for someone to pick up for her. He had talked to her on the phone July 3. Do you know why she didn't do her own shopping and who delivered her food to her? If she was taking Ames shopping, why not shop for herself? Why have things delivered? Just curious.

Would Ames drive one of his trucks in from "camp" and meet Stephanie to go shopping in Medford? I assume he did that the morning of July 4. I wonder where he left his truck that day. Her place or the store? The store would be more central if he was originally planning to go back out Upper Applegate Rd to wherever his camp was.

Well, the first thing that comes up when you google Stephanie's name now, or Stephanie Warner missing, is WS, so we're her best publicity at the moment.

I think the following statements are probably why there is very little media about Stephanie's case now;

August 24th 2013: "This isn't a homicide investigation"

July 23rd 2013: "The Sheriff's Office says making too much information public could put the search for Warner at risk. The Sheriff's Office says they expect movement in the case in the coming days or weeks, and at that time coverage will continue into the situation."

There are also early suggestions from police at the link that Stephanie may have wandered off and a less than helpful remark about not knowing if she was drunk or not.

Just about everything to lead the public into believing nothing could - or even should - be done about her disappearance. I wonder what the media coverage and public reaction would have been like if journalists had known the boyfriend partying in Stephanie's house was a paranoid survivalist fundamentalist, stockpiling weapons in a secret bunker in the heart of the community?

We need to put tags in, so Stephanie's case gets lots of connections when people are searching online.

Great idea. How do we put tags in? #clueless

  • #194
At the button where it says edit tags on the right, ( box below) click. Put them in, separating multiple ones with a comma. If any are too long, they will be rejected and you'll have to shorten them.

  • #195
Where is Stephanie's cell phone? That has never been answered? Dicentra have you ever heard anything about her cell phone?

  • #196
The fact that Stephanie was last seen on 4th of July, Independence Day, is a good thing from the viewpoint of people remembering things, at least. It's a memorable day.

Excellent idea Zwiebel! I used up almost all of mine. I have 5 left so I'll brainstorm a little more later and try to come up with 5 more.
Just so everyone understands, putting tags that Zwiebel suggested us to do will get this case so much more attention on the thread. I think (I'm not sure) each member gets to add 20 tags. So let's start adding some more! Read the ones that are already there so they don't get duplicated. Thanks again Zwiebel!

re tags:Great idea!!!! I didn't realise WE could do that! FYI, it's here but also if you write/post anywhere else online, "#BringStephHome" is the Twitter tag.

Just about everything to lead the public into believing nothing could - or even should - be done about her disappearance.

But WHY??!!

Do LE, media and/or family stand to gain something from promoting this do-nothing attitude?

OR

Is it a demographic issue? --Stephanie's not a cute young woman who tugs at heart strings?

Is it a support system issue?--No large circle of friends who would drop everything and look for her?

Is it apathy?--A belief that it's LE's job to find her and the public should stand back and let them do it?

OR

Has Stephanie's disappearance been such non-event for all of the above reasons and more?

I doubt there are any answers, but it's very frustrating. And on we go.

I've skirted around these notions in the past, stating considerations but not going any further out of one sort of fear or another. I'm no longer afraid to state my opinion: I have several theories about why this case has gone the way it has. The one that keeps rising to the top is the one where the case was set to to go cold from the very start....
It plays out like this: The Detectives learn that Stephanie is missing. They are almost immediately certain that foul play was involved/that Stephanie has been murdered. They have a suspect but not enough evidence to officially call him that. The suspect has had several days of a head start on the investigation and is known to be an expert on the vast, read: unsearchable, forests in the area. Knowing that cases are piling up on the already over charged and understaffed office, the suspect has had time to destroy pertinent evidence and and that is is highly unlikely a body will be found, the detectives keep the family quiet and the press to a minimum in the hopes that the case will quietly go cold.

I hope everyday that this theory is proven completely untrue. With every fibre of my being I want to believe that Dt Henderson and JCSO have done everything in their power to find Stephanie.
