That was back on the first thread, sometime in September. Sasquatch posted that. Maybe that was the car she had prior to the Nissan? Dicentra might know.

ETA: I found the photos on 9/20 post #830 on the first thread. What Sasquatch was trying to establish is whether Stephanie had a pattern to her parking, since the photo of the white car was taken a year earlier and parked in the same spot as her Xterra.

Dicentra has since told us that when she arrived at Stephanie's on Sunday July 7, her car was NOT parked in it's usual place.

I came across a really interesting no-body case for Oregon today. That's when somebody is prosecuted for murder (or related charges) of a missing person - even though the missing person hasn't been found.

It is surprising how many of these cases have been successfully prosecuted across the USA, and quite remarkable how many of those convicted are outraged, because they were under the impression a person can't be charged with murder if a body hasn't been found. Some had even boasted to their friends how they would never be convicted because they had hidden the victim so well - ironic, because some of those friends' evidence helped to convict them later.

No-body convictions are still rare, but more and more determined DAs are going ahead with these kind of prosecutions, now they have great examples to follow.

Anyway, back to Stephanie. Where is she? Who is not coming forward? Somebody knows something and the clock is ticking my friends. The clock is ticking.........

Completely off topic, but if someone told me (or even hinted or gave me reason to think) they'd murdered someone, I'd run a flipping mile (stopping on the way to inform LE, of course).

Did Lennie Ames ever explain why he did not bother to report Stephanie missing or sound an alert?

I know there are plenty of reasons why that could happen - some people just don't recognize a dangerous situation when they see one, or know how and who they should alert. It's a shame though. If he had been a little better prepared, the searches for Stephanie could have begun a lot earlier, when there was less chance of potential evidence being compromised, and more chance of people remembering something.

He might have avoided being named as a person of interest too, if he had acted a little quicker when it was needed, in my opinion.

I don't recall that he has ever said anything other than that they parted company at the store around 5:00 pm July 4, and he got a ride out to his camp with the mythical kids in the green truck. So we are supposed to believe that he didn't know she was missing until Dicentra showed up at his camp with his son on Monday July 8 looking for Stephanie. I will look for her post and try to attach it.

Ah, so he didn't know she was missing for four days?

I'd have thought the boyfriend of a woman living in such an isolated place would have checked on her a bit more often than every four days. But I suppose he could be the type who is just very casual about any potential emergency situations.

That's what he says. His camp is out of cell phone range. Stephanie's place is along the main "highway" through the area and has neighbors. So although it's isolated compared to where I live, it's not like she was out by herself living in the woods. Since they'd had a fight, I can see why he wouldn't contact her. But that's assuming we believe him.

Didn't he also state that he believed she went to see her mom in NOLA or is that heresay? Either way, it happened IMO

Well, if it's true he gave different explanations for why he thought she was missing, that could be another reason police named him as a person of interest. I don't think they like that.

It makes sense to me; if a person is concerned enough to have different scenarios running through their head about why a loved one isn't answering the phone or whatever, then that concern usually results in some kind of action. Checking with friends or family or work, looking in familiar places, checking everything is okay in the home etc. If none of that was done, it would look odd.

I remember hearing that too, but it's hard to keep straight what's been said on the thread. So I guess it's considered a rumor.

BBM On the other hand, if they did have a fight, it's equally plausible that they would have spoken in order to patch things up. Hard to know what type of relationship they had, but I have read that in some instances she referred to him as her husband, so it sounds to me like they were pretty close. I do find it odd that he didn't report her missing.

You're right. And either way we look at it, why didn't he report her missing? One of the things he said was that he got a ride back to town for supplies on Friday. Funny he didn't check on her.

Her facebook relationship status was changed to "married"on June 30.
