His phone pinged off a tower in Harrisburg indicating about 25-30 miles west of Harrisburg, which is why it was presumed to be in the general area of Alsea.

Steven still hasn't been found -- I hope he had some gear/provisions on him as the weather has fluctuated from low 20s and icy to rainy with high winds.

A search party is happening tomorrow (Dec 28th) at noon starting at the Alsea Library.
MISSING: Family and Police are looking for Steven Mainwaring from Klamath Falls
Mainwaring's family invites anyone wanting to help search to come prepared "with weather gear, 4X4 vehicles, and the OnX app for their phone to track their search area."

Scary. This one doesnt look promising I'm afraid :(

Interesting one of the posters says Eugene / Alsea when they appear to be an hour apart. Did he ping in Eug at some point too? Or do people tend to lump them together?
I'm in the area and I've never even heard of Alsea to be frank

ALSEA, Ore. -- An unsuccessful search for 22-year-old Oregon State University student, Steven Mainwaring, hasn't dampered the family's hope for his safe return.

Wednesday afternoon, a search party gathered by the library in Alsea, near where Mainwaring's cell phone last pinged, according to police. The group searched until the sun went down but unfortunately, didn't find anything.

Mainwaring's family says they are focusing on trying to locate his car, which is unique and should stand out.

Do they think it was intentional? Or accidental?

Do they think it was intentional? Or accidental?
No foul play suspected, no request for information from witnesses, no report of a car accident, and the family has requested for privacy.

God I wish that these cases just once would end differently
Rest in peace Steven. I'm sure Corvallis is feeling your absence :(
