Media Release: Sheriff’s Office Searching for Missing Woman at Hagg Lake

On Friday, February 5, 2021, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to an apartment complex in Aloha, where they learned about a woman who may be a danger to herself. It was reported to deputies that Tara Callahan, age 38, was headed to Henry Hagg Lake to possibly drown herself.

Deputies located Ms. Callahan’s vehicle at Boat Ramp C at Hagg Lake but were unable to locate her.

On Saturday and Sunday, the Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team utilized several cadets and other teams to look in the wooded area and shoreline around the lake and the Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol checked the water. The Remotely Operated Vehicle Team also used an unmanned aircraft (drone) to search for Ms. Callahan.

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office Dive/Rescue Team assisted in searching the waters around Boat Ramp C over the weekend, but were unable to locate her.

This case remains under investigation and the search is continuing. If anyone has any information regarding the location of Ms. Callahan, please call non-emergency dispatch at 503-629-0111.

I wonder who reported Tara missing and why the reporting party thought she was suicidal?

I’ve gone down 2 FB rabbit holes this morning and am remembering why I hate FB. . I pray this beautiful woman did not harm herself but it does seem likely. So tragic. I pray it’s not the case and she will come home.

I'm guessing the pain in Tara's life is related to her August 20th post on her facebook page. What a brave step to take in healing from such a traumatic event, bringing the darkness into the light. I hope Tara is found safe!!

Deputies search for missing woman near Hagg Lake

Over the weekend, search and rescue teams looked for Callahan in the woods and on the shoreline of the lake — and used drones in their search. The sheriff’s office marine patrol division also checked the water near the boat ramp where her car was found.

I'm sure it happens but suicide by drowning seems like a really strange way to do it. I wonder if she gave anybody a description of the men she felt were creepy

My stepdaughter’s friend committed suicide by driving into a lake. It is a huge lake and he’d tried before but chickened out. So this time they knew where he was headed but didn’t find him in time sadly. He’d taken the license plates off of his car first and left them on the shore so his family would know where to find him. It was beyond horrific. They found the car within an hour of him committing the act, but it was too late.

At the time I thought what a horrible way to do such a thing. One year later his brother committed suicide as well.

I pray Tara is all right and they find her soon.

Suicide by drowning is just completely beyond my comprehension.
Rip poor Tara, I’m so sorry you’re gone and I pray for some peace for her family :(
