OR - Two Shot By Federal Agents, Portland, January 8th 2026

In a post on X, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security said U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents were conducting a traffic stop when its agents opened fire in self-defense.

"When agents identified themselves to the vehicle occupants, the driver weaponized his vehicle and attempted to run over the law enforcement agents. Fearing for his life and safety, an agent fired a defensive shot. The driver drove off with the passenger, fleeing the scene," DHS said.

It said the passenger in the vehicle was from Venezuela and illegally in the United States and affiliated with the transnational Tren de Aragua prostitution ring. DHS said the person had also been involved in a shooting in Portland.

Do people actually believe this? The story is that a transnational criminal, on the run from the law for shooting someone, tried to run over agents, fled the scene, and then these seasoned criminals fleeing from the law, CALLED THE PORTLAND POLICE TO REPORT THE INCIDENT?

The Attorney General (Dan Rayfield) announced that the Oregon Department of Justice will open a formal investigation into the shooting that left two people injured in Southeast Portland.

The investigation appears to the be first since Oregon officials warned the federal government in November that they would investigate and prosecute any federal agents who use force “beyond the reasonable scope of their duties.”

The chief of police in Portland (Day) addressed the story. Granted "somehow being affiliated with a gang" is very vague, but let's say it's all true. ICE doesn't have the authority to shoot people, take off, leaving them to die. They are not judge, jury and executioners.

"Day said that he was asked about the Portland Police Bureau's knowledge of their alleged ties to gang activity Thursday, but didn't have an answer at the time. After doing some digging overnight, Day said he was prepared to share what he knew.

Both Moncada and Zambrano-Contreras are suspected of "some nexus to, (or) involvement with" the gang Tren de Aragua, Day said.

That information being on PPB's radar dates back to a shooting that happened in Portland on July 11 near Northeast 81st Avenue and Mason Street. The victim, who survived the shooting, was a Venezuelan immigrant who told investigators that the assailants were affiliated with Tren de Aragua.

Day said that Moncada and Zambrano-Contreras are not currently considered suspects in the shooting, but they were identified through the investigation as being somehow affiliated with the gang." Portland police chief says 2 shot by Border Patrol are in stable condition, do have suspected gang ties
