Here's the facts timetable from what I've pieced together:

•Whitney and Clint met at the JW hall or church (news article) at some point
•They married 1 yr. 9 mos. ago (according to Clint)
•Holts married -- their wedding pix online 2-10-2012 (screenshot)
•Holts moved into apt complex 5-6 months ago (news)
•Holts then attended same JW hall/church, sporadically (which JW church is decided by geographic residence)

Court documents released Monday show three of those charges said Jonathan Holt shot and killed her to conceal the crime of sodomy. Four other counts said he did it to conceal the crimes of kidnapping and robbery.

What a disgusting pig! As if raping her just weren't enough. I didn't think he could make me anymore sick, but he just did.

His poor wife. I can't imagine how her life has also been destroyed by this. Just speculating, but can you imagine if she was one of the ones who participated in the search? I just can't imagine how betrayed she must feel right now!!!!

OMG the charges make me want to scream. Poor, sweet girl.

Actually I am wondering what type of abuse she was suffering at his hand!:furious:

Poor woman!

Sodomy wouldn't actually mean normal rape right?

WARNING, GRAPHIC:

Under Oregon law, sodomy is sexual conduct between the anus or mouth of one person and the sexual organs of another.

I previously (at 3PM local, posted this):

Local TV (KOIN) just said coming up at 4pm - "Whitney Heichel's husband shares his heartbreak. He talks about all that Whitney meant to him and what haunts him about the murder".

--

Now they are live on TV. I will try to type what they say.

First appearance in court.

24 yr old Holt arrested Friday night same time as

He admitted to shooting her.

Attended same church meetings and same apartment.

Why? What was the motive?

see next post

Another thing that niggles me...why the absolute proliferation of evidence in SO many locations (cell phone deposited near apts., mulitple ATM and gas transactions, car left at Wal Mart, some belongings in trash receptacles in two different places near her car, one car mat left at the park, etc.)...and with all that...the deliberate removal of just ONE of the two license plates, leaving it on Larch Mt. (which discovery--how?--prompted search which led to body). It's almost as if the perp(s) wanted to leave a trail that would 1) establish plenty of evidence of where the car had been, and 2) drop evidence that would lead church members (or other searchers) to her body before too much time passed.

Unanswered, too, is the question about the first 'tip' that led police to first question Holt. I have no doubt there is evidence tying Holt to the car and crime; I just wonder if the case is more contrived, somehow...

  • First appearance in court.
  • 24 yr old Holt arrested Friday night about the same time as Whitney's body was found on Larch Mountain
  • He admitted to shooting her.
  • Attended same church meetings and same apartment.
  • Journalist asks - Why? What was the motive?

CONTINUATION...

  • Boys were never in trouble. (said Holt's neighbor from childhood)
  • Learning about the connection between Whitney and Holt.
  • Holt attended same meetings at this church but the church is distancing themselves from Holt
  • Holt graduated from Parkrose in 2006
  • Married in March 2010
  • Apartment neighbors said he was quiet and kept to himself
  • Holt in court looked "bewildered and sick with emotion"
  • Faced with 7 counts
  • Court docs just received - she was sexually assaulted during the murder
  • First degree sodomy before or after the murder - not clear yet
  • Oct 25th court appearance coming

Interestingly, they didn't show the piece with Clint that they said at 3PM this was going to be about. Maybe I got the channels mixed up but I don't think I did.

Has anyone heard if 48 hours or a similar show is planning to do a piece on this case anytime soon?

edited to improve formatting - was typing quickly live from TV.

Facing 7 counts aggravated murder, crime spree in two counties. Charged in Clackamas because murder occurred here. Kept his head down, suicide smock. Answered questions with a yes/no. She was shot and killed near Lake Rosalyn.
DNA analysis links him to the crime.

Suspect's neighbor: The guy was sane when I met him, a totally normal guy. He must have snapped.
A former co-worker worked until late this summer at a local restaurant, Troutdale Subway. She was shocked to find he'd be arrested for this crime.
She was working with him alone at night so often and she never would have expected it.

Here is a definition I got when I Google it:
Sodomy (/ˈsɒdəmi/) is any non-penile/vaginal copulation-like act, such as oral or anal sex

Poor, poor Whitney. Holt can just rot.

I think Clint was calling him looking for Whitney and he had to ditch the car sooner than planned.
If JH was not at work or at home and his bike was there then where was he?
He had to get back to his apt ASAP.
moo

My understanding from this timeline is that they got gas over 2 hours after she failed to show for work. It seems like it was a pit stop between Dodge Park and Larch Mountain. It's certainly right on the way. If that is how it happened then Whitney wasn't alive at the gas station.

That's what I'm thinking. Clint said that surveillance cameras show the SUV going in the wrong direction (not the direction Whitney would have been coming from if coming from home or work), so Holt must have tanked up in between the park and the mountain. Since she was killed at the park, then she was deceased at the gas station. Locals, does that make sense?

Either way, my heart is so heavy. Even more so knowing that she was sexually assaulted. That makes it worse worse worse. Of course, that's usually the motive with freaks like this. But still, I was hoping that a fight ensued and that she was killed before being raped. Ugh. I hate typing that.

Why 7 counts? These legal things are very difficult to understand.

The state generally does this when they have reasonable evidence to support the theory behind each of the counts. Before the trial, as more evidence is proven and provided, it's likely that a more clear picture of what actually happened will appear, and some of the charges will be dropped.

Thanks for this Ingra1327. Just seems so much like the Jill Meagher case here in Aus. My heart breaks for Whitney and her friends & family. :tears:

According to previous news articles, the Holts married some time in 2010:
