HEATHERWOOD APARTMENTS - Google Maps

Okay, after driving around on google, with the link provided by Sasquatch, I found this map sign on the property. It shows the lay out of the buildings. According to the affidavit or pdf, the Heichels lived in K274 (middle level), and the Holts were in J168 (ground level). The Heichels were on Cochran Drive where the interview with CH took place in front of the 2nd floor unit. The buildings are actually very close to one another, just across the lot.

Thank you again, CaffeineJean for this post! It was very useful and it has very recent images. Yesterday, I went back on a virtual Google drive to see if I could spot any clues and gather some more information. Here are some things that I discovered.

1. The Google photos of the Apartments were taken in July of 2012, around the time JH and AH moved into their place. The timing of the Google photos turned out great, because the Cochran Drive photos of WH's Explorer parked in front of her Apartments were taken in August of 2011. So different streets, some even parallel to each other, were sometimes taken in different months and years.

2. The image of the parking spot directly across from AH and JH's Apartment (J168), most likely has their 2010 Charcoal Scion parked in it. The parking space is right in front of the K building where WH and CH lived. You can see a direct path to Cochran Drive from both the parking space as well as from the area around JH's apartment. WH seemed to park her Explorer on different sides of Cochran Drive, probably wherever there was an open space.

3. I believe JH's apartment was one of the back units, facing a children's sandbox, tire swing and play area as well as a main walking path to the pool. Scarey that JH was so close to children playing. The wooded area is probably the place where JH tried hiding his tennis shoes.

JH and AH's building, their apt. was J168, their complex is the lower left hand corner of the image, their apartment was most likely facing the sandbox behind the complex.

JH and AH's car parked against K building, in a parking spot. You can see Cochran Drive North of this viewpoint and JH's Apt. would be directly South of this viewpoint.

The 2010 Scion car (photo taken July 2012). They must have just moved in, or were looking at their new place.

I'm assuming it would be a week day during the middle of the day when the google cam drove through. This new age and cameras everywhere thing... whew, it's sort of freaking me out. But, good find Sas!

I think it's been stated that there are other congregants from the KH living in that apartment complex. It's possible Amanda was visiting a friend there.

I also got the impression from the affadavit that the Scion was mainly Amanda's vehicle, and JH drove his bike most of the time.

You are welcome! Thank you! Yes it is odd that all of these moments in time were captured on Google's cameras! It is tough to know exactly why the car is parked at the apartments, but it might have been an early move in (few days before August?) or the date is wrong on the photos like you said. Each parking space is numbered C- then the number. I don't believe that they get assigned the same number as the apartment numbers, but I will have to do some more research and find out.

It was a beautiful drive that day by the river. I still keep my eyes open on the side of the road and area, for any evidence or clues, because a lot of the vegetation has gone away in that area. The air and the river are cold this time of year. It was sad to hear about the 18 year old boy who got swept away in the Sandy river a few days ago, about 6 miles East of Sandy. That would be about 10 miles upriver from my photos at Dodge Park.

The boy was with his friend trying to cross the river with his waders and slipped in and got carried away. The air was 27 F and the water is about 35 degrees. They are still looking for his body. It is a beautiful river, but it is wild and definitely not worth risking your life trying to cross it. Waders are for keeping you dry and wading into the calmer areas with a belt on and at a minimum, a personal floatation device that inflates with a pull of the cord. It is sad to say, that about every other year, the Clackamas Search and Rescue seem to come searching through Dodge Park and the area looking for someone who has been lost or swept away.

On a lighter note, when I stopped to take some pictures from the bridge, a fisherman started telling me about the Steelhead run. That is why I like the area, because a lot of people are so friendly. Instead of fish stories, kids pull their out their iPhones to show you a photo of the actual fish they caught. What is also funny about this area, is that you know when the Steelhead run is on, because the fathers are picking their children up from school in fishing waders!

Yes, JH's image has softened up a bit. He said a few words in his telecast court appearance&#8230;something like " yes, barely" when they asked if he understood or heard the judge. I am so glad that they have him behind bars.

I definitely hope that the Discovery, has helped LE and might speed things up! 2014 is a long time to wait for a trial. This waiting must heartbreaking for the entire family.

Yes, AH could have been visiting someone, we don't have enough info to know exactly why her car is parked there. By the planting pattern of the shrub and tree in the back porch photo (with motorcycle), it appears that their unit was most likely facing the top of the sandbox, opposite of the tire swing. This would be in almost a direct alignment of their apartment/future apt. to the parking spot. There were no parking spaces behind the apartments due to the creek/woods area.

You are right. By the look of the parking job, AH probably parked the car. From what we have seen so far, JH likes to back his cars in to park. In July 2012, JH was still working at the Subway Shop at the Troutdale Outlet Malls off of 257th and I-84. He was probably riding his motorcycle around that time.

Thank you Xavier! There were about 3 people fly fishing further up the river, but I didn't have a zoom lens to capture them. It is a beautiful wild river. They removed the dam on the river when they drained Roslyn Lake. The dam fed water through a chute to Roslyn. Now the river runs wild, but the levels can sometimes be unpredictable when it rains. Oregon has a lot of beautiful rivers. The movie based on the book, called "The River Why" was filmed in the Clackamas and Wilson Rivers around Portland. I went to the Premiere here in Portland a few years ago. William Hurt has a home in Eastern Oregon and likes to fish a lot in the state. He was a real nice guy to meet. I feel lucky to live in such a beautiful place like Oregon!

Here are the two images from the September 2011 Google images that I believe might be WH. JH was in Starbucks at the same time with his MIL. I tried to brighten and isolate some of the images in Photoshop. The person wearing all black at the drive-thru was too tall to be WH and didn't match her profile. I believe the following two photos might be her. We know her Explorer is parked outside against the back shrubbery, along with AH's Scion (that JH drove and parked).

The first image is the backside of a barista with a white top and apron tied around the waist.

The second photo appears to be JH, his MIL and the back of WH's head. This one is tough to know for sure because of the window reflection. This photo was one that was not included in the previous sets of JH.

A note on the child that Holt's been linked to

I'd imagine alot of the child is not on the internet, open , easily found, and possibly it was distributed to Holt by DVD form

I'm curious if LE is clueing in if another individual or group of people are the one's who distributed the child to Holt?

For Holt, having these child endangering charges does not bode well for him in prison

I've heard inmates resent these kinds of criminals

Here is an aerial view of JH's apartment area, as well as the parking spot we have been talking about, with a watermark of 2011 (copyright of 2013). We know that in 2011, WH and CH were living in their apartment in the K building and the Google cam has WH's Explorer parked on Cochran Drive. In the 2011 aerial view, the parking spot (C-125), appears to have a 1970s Grey and White Truck parked there. In the July 2012 street view of spot C-125, there is a 2010 Black Scion parked there, most likely AHs. So it is possible AH and JH might have been able to move their stuff in early, but were not able to occupy the apartment yet.

Here is the photo of the 2011 aerial view. The right red box is the outline of the area that I believe AH and JH's apartment was located. It was located on the bottom floor. You can match the aerial shrubbery view with the photo that has JH's motorcycle in it. The red circle on the left, is the parking spot that is occupied by the grey and white truck.

Sasquatch, the shrub in the foreground of the photo is Nandina - commonly known as Heavenly Bamboo. The leaves turn a pretty red in the fall but don't drop. Then it gets red berries in the winter. The low shrub near the window in the background looks like a camellia bush or hedge laurel.

When I posted the Google Photos with JH, his MIL and both AH's Black Scion and WH's Explorer parked together, I definitely felt that this information is very relevant toward the case. As of now, I still have a high confidence that all of that information can be verified by LE, when they request the original images that do not have the faces and license plates blurred.

In these Sept. 2011 Google images, we had a 2010 Black Scion parked in backwards, the same way and method that WH's Explorer was found parked at Walmart. With the 360 degree degree view of Starbucks Sept. 2011, we could see JH with a flannel shirt and his sleeves rolled up, exactly like his FB photo. We could see his MIL sitting across from him with no other chairs pulled up and AH not visible in the store. We knew that WH was most likely in the Starbucks working. JH seems slouched in the photos and his MIL seems irritated. Almost as if the cameras caught them in an intense moment. We also know from the police report, that JH had been investigated a few weeks earlier, for a felony theft of his friends rental car at Best Buy.

In the Google images from 2011 aerial view we know there appears to be a white and grey truck parked in the spot C-125 against building K of the Heatherwood Apts. In July 2012, the spot C-125 has a 2010 Black Scion parked in it. The spot is located directly across from JH and AH's Apartment Building J. This left me with the conclusion that this must be AH's 2010 Black Scion. But here are the red flags that we have all been seeing.

1. The image is dated July 2012 and JH and AH had not moved in until August 2012.
2. Caffienejean pointed out that it appears to be a weekday, which is very likely because of all of the empty spots. I believe AH had a regular weekday job, so it is likely her car might not be parked there during that time of day.
3. PIM pointed out in a previous posting that on the HW Apt. reviews that they mention that parking rules are strictly enforced. This would make it unlikely that AH would park in someone elses spot to visit someone.
4. People were complaining on the reviews that I read, that it cost 15 dollars to have a parking spot at the apts., and that you are not guaranteed to have a parking spot available next to your apt area. Some people were renting out a garage to park their cars in. So seeing a car next to a complex does not guarantee that they live in that adjacent complex. When a person rents an apartment there, they can rent a car slot that is numbered C-#. Apartment numbers do not match or coordinate with the parking spot numbers.

All of these red flags and everyone's brainstorming, made me think of one more thing. What vehicle is parked in the spot today? We know what was there in 2011, we know which car was there in July 2012. Who is parked in that spot on today, and this might help solve the mystery.

I went for a drive through the apt. complex this afternoon and looked at that exact parking spot. In that spot was a 2010 Black Scion. Two things caught my attention. First, the license plate number of the Scion, in that spot today, did not match the number on page 3 of the 44 page Holt1.pdf document and second, the spoiler is larger than I remember seeing in the Starbucks Google photos of AH's Scion.

What I have read, is that when purchasing the 2010 Scion TC, that there were three factory options. No spoiler, the lip spoiler or the regular spoiler. In the Starbucks Google photos, AH's Black Scion had either no spoiler or the small profile lip spoiler. The Black Scion in the HW apts. today, had the regular large spoiler on the trunk area.

So in my conclusion of sleuthing the two 2010 Black Scion TCs, AH's 2010 Black Scion was parked at Starbucks in the Sept. 2011 Google Images, with other photographic evidence supporting that JH drove it and parked it there. The 2010 Black Scion parked in slot C-125 at HW apts. in the July 2012 Google Street View is someone elses. That is why it was shown parked at the apts. a month before AH and JH moved in.

There were two 2010 Black Scions parked around the J building at Heatherwood Apts. while AH and JH were living there; theirs and their neighbors. What are the odds? It was the spoiler and license plate numbers that made the subtle difference between these two Scions TC's same year, color, and model of cars.

Because I drove through the apartment complex with Google Maps, it made it much easier to find the parking space and area. Last time I tried finding it, I missed the turn off completely and looped back around Cochran. This was the first time I actually drove through the middle of the complex.

When I pulled out of the Home Depot parking lot in Troutdale that day, I glanced up the road and saw the Shell Station. That made me think about some of the unanswered questions about this case. I just started driving South on 257th Street and took a 6 mile detour through the Heatherwood Apartments, and made it back to my destination. On that Sunday, the HW Apts parking lot was packed and it felt like a much tighter space to navigate with all of the cars. I wrote down the license plate when I saw the Scion, and compared it to the 44 page Holt Doc when I got home later that day. I am just glad that the car was parked there at that time, so that it could clear up some of the many unanswered questions. You are right, I am sure the neighbor's car has been mistaken for AH's a few times already.

Coldpizza, what a wonderful, heartfelt thing to say! That is one of Whitney's photos from her wedding. She was a beautiful soul, and the few times that I met her, she was so nice and wonderful to me and my children. She had a way of making children feel special.

When Whitney's mother Lorilei spoke at one of the first news conferences, she stated that she was there because she wanted to show that her daughter was more than just a news story or a photo, Whitney was a wife a sister and much more.

Coldpizza, and everyone else on this forum has shown exactly what Lorilei was hoping for, that with their words and with their hearts, that Whitney was indeed a lot more than just a news story or photo. Whitney mattered and she shined. Some of us stop by to read the forum, some of us are thinking about her, some of us are finding and discussing clues to help bring justice....It all matters! Giving your time is a gift. It is great to be on a forum with such a wonderful bunch of people!
