Sasquatch and La Louve:
Simply Beautiful! I am so in awe of the kindness and heart filled efforts you have put forth in honor of Whitney. You are definitely in line for the "pay it forward" story in life at least a hundred times over. So good things do come from the bad, and darkness to light... and I am honored to be a witness to that through both you and your gorgeous photos! And SAS the "Blue Girl" shows so perfectly brilliant against the rest of the garden. Thank you both for making our world a better place. I know Whitney and her family can only appreciate your selfless acts, as we all do. Thank you, again and again and again!

And Sasquatch, your post to Prairie Wind was summarily Perfection. It's hard to go over all that again after this long of wait for justice for Whitney. But, you did so brilliantly. Thank you for that! SEE POST #13 this thread.
Thank you Caffeinejean! I am touched that the garden has moved you so. This makes me so happy - and sad at the same time, you know? Bittersweet, maybe that's the word.
That latest photo of Whitney and Clint that Sasquatch so kindly posted, if she isn't the most beautiful light ever, I don't know who is. Some people are just pure light in this lifetime, they burn brightly but sadly not long enough. I am glad the garden is rippling out. It's taken on a beautiful life of its own. I would never have predicted it'd turned out how it has. Whitney is the reason I joined Websleuths and I have found a lovely community here. Sasquatch's wonderful writing and his loving efforts on Whitney's and her family's behalf moved me to share and I thank him for being so welcoming. I think of all the Websleuthers that have followed Whitney's case and always feel like we are all out there at Roslyn Lake together, bringing justice and peace and light and beauty.
I went out yesterday to water and look for the other viola and more glass. It took me a couple tries but I did finally find the other plant and moved it to the spot where the pansy expired a few weeks ago. It had a nicely developed root system so I hope it will adjust well to its new home. It looks like it might be another Lemon Sorbet viola, judging by the leaves. We shall see.
Met some new people yesterday, Amber and Trent, who had been out last Fall and planted a miniature rose on the north side of the turnout nearly opposite from the utility pole. They pulled in yesterday to look for it while I was down at the far end of the turnout looking for glass. They had known Whitney from the Starbucks - it seems like a LOT of people knew Whitney from that Starbucks.
At any rate, they couldn't find the rose so they left, and I went back to my glass collecting and soon they came back, she waving her cell phone shouting "I took pictures when we planted it!!". And sure enough by the pine tree in the grass on the berm, there was the rose. It had grown quite a bit but was completely overgrown by the grass. I loaned him my shovel and while he dug it up, I opened up the spot I had set aside for Lordeebee's plant a few weeks ago (sorry, Lordeebee, but we'll make another spot!) and we plopped their rose in. They had seen Whitney's garden recently and were so excited to be able to add their rose, as they had assumed it hadn't survived the winter. We had a nice visit chatting about Whitney, the garden, the elephants, and I so enjoyed meeting them. Amber said she would be coming by more regularly to help with watering too! Two more garden conspirators
I turned in all the glass I've found to the DA's office today. Sasquatch had reminded me Holt has a hearing this Thursday and I didn't want to take a chance mailing it. I had packed it in two padded envelopes, one for each area on the turnout where I recovered the glass. So I drove down to Oregon City this afternoon to the courthouse, which houses the DA's office, and dropped it off. They were very appreciative.
Attached is a garden photo from yesterday, showing the new rose plant (center) and the transplanted viola (lower right corner).
Both Bluegirl and the little mini I planted have lots of new buds forming. I think I counted at least four on each plant.
June 19th - KPTV "A man accused of shooting and killing a 21-year-old Gresham woman in a case that generated national attention is scheduled to change his plea. A plea change and sentencing hearing has been set for Jonathan Holt on July 2. He was arrested and charged with murder for the death of Whitney Heichel in October 2012."

I hope whatever plea deal they made it doesn't include him ever walking out of the prison. It seems Oregon is pretty lenient with their murderers. Too many people who have killed are walking among us because of plea deals.
Thank the Lord, and Hallelujahs are in order. The wait is almost over!lease:
I almost forgot how much I can't stand to look at that face for what it represents.
God bless Whitney, Clint, her family and friends with this, a small step toward solace and peace.
After seeing what Travis Alexander's family went through in the trial of Jodi Arias, I have to hope that this is the best outcome for all concerned. To have to go through a trial must be excruciating for the victim's loved ones.
I too hope Holt is never let out. And CaffeineJean, I too was startled to see Holt's face again. After looking at so many photos of flowers and the garden, it was rather jarring.
Sasquatch, once again thank you for keeping us all up to date here and keeping Whitney's spirit at the forefront of all your posts. I'm honored to work with you on the garden.

Yes on seeng that face again :banghead:
The article is dated the 19th and the caption under the photograph said it was from a booking photo on Sunday.
Does that mean the Sunday of the 16th prior? Or is that an earlier photograph?
Since Oregon's governor has essentially eliminated the death penalty, that was really never on the table. I assume he will plead guilty in return for life with the possibility of parol. Scary. But the upside is that there will be no trial and no appeals for the family to have to deal with. It will be interesting to see what he pleads guilty to, and if he is required to provide details of the crimes. Will he plead guilty to the sexual assault as well or just the murder?
