I cannot find anything on the internet about this other than this thread.

There's an interesting historical interview with her mother about her life growing up in the Soap Creek area (mention of Phyllis on page 3) http://nwmapsco.com/ZybachB/Oral_Histories/Soap_Creek_Valley/11_Murphy/Carlson_et_al_1995.pdf

Phyllis is mentioned in her sister Marjorie's obituary from 2008. https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/name/marjory-fitzwater-obituary?pid=199529311

I couldn't find anything other than that one write up about Phyllis' case other than a mention in a list of Eugene unsolved cases. Strange that there's not any more info at all.
