I missed this afternoon with Nel so many thanks to everyone for the detailed account of the the proceedings. I'm now going to watch the replay. X x 100's

Whereabouts in the 6-hour footage is Nel's female witness?

Right at the start. You really haven't missed much though. As Curlewis said in one of the news clips posted a few pages back, Kim Martin (Reeva's cousin who testified last time) didn't add much and I agree, though not in a disrespectful way. She basically gave the same testimony as before and though this time Roux said a line had been crossed and he was going to cross examine that was a fizzer too. The only time he thought he 'had her' with an interview she gave where she referred to Reeva and an abusive relationship turned out to be a different relationship and Roux backed down and apologised. And that was pretty much it.

The highlights, for me, were Nel's closing arguments. Roux's, which came first, went on and on as is his wont and the only 'big' thing was when he got OP to take off his stumps and walk around the courtroom a bit. Other than that, Roux was pretty tedious viewing IMO but however much you watch, enjoy. Just don't have a drinking game where you take a shot every time 'broken man' gets a mention!

I didn't see him 'teetering unsteadily' on his feet. Is that what happened? Was it pointed out he was quite nimble in his reconstruction video?

Another documentary (in 3 parts) and a feature length film on Pistorius are in the pipeline. The 3 part documentary will be based on the bestselling book Behind the Door.

“The feature-length investigative film is the third such project about the Olympian and convicted murderer to have been announced recently “

The news arrived soon after the announcement of both a three-part South African TV documentary based on the bestselling book, Behind the Door, as well as an ITV investigation by policeman-turned-reporter Mark Williams-Thomas.”

Thanks lithgow. Have just watched her testimony, and although it was moving, I don't think Masipa gave a damn. Look at her almost complete dismissal of Reeva from the very beginning, and then the mollycoddling of the murderer. I did enjoy the part where Roux had to apologise to Kim. Not often he has to apologise!

I'm going to finish watching Nel's closing arguments and then think about what OP is going to pull out of the bag before sentencing. He has 3 weeks. I can't see this 'broken man' taking this lying down.

No, not that I am aware soozie. I still haven't watched the lot - very frustrating afternoon's connectivity - but I did ask about this before he performed his pity parade and thought ok maybe it might come into summing up but IDT it did. No- one has mentioned that Nel ref'd it either - assume he either couldn't or didn't need it.

I am going to have a look at the photos now.

I don't think the video was ever mentioned in the trial. IIRC, it's existence came out during the defence's time and Nel was not able to bring it up as it wasn't mentioned by them or introduced as evidence. I also seem to recall that it emerged around the time that OP's capabilities on his stumps was being led as evidence and during Nel's cross people were saying that if the witness mentioned it then Nel could go there but if they didn't, he couldn't, and of course they didn't.

I remember Nel not being able to bring it up, but the amount of times Roux has accused state witnesses of making something seem worse to paint the murderer in a more negative light, and then he gets OP to hobble slowly and unsteadily round the court deliberately trying to paint him in a more vulnerable position than he really is! I bet he thought that would really play on Masipa's sympathy,

It seems the documentary is not going to be aired in SA at the moment so it is unlikely Masipa will see it.

“A date has yet to be announced for the screening of the interview in South Africa”

I doubt she would have watched it. But I cannot see her as someone that misses all news broadcasts or written news so she will get the highlights as they are reported by SA news agencies, for whatever that is worth.

I remember that she was shocked by the country's backlash at her verdict and sentence, she had to have a security detail assigned to protect her; surely she respects the thoughts and values of her countrymen, right? Even if she was completely clueless about the evidence!

Why does Masipa need another 3 weeks to hand down the sentence? I thought it was going to be done and dusted this week and that OP would be back inside. I'm not convinced this is over.

Even if Masipa does allow her emotions to override her objective judgement, as many of us fear, there is always recourse to the SCA. I suspect that she will avoid allowing it to go back to the SCA and instead give him a sentence that will satisfy the prosecution without giving him the maximum. The SCA has really given her little wriggle room and today Nel used this as a blunt instrument to hammer it home.

I really don't think we have too much to fear but I realise it's a rational fear given her appalling judgement at the trial.

Did you see how Lore Hartzenberger ( sp?) came to his assistance to help move him around and hold onto the bench top. He is perfectly capable of moving on his stumps, hence his evidence of not needing Reeva to walk him to the bathroom to clean his teeth ( as if it ever happened), hence also the entire house being bespoke with marble floors.
Wonder how much Hartzenberger is being paid? ( Wasn't she an unregistered ex child psychologist. )
When I first saw him on stumps, I had empathy for him, but after that ploy.....

I recall Scholtz saying she had done some work with him on "problem- solving" and he certainly seems to be in a state of arrested development.
I notice in the DMail photos Barry got out of his seat into the aisle to see him walking more clearly.

Me too. I assumed that he would be sentenced Fri, 24 hrs to get his stuff and back inside. ( Mannie Witz said that was how it goes. )

But, I think there are scheduling issues- Nels & Roux's, and more importantly I get the feeling she has to get this right if only for her own self-respect. Plus it'll take her a while to write it, check the cases cited with her assistants etc. I don't think she is experienced enough to rattle off a sentence after scanning cases she already knows well.
Of course as I write this -I'm thinking what the hell do I know??How long do UK judges usually take?? A week ?

Anyway, even Chris Greenland said last time around, that whilst he disagreed with the conviction and sentence length, he did think her sentencing judgment was well-written. So maybe, after getting so much wrong previously, she wants to do the final judgment "some justice". After all this is her last comment on this matter. ( I can't see her writing a book upon her imminent retirement. )

I presume she actually still even has professionals, even a past legal mentor, who she can discuss her draft with etc.

basically, I haven't a clue kid!

He wasn't as nimble in court as he was in his reconstruction video. He wasn't embarrassed or crying in that video either.

It's a wonder Masipa isn't thinking he must have had his prosthesis on when he walked, ran, knelt, bent down, walked backwards all whilst carrying a gun the full length of the bedroom and passage to ahoot a woman dead and back again without tripping up over wires, jeans, quilts and fans.....
