I found it interesting that her ladyship actually accused Roux of trying to trick the witness.

Yea... she's just using the old bait n switch tactic like she did in the trial, just before she let OP off with his featherweight sentence.

Roux may very well wear down Charlotte, but she is leaving impressions of Oscar as a most unpleasant and unco-operative prisoner , with a penchant for delusions of grandeur and a propensity to try aggression first in any human exchange....

  • #483
Roux is being disrespectful to Mashabane-- as she answers his question he mutters some disregard under his breath and looks away gathering his papers. Now wiping his eyes and looking away in seeming disbelief at the witnesses testimony.

It's just as well a guard enters the cell first before the nurse. If Oscar is startled, anything can happen.

Unfortunately, I think Charlotte's evidence will count for nothing.

I suspect Masipa will take the same tack that Dr Seuss took yesterday....everyone's allowed to be angry sometimes. There's no evidence here that he's a danger to society. Obviously the murder of Reeva ought to be enough to demonstrate that, but Masipa won't see it that way.

What would have been really valuable would have been if it could have been conclusively shown that Pistorius lied to the doctor who was tasked with preparing a report for the court. Clearly he did, but I'm not sure this was made clear enough.

#OscarPistorius resumes. Mashabane still under cross examination. We’re still hearing about the Voltaren issue. BB

Barry Bateman ‏@barrybateman 7m7 minutes ago
#OscarPistorius Mashabane re-iterates that she did not allow OP to have the Voltaren because it had not been prescribed by the prison doc.

Just ask Derman. Where is Derman, BTW?

#OscarPistorius Roux asking about how the meds are dispensed to the inmates. BB

#OscarPistorius Mashabane says “normally” the inmate will drink the meds in front of the nurse. BB

Barry Bateman ‏@barrybateman 1m1 minute ago
#OscarPistorius Roux says OP would receive his meds, which he would drink on some days, on other days not. BB

  • #489
Wouldn't want him to experience any distress now, would we?

  • #490
Oscar has panic attacks in prison. Good.

#OscarPistorius Roux asks Mashabane to read from the complaints/requests register. BB

Barry Bateman ‏@barrybateman 2m2 minutes ago
#OscarPistorius Mashabane reads entry that OP was given specific medication which he could take when necessary for panic attacks. BB

Barry Bateman ‏@barrybateman 1m1 minute ago
#OscarPistorius Roux says OP tried to ween himself off his meds because he was getting drowsy - which explain the stash of meds. BB

Barry Bateman ‏@barrybateman 2m2 minutes ago
#OscarPistorius Mashabane disputes this - says the meds found was in its packaging, not the meds the prison dispenses. BB

#OscarPistorius Roux says that OP say the body of hanged man when he had access to the phone.
Mashabane says there is no way he saw it. BB

Roux says he had two black eyes from someone who managed to get into the hospital section of the prison-- that he was assaulted but he did not report it, but that is no matter.

Mashabane-- that is not true.

Oh, Roux says he now saw the suicide hanging because he had access to the phone where he could have seen the victim hanging. Mashabane said no way.

Mashabane concedes the event did happen. She believes Oscar heard about it from other prisoners but she was not on duty that day.

#OscarPistorius Roux concludes. Nel says he would like to re-examine. BB

  • #496
Nel is asking Mashabane to review her original incident report because it was written when it was fresh in her mind.
She reads her original report which includes her account of how Oscar was shaking and banging his notebook on the table.
Roux had tried to claim she embellished her account of the incident and Oscar was not shaking with rage.

This is all clearly further hearsay

Roux is not entitled to cross examine on these matters when he has not placed them in primary evidence

But once again Roux is allowed to cross examine in relation to a "version" not placed before the court

puzzling.
