"Scholtz says there is – almost – now a third Oscar, one who has given up, whose spirit is broken and does not have hope for the future."

All three of him are still alive though, and none of his family have had to endure the news that he was shot and killed while cowering in fear in a toilet. However 'broken' he is, he can be out of jail before he's even 40, leaving himself a potential 50 years of life ahead of him. Reeva has no life left, and her family will never see her again. OP's situation is entirely of his own making. If he ever expects anyone to believe he cared about Reeva at all, he should shut the hell up, stop portraying himself as the victim, be grateful for all the time he's been able to spend (as a convicted murderer) at the luxury mansion, and start paying for his crime. But that would take someone with a moral compass, and he doesn't have one.

There has always been a third Oscar dontcha know. It was and still is all about him ... me, myself and I.

#OscarPistorious not testifying in mitigation of sentence is his worst mistake yet during this trial.No-one can show remorse on his behalf

Since when are we interested in his state of mind after the offence. Masipa said he showed remorse immediately after the murder, crying, praying to god, blah, blah, blah. I'd like a dollar for every time I've seen someone do that after committing murder. It's almost expected. I can't tell you how sickened I was by Scholtz and the defence team. I'm angry, I'm upset, but I was expecting it. That didn't help though.

BBM. Many others have a similar opinion JJ.

Can we get a link to the proceedings pretty please........

I heard one SA lawyer say about OP, " he has rights too. ", "mercy" for OP will factor in her decision-making.
It's like a set of scales with 3 weighing plates - she has to weigh the three factors altogether.

Yes, he's entitled to mercy, the same mercy he showed Reeva ... none.

What's the bet his mental illness and desire to work with underprivileged kids disappears the moment he is released, around the same time he suddenly feels the urge to buy a new glock?

Morning everyone.

Sick buckets at the ready as we suffer through St Oscar Part Two.

Interesting but not unexpected. How can he show remorse? He can't because he's not remorseful, so he stays out of the box. Nel would tear him apart and Roux knows it.

He regrets it, but only because of how it's affected his life, and no doubt he blames Reeva for that.

Wow wow, I can't believe they are using her as an expert witness as the "charity expert"
Is this the best you get when paying for the most expensive defence barrister in SA?

I presume She has been chosen to chime with Masipa's weaknesses though.

He's an awfully good ham though Judi, and pretty crafty on the stand. His best strength is talking about himself. I am very surprised that he has not gone up.
Nel would have "destroyed"? But OP would have repeatedly broken down. Masipa would have adjourned, admonished etc etc.

So will the charity expert's line be 'If you don't send Oscar for prison he can do charity work in the future?'. Otherwise I don't see what they can add in mitigation. Charity work (which had promotional benefits for him) that he did before he was a murderer seems pretty irrelevant. And what charity is going to want him as their 'face' anyway. So whatever work it might be, it would have to be low profile as what was fame is now notoriety. If the line they take is what I pondered on above it would be reminiscent of Jodi Arias's 'If you don't execute me I can grow my hair long and donate it to charity'.

Not going to paste up exchanges today as I know my feed will go .

I can type & think at same time but can't type and watch the hearing at same time anyways.

If anyone else wants to do a Zwiebel........

Ah man. I was hoping to hear Oscar say yes my lady. No my lady. I'm very remorseful due to the possible 15 year sentence my lady. Thank you for the tissue for my fake tears my lady.

Lol.

More about Oscar being a "broken" man. Broken is fixable. Blown to bits is not.
