I wonder if him attacking on the day students were taking final exams was a bit "symbolic" for him. This wasn't an ordinary day--it was the day when the students were ready to pass their exams and start their adult lives (I'm assuming "secondary school" in Austria is like high school in the US). If he can't have a successful adulthood, nobody can.

It all started when three men were found dead with gunshot wounds in their heads in the burned-out remains of a lodge near the Petrohan pass.
