Gee, maybe the PI DC actually went to the Sheriff's Office and read all the tips on file. It would be very common for a lawyer to get the PI to read them all and make notes on any tips that weren't from dreams, psychic visions or voices only the tipster can hear. The information is public and the PI can access it by going to the office and there is no payment involved. Perhaps Baez was looking for all "live" sightings so that he could present the jury with all the credible live sighting tips that LE did not follow up with but, while perusing the tip files, DC came across 3 reports by MR about something suspect in the woods. Baez, like any one else I know that ever practiced law, was not going to pay DC to go looking in swamps and woods for a smelly garbage bag. Once DC was no longer employed with Baez, maybe he went to visit MR to check out his story which led him to the area. If you recall when MR called in the first report, he said something like "I'm not saying it is Caylee. . . but".
DC, after talking with MR, calls DH and the rest is history. MR was pretty adamant that the site was important and it WAS around the corner from Caylee's home, so DC probably figured he had located Caylee's remains through MR and called JH to come to the site with him to find the body. DC would not think it appropriate to video the crime scene and he let JH know it. That is why he was 200 feet from JH. They did not locate the body in Nov., so MR got fed up and took it upon himself to go poking around.
I think all this conspiracy and "daisy chain" stuff is ridiculous. DC is a PI. He INVESTIGATED the case and followed up on 3 tips and Kio's statement to LE. He may have even talked to Kio in person, or on the phone. He may have found the tips while working for Baez, but public record never becomes privileged.
Much ado about nothing because nothing is going on to fill the media time slots.
