I knew from day one that this person was not DL's nephew, that horribly photoshopped "family" photo he published along with the blog entry he later erased from his site were far too obvious (printscreened a copy though!).

In many cases it's pretty easy to avoid having a Casey.

Teach your children right from wrong, teach them how to be independent and feed them regular healthy doses of self-confidence by way of praise for who they are rather than for what they give to you or how well they perform in activities they may be involved in. Love them more when their behavior is bad, it is then that they need your love the most. It is when they are children and at their worst that they need to be reminded that even though their behaviors upset you, you still love them and you will not desert them physically or emotionally simply because you are not pleased with them.

Create a healthy environment in which your children will feel safe and secure and part of a "whole", a family, by having the same types of rules for each child. Don't expect your children to act like little adults, they aren't, they are children- screwing up and testing your limits is part of their job. It's your job to be consistent and the one who stays in control, not the child's. Don't give your children adult information and ask them to make an adult decisions (for example- "mommy and daddy fight too much, don't you think it would be best if we break up and live apart? then we will all be happier"). Do not engage in emotional incest...

If you notice something is "off" with your child- do something about it, NOW! because if caught early enough and the behaviors haven't become too embeded there is a chance the child can be helped before things go too far.

But sometimes? Sometimes even good parents can end up with a child like Casey, sometimes the parents can do everything right and still. Though I do not think that is the case here (good parenting, that is).

It appears, at least from what I have gathered upthread that DC is also to be represented by the Anthony's attorney. Unless I am mistaken, which considering all the day's developments is distinctly possible.
