Woman’s Body Found In Kensington Lot


Philadelphia police are investigating the suspicious death of a woman whose body was found a short distance from where the “Kensington strangler” has been striking.
The body of a female believed to be in her 20s was found Wednesday afternoon in an overgrown lot in the 100 block of Tusculum Street.
Investigators said someone call police at about 5 p.m. after spotting the woman’s body in the lot.
Sources said the woman was undressed from the waist down and she apparently had a bag over her face. Early appearances indicate that the woman may have been strangled, but that was not immediately confirmed.

Oh how immensely sad. I saw this on the news.

This is sort of an overpass. There's embakments that lead down to old train tracks. For real there's nobody that would go back in there unless you're out there. It's bad. Very bad.

The fact that someone called 911 is nothing short of amazing. It had to be another woman that went back there to use.

My heart breaks for any family that has to try and close their eyes at night knowing their sister, mom, aunt, daughter is out there. It's so freezing cold out. That doesn't stop the drug trade. Prayers for all the suffering out there, and special prayers they find the guy or men who are murdering these women.

If it is the same guy once again it's daytime. 5:00 it's dark out already but still there's it's day time.

We are watching him escalate, progress down such an evil progression. If this newest is his. This is sickening indeed.

This man must be caught.

Even with the threat of a serial killer looming, the prostitutes are still working the streets with no drop in numbers. The young woman interviewed by the Fox reporter was pitiful. Her voice trembled with desperation and hopelessness. Like so many others, she's toeing the line of the no exit highway with this serial killer now bearing down like a speeding 18-wheeler.

I've witnessed this situation often over the years in New Orleans and have become acquainted with some of the women. You can't talk sense to them. They're scared and desperate but won't let go even if you offer them a way out. They all have trust issues to start with, topped off by drug addictions and undying loyalty to the SOB pimps who hand them out. God help them. But it seems this guy isn't targeting just prostitutes, and women who don't deliberately place themselves in harm's way are equally vulnerable. How awful for the residents living under this fear.

Police: Man who killed 2 other women may be linked to death in Kensington this week

A woman found dead in Kensington this week may have been killed by the man responsible for the stranglings of two women in the neighborhood last month, police said Thursday.

The woman, whose name has not been released pending notification of her family, was 27 - close to the ages of two previous victims. Like those women, she was white. The circumstances of her death are also similar: she was strangled, found nude from the waist down, and showed signs of sexual assault

The word came down from police brass last night, confirming what everyone in Kensington seemed to know in the pits of their stomachs from the start.
The 27-year-old woman found dead in a lot at Front and Tusculum streets Wednesday had indeed been strangled and sexually assaulted, just like the other two women whose deaths have been laid at the feet of the Kensington Strangler.

The latest victim, an East Stroudsburg resident whose name was not released, was positioned face-down, like at least one of the other murder victims, said Deputy Commissioner William Blackburn.

This is so heartbreaking and scary! I'm reading that they've deployed a lot more patrol officers there, along with undercover cops...how is this guy getting away with such blatant attacks in such a small area? Maybe their undercover officers' "cover" needs to be improved, as well as their "coverage."

Speaking of area, has anyone more Google-map-savvy than me mapped out all of the attacks?

KENSINGTON - December 17, 2010 (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police released new surveillance video on Friday of a man who may be the so-called "Kensington Strangler."

The black and white video shows a man in a winter coat walking down a sidewalk. The video was shot on December 6th in the 1800 block of Sergeant Street after a woman survived a sexual assault.

He looks like he could be muslim looking at the video, looks like he may have the full beard, maybe something on his head, wrap, hat something.

I guess the police have been flooding streets of Kensington making low level arrests, prositution, drugs and getting DNA from everyone.

I don't know if they have put out flyers in the neighborhood, but I think that would be better than having stuff online.


Its a shame that this case hasn't gotten more national attention but I guess this is par for the course.

Poor Casey Mahoney. I so wish she would have stayed up in East Stroudsburg. Like Bessie relayed though the pull is too strong. The news said that Ms. Mahoney had been in court on Monday for a DUI and soon left for Philly when she was through.

For the record though I can tell you almost 100% these women/young ladies do not have a pimp. Not that would be better, but at least they'd have some sort of protection if that makes sense.

O.K. originally I thought he walked odd. We then concluded it was the usual pants on the ground walk. I only saw the video on TV, but now I think it's a "jailhouse walk". I don't know what it's called. The news said he has an odd gait and a limp that favors his left foot.

Personally i know men that have been in prison. That walk they do I used to call "the hook". It's deliberate. They limp on purpose. I think this just may be what he's doing.

Beard does look as if he could be Muslim. However, if the original sketch is correct he had a lil scruffy. Little goatee.

The scarriest part is that he's out there. Somebody knows him. Again this is just me, but the neighborhood where this is happening has a huge Latino population. At first I thought perhaps he's Dominican. I'm not sure now. There are African American neighbors here as well, but the corners are Latino almost always. Just thinking they had to see them. People don't miss a thing out on the corners.

Again this is just MO, but I'd think the dealers are a tad miffed. Getting busted right now if you're out there working would actually be a Blessing. You might get sick, but you'll be alive.

RIP Casey Mahoney. I am so sorry you had to meet the end like this.
