Didn't the police state that from the audio they heard it sounded like she did not know him? Clearly with the card going back to Maryland almost immediately says something. Maybe she was being stalked and didn't even know it. We have seen that happen a lot. The video to me looks like a completely random attack. It looks to me like someone was driving around looking for a victim and he passed her and decided she was the one. Being her size myself I know what easy targets petite females make. I know I couldn't fight off a 13 year old boy if his adrenaline was pumping. If the card didn't go directly back to Maryland I would say this is random kinda like the Edwin Hall attack. The fact it went back to Maryland is throwing me and the search area with that is scary. Was the card used in Maryland and then back in Pennsylvania? If so anyone know the travel time between the two places? Any possible tolls between the two? They usually have videos and it seems a grey car with windows missing could be spotted easily.

The first thing we can address is how to defend yourself......against a 13 year old boy or grown man.

1.) Take the thumbs on each hand, and drive them into the guys eye sockets as deep as possible----instant blindness.

2.) Ball both of your fist up as tight as possible, bring both fist into the perps ears with as much force as humanly possible. You may have heard this referred to as "boxing someones ears". It causes instant disorientation and a huge amount of pain.

3.) Once again, ball your fist up as tight as possible. Hit the perp dead smack in the middle of the throat, somewhere in the vicinity of the adams' apple is good. Use as much force as you can possibly muster, you only get one shot at it. This will likely result in a tearing or collapes of the esophagus, the perp will immediatly start violently choking and his lungs will begin to fill with blood. Hanging on to your skinny butt will be the last thing on his mind.

4.) After doing one of the above............RUN !!!!!

As to the rest of your question:

As far as I've heard, her card was only used in Maryland thus far. I heard that the drive from where she was abducted to where he was seen at the bank is approx. 75 miles.

I'm almost positive that this "[modsnip]" character has probably been under some pretty hot lights in an interrogation room by now. Obviously, he didn't name names. As of midday yesterday, they started releasing videos, pictures, and screen grabs in rapid fashion. I'm thinking part of the reason for that was because the interview with [modsnip] didn't turn out to lead anywhere.

BBM That's true. That's what is great about WS. When someone has a question, another of you has already answered it . Ok so, [modsnip] is looking less likely. But she did live in MD for awhile and must have other friends there and/ or online friends there at least. Perhaps some mutual with [modsnip], perhaps not. Who was it that said she was ' set up because she had a good paying job''? Unfortunately , I have had the luxury of having some very seedy associates through family ,etc. A good paying job is not necessarily a good paying job to everyone. We are very lower middle class and yet we have ' less fortunate' ;) friends who feel we are ' RICH' because we can pay our bills and have cable tv and can eat out every week . KWIM? They feel that we should not only LEND them money , but just GIVE it to them because we have 'plenty' and they cannot/will not hold a job . I think we all know those type of people. So now I'm thinking could Carlesha have some SM friends who see her online posting pics ( forgive me, i have not even looked at her SM, don't know if it's available so here comes Speculating ) of going out with friends to a nice cafe? Wearing a new outfit? Going to football games or weekends out of town? The kind of things a lot of people do. But to the aforementioned caliber of ' friend' these things would be seen as just ' flaunting ' your wealth! When you have nothing $500 bucks seems like winning the lottery . So some may have seen her and assumed she was really really well off and had tons of money laying around. ** Speculative**

No, I do understand how to defend myself. I was just saying it's difficult. I worked in a mental hospital and was trained and there were times where even all of my training didn't outweigh the strength of the other person.

Just 75 miles between the two? Didn't they say the car had Pennsylvania plates?

NEW VIDEO, CLEAR PICTURES RELEASED OF PERSON OF INTEREST IN GERMANTOWN ABDUCTION
Updated 2 hrs 50 mins ago

The time stamp on the video shows 6:04 a.m. on November 3, 2014.

Earlier Tuesday, Action News obtained new surveillance video showing the moments just before 22-year-old Carlesha Freeland-Gaither was forcibly abducted.

The video shows the first moment Sunday night when the victim came in contact with the large man who took her.

The man is seen reaching his hand out to her on the 5400 block of Greene Street and Freeland-Gaither slowly backing away.

She tries to get around the man again, and that's when he lunges and grabs her. The two then disappear from view.

http://6abc.com/378388/

In this video, they speak about the breaking glass. I guess it has never been established if there was indeed a gunshot that broke the glass or if Carlesha kicked out that glass. Does anyone have confirmation of one or the other? I choose to believe she kicked it out and she's a fighter. She is small but mighty and she's not going to stop fighting until she is home!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only discussion I've heard about that is in regards to what ISN'T on the car. A front plate, and an inspection sticker. Neither of those items is visible, which I assume means that they believe the car is registered somewhere other than Pennsylvania.

Anyone else think the man in the store video looks like the man hugging her mom from behind at the news presser?
I'm working on enlarging the stills. jmo

I do see a similarity when looking at the photos, BUT I watched the presser live yesterday, I don't know who he is, but IMO he is considerably taller than the POI, he was more or less the tallest person in the room at the presser. The POI doesn't seem to be that much taller than Carlesha. Facially I do see a similarity though.

The car did have a front plate, LE said so at the presser

Very well said. I've had thoughts along the same lines. There is a reason why the various agencies started offering the reward money so quickly. The "friends" you described are the same ones that are motivated enough by reward money to turn against their friends or even family members.

The guy in the videos and the pictures is dressed up as if he is fixing to go on a camping trip in the Antarctica. I think he is a lot smaller than he appears to be due to that over-sized bulky coat he keeps wearing. Dripping wet, that kid probably is gonna weigh about 130-150 pounds. The guy with the family looked like at least 200 pounds (+) to me. That coat and that hood is part of his disguise, it even appears to me that he is wearing some sort of ski pants or something, to bulk him up even more for the cameras.

The fact that both windows are kicked out of the car would make it very easy to identify. I wonder where he ditched it.

  • #711
It feels as though we're just going around in circles. When there's so much footage and so much reward money, I just find it ludicrous that he hasn't been caught yet. If I knew him, regardless of how close we were I'd be itching to turn him in, and not just for the money. Surely somebody who knows him is acutely aware of how disgusting and inhumane the footage is!?

Okay........yeah, I'm confused by all of that. Yesterday there was talk about whether the front tags might have been one of those novelty plates or not.......you know, with your name on it or some ball team. I'm really not too clear if they have a good idea which state the car is registered in.
What I do know is that he was using her debit card there in Maryland, 9 hours after she was grabbed.

IMO, while the police may not be able to get fingerprints from the counter in the convenience store, it strikes me that the perpetrator firmly holds the edge of the door to the cooler and perhaps there is a better chance of obtaining fingerprints from it.

Any camera from the area of the ATM? I wonder if it's possible to know if he was alone.

I'm so worried for Carlesha. If this was money motivated why take her? Just grab her wallet and GO. Most bank ATMs have withdrawal limits, typically between 300$-500$. Not with a life or spending forever in jail.

He also touched the Atm doors and atm screen with bare hands. Most Atm of that nature have a street light camera to go and come away form them by law. Bank suppose to have cameras in 1st few stop light of them.

From my understanding they have scanners in the camera. for height ,weight ,color of clothing. His coat has a logo on the chest part. he is has about 3-4 layers of clothing a bomber jacket .a hoody seat shirt /and shirt . The bottom maybe he some shorts and heavier pants on.

Look like he is smirking with a smile with money or papers in his hand. Kid napping, assault, strong armed robbery, he is also robbing this bank, grand larceny. Looks more like rape attempt than a robbery. I think robbery was just the bonus... It look like cigar in his hand of sorts, may be he asked to speak to her. or conned with directions, then some how she knew it was ruse. I think he was watching her routine to call her bf on that corner. He knows his timing is good.

I see her hands come inside her jacket to grab something phone/knife. Im just shocked she didn't fall sooner once he grabbed her and started the fighting. I see he is buy smoking items in the store video. Smoking leaves a smell.. search dogs shouldnt have hard time finding him.

Having grown up near Baltimore, I don't necessarily think he is connected to maryland. Philly is right on 95 and 295. Anyone from that area knows the further north you go on 95, the more traffic/congestion/construction/police presence you will run into. The NJ turnpike has few exits, lots of tolls, and a heavy police presence taking radar. I've hit major delays on the turnpike at 2am, 4am, pretty much around the clock.

Driving south on 95, once you get into Maryland, the traffic lets up considerably. Baltimore has a more typical 6-10am rush hour then clears out. DC has more congestion, but there are ways to avoid it. Once you get past NoVa, it's smooth sailing.

This is assuming he stayed on 95.

Also, Aberdeen and Leonardtown are like opposite ends of the earth. Southern maryland is very rural, lots of small fishing and crabbing towns. Aberdeen is 30-45 minutes from downtown baltimore and much more suburban.

I can't remember exactly what was said, I've been looking for the presser but it doesn't seem to be available to watch again. I am pretty sure it was a question from a reporter, and they asked if they thought the plates were MD plates.. I can't remember what the response was but it wasn't a yes or no answer, possibly a 'we're looking into it' answer.

Don't forget......he is financed now......he's got road money. He may be hop-scotching one step ahead of them at this point, hopefully they are smart enough to continue to let him use the debit card so they can track his movements. If they chose to shut down the bank account, it might make things a whole lot more difficult.

Is it the same guy in the abduction, ATM, and the store?

Are you asking personal opinion wise? Or if its been confirmed?

Personal opinion wise I say yes it is due to the manner in which this person walks and his height. Mainstream media are posting all of the things you mentioned together, so I would assume it has been indicated heavily to them that we should be looking for one person.

I think it's the same guy too. At the ATM and convenience store for sure, but only because of a silly reason - I think his hand ( and where his jacket sleeve falls) looks the same at the ATM (on the left) and the convenience store (on the right) :blushing:

An excellent point! Although I'd like to think that he's stupid enough to have his phone on him. If someone who knows him well enough could give him up, I'm pretty sure that would be a great help in pin pointing his location (assuming he's got it switched on, which, due to the number of times he's been caught on camera thus far I won't discount!)

Another thing to point out.........I was reading the "late night" posts (12 A.M. to 4 A.M.) earlier this morning, and they were pointing out that he walks with his toes pointed out, sort of waddles like a duck. It is a pretty distinguishable walk, you would think friends of his would notice it as well.
