IMO, while the police may not be able to get fingerprints from the counter in the convenience store, it strikes me that the perpetrator firmly holds the edge of the door to the cooler and perhaps there is a better chance of obtaining fingerprints from it.

I'm sure they have dusted everything they can dust to get the prints of this guy. The problem seems to be that he has about a 10 hour head start on them, and so how many other people touched the same areas AFTER he did ? That would basically eliminate any useful prints that may have been there. That would especially apply at the ATM and the convenience store, only God knows how many other people came and went before the cops were able to track him to those locations and try to get prints lifted. It seems like to me that getting prints off of the knife would be the easiest, but who knows if he was wearing gloves or not ? He probably was.

Another problem I just thought of.............he may be very young...........they may not have his fingerprints on file anyway, even if they could lift them off of something.

And with areas like ATMs, regardless of how many people come after him, taking useful fingerprints will be a nightmare. There will be fingerprints everywhere from the get-go, and this would lead to well-used areas like this being a haven for grease and dirt from every user. This would also be the case pretty much everywhere in the convenience store.

Any analyses would just show partials as far as the eye could see. Pointless, IMO.

In Texas, beginning several years ago, we had to give a thumb print for our driver's license renewal. Whether or not LE can access THOSE prints in a case like this, I would have no idea. Whether or not PA or MD has prints on DLs , hopefully a local can answer.

Assuming he has a license to begin with - considering everything else he's done, I wouldn't be surprised if driving without one was the least of his worries!

I can't remember exactly what was said, I've been looking for the presser but it doesn't seem to be available to watch again. I am pretty sure it was a question from a reporter, and they asked if they thought the plates were MD plates.. I can't remember what the response was but it wasn't a yes or no answer, possibly a 'we're looking into it' answer.

I think they md plates(the car) he has ez pass on the car. The color code for that is unique.. I think she was alive when he went to the atm, he looks back at the car. He look back in certain area of his car. you can tell by how his head does not move. In the store he look more cold and aware the store owner should put no hoody or over head gear sign.,the law should tell that store owner that. I saw him glace at the store atm, this shows me he took a certain amount out in before. His direction is right towards that,, he buy ,water smokes , chips. he does not turn to soon when exiting the door.

I think he has been arrested before. He is to brazen, he gambled his odds. Some part of me seem to say he is high on something. He moves very erratic and methodical.

Not sure why I didn't even think about this before but the car that pulled up on the street and stopped, waited, then backed away......what has been said about that car? Did those people call 911?

Info on that is early in the thread. The driver backed up when he heard the tap tap pop pop (the windows breaking) Because he thought it was gunshots. He was not the person that called 911 but police have spoken to him.

This does not show any signs of a hoax, to me! You can feel the desperation as he drags her! Her adrenaline seems genuine and is more intense than any acting I have ever seen. Her family's sadness is palpable. My opinion.

Oh, I didn't mean her family. And I honestly don't think it is. Just speculating.

It looks like he got a receipt from the ATM and that's what he's looking at. Wonder if he took the receipt with him, or if he put it in the ATM trash slot. His would be the only prints on that.

I don't think it's victim blaming at all to question why she didn't call her BF as they'd obviously pre-arranged. Either he or she or both of them felt it necessary to have that plan in place, so there must have been a reason, right? Maybe she felt confident that night. Maybe it ticked her off that grown women have to rely on the aid of men to keep them safe from twisted perverts in our society. That does make a lot of young women very angry. My oldest three daughters are in their mid/late 20's and early 30's and we have these discussions ALL the time. Maybe she just forgot, and figured it was no big deal to walk the few blocks.

Whatever the reason she didn't call, whether by choice or by forgetting, she didn't deserve this. In an ideal world she should have been able to walk those few blocks in perfect safety. Sadly, that's not the world we live in so we have to find a balance between what it "should be" and what it IS, and make smart choices based on that.

MOO, and all that good stuff.

Yes, this. I know many times....too many....I've not called or been late calling a prearranged call because I felt "safe." And if things went bad I'd be so regretful I hadn't taken that five seconds to do that small thing. Sadly if I ever vanished nobody would say I was reliable about staying in touch.

Having finally seen the closer video that's gotta be the same guy as Convenience Store Guy based on that penguin walk. The person in all the videos walks exactly the same! These videos are so horrifying. The guy is so focused and bold and predatory.

OMG Someone knows who he is!!
I just wish they would come forward
I find this so frustrating. LE know she was taken. They know who used her debit card, at least they know what he looks like, but they don't know where she is
Her family must be near crazy. I would be

Re: the hoax hypothesis, I haven't for a moment thought it was a hoax, but if we're all wrong about that then we ought to at least consider that it has the world discussing self defense. That could be the silver lining to come out of this truly horrible situation.

Yes! That's a really good point. I don't see him having the brains to take it with him, IMO.

Anyone else think the man in the store video looks like the man hugging her mom from behind at the news presser?
I'm working on enlarging the stills. jmo

Yes, about 10 pages ago LOL!! I enlarged them and it's uncanny.

The guy in the videos and the pictures is dressed up as if he is fixing to go on a camping trip in the Antarctica. I think he is a lot smaller than he appears to be due to that over-sized bulky coat he keeps wearing. Dripping wet, that kid probably is gonna weigh about 130-150 pounds. The guy with the family looked like at least 200 pounds (+) to me. That coat and that hood is part of his disguise, it even appears to me that he is wearing some sort of ski pants or something, to bulk him up even more for the cameras.

He's on the shortish side as well based on his height vs. Carlesha's in the "handshake" video. IMO if she's 5' 3-4" he's only about 5' 6-7".

NEW VIDEO, CLEAR PICTURES RELEASED OF PERSON OF INTEREST IN GERMANTOWN ABDUCTION
Updated 2 hrs 50 mins ago

The time stamp on the video shows 6:04 a.m. on November 3, 2014.

Earlier Tuesday, Action News obtained new surveillance video showing the moments just before 22-year-old Carlesha Freeland-Gaither was forcibly abducted.

The video shows the first moment Sunday night when the victim came in contact with the large man who took her.

The man is seen reaching his hand out to her on the 5400 block of Greene Street and Freeland-Gaither slowly backing away.

She tries to get around the man again, and that's when he lunges and grabs her. The two then disappear from view.

Interesting note on the video "please note how the person of interest walks".

That and the fact that an innocent woman hasn't been kidnapped among other things too horrible to imagine.

I thought hoax for two reasons: captured so perfectly on video and the fact that she hangs on to those papers in her hand. However, her kicking out the windows cancels both of those others out IMO. Unless those windows were scored previously to enable breakage I just don't see how anyone could kick them out unless they were super strong with adrenaline.

It's very common knowledge depending on the the neighborhood and experience. She had had enough time to ascertain he was following her and his right hand was hidden. She reacted with street smart and went toward a well lit corner, but he over-powered her too far from others who were of a mind to help.

My mind can be really disjointed at times and below is a prime example.

Maybe the reason Carlesha turned around to face the man was to confront him. A friend of mine who is LE told me a long time ago that if I ever felt like I was being followed to immediately head to a lighted area or where there were other people but to also turn around and confront him harshly, like “WHAT DO YOU WANT”. My friend said someone who is attempting to rob or abduct you doesn't expect you to show no fear or to see his face so most likely he would run away.
I believe that Carlesha’s abductor is the obsessive friend from MD. [modsnip]. He went to the trouble of bringing his grandparents to Carlesha’s house to ask permission to take her out and was shut down in front of his family so he must have been embarrassed and probably angry. So now Carlesha has moved in with her bf (according to her family in their interview) and he must be imagining that this guy is getting everything he was denied and he wants Carlesha to pay for that.
We’ve all agreed that Carlesha did everything right to try and get away from this crazy man but one thing has bothered me from the beginning. Others have mentioned and I agree how hard it is to break out a car window especially for a small woman like Carlesha. I just can’t wrap my head around her breaking out one window then turning to face the other direction and kicking out the second one. Could it be that after she kicked out the first window he did use a gun and shoot into the car and hit the other one? I’m not saying he killed her but maybe it was to scare her so she would stop screaming. Maybe that’s how he kept her from jumping out of one of the windows.
Unfortunately I don’t think this is going to end well for this lovely lady. I think his plan all along was to punish her for rejecting him. Watching how brazen he’s been and how unconcerned he obviously is about being recognized it wouldn't surprise me if he expected to die maybe even a suicide by cop scenario. I so hope I’m wrong on this because this is just so sad. Of course, this all is JMO.
