From the Find Cherrie Mahan Facebook Page
Predators don’t always look like strangers lurking in the dark.
Many times they’re friends, family, neighbors. Sometimes they’re trusted voices in the community. Even the people no one would ever question.
For decades, abuse and exploitation of children, both girls and boys, has been far more common and far more hidden than people want to admit.
There are people in our community who know what happened to Cherrie Mahan. 41 years later, many still remain silent. They walk amongst us. They follow this page.
Staying quiet about abuse doesn’t make it go away. It gives predators more access, more power, and, unfortunately, more victims.
In one of the first inmate letters Janice received, she was told “money hid the truth from you.” No amount of money, status, loyalty, or fear should ever come before protecting innocent children.
You still have the chance to do the right thing. Not just for Cherrie, but for the countless victims of childhood sexual abuse.
Protect the children. Expose the truth.
