GREENSBURG, Pa. (KDKA) -- Police are looking for a 23-year-old woman from Jeannette who is believed to be in danger after her car was found abandoned in Greensburg.

Chloe Stein hasn't been heard from since 11 p.m. Monday. Police issued a Missing Endangered Person Advisory for her, saying they believe she may be at special risk of harm or injury.

Her mom said Stein finished working at the Sonic in Hempfield Township after 10, dropped off a co-worker, came back, then headed home.

Chloe Stein, 23, was last seen leaving the Sonic restaurant off Route 30 in Hempfield around 10:30 p.m. Monday after she was finished working at the eatery, police said. She was driving a white Volkswagen Beetle, which was found abandoned underneath the Amos K. Hutchinson Bypass between North Greengate Road and Grapeville.

Westmoreland County 911 confirms state police and fire units are on Radebaugh Road in Hempfield Township. Sky 4 over the scene saw officers investigating the abandoned car.

I wonder which location is correct?

Poor Chloe! This girl is on my heart this evening. I can’t imagine what her parents and loved ones are going through!!
I went to Penn State in 2001 and I’m from the suburbs outside of Pittsburgh. I am going to be reading up on everything about this situation when I can later.
I was thinking…. It’s just so brazen and odd to actually attempt to impersonate an officer. I googled about it and was surprised to see this from February… only a few months ago. I wonder where this guy is now…

We’re all thinking of you, Chloe!

I don’t know if this is allowed because I can only find it on Facebook… but this is the Pennsylvania State Police news conference about this case. STATE POLICE in Greensburg on Search for missing Penn State senior, Chole Stein, 23 of Jeannette. ❗️Missing Person❗️ PSP is searching Chloe Stein 23... | By Jennifer Borrasso -TV News | Facebook
At 2:15 of the video the police says that a passer by saw Chloe's car parked at the location where it was later found at about 10 after 11 PM (on May 1). So the timeframe is about 30 minutes from when Chloe texted her bf that she was pulled over by police.

Timeline from news conference

May 1

  • Leaves work (Sonic restaurant) with a co-worker, takes them home, then returns to work because she had keys that had to go back to work, her manager notifies her about that and she drives back to Sonic to return the keys.
  • Roughly 10:30pm - last seen by her manager at Sonic.
  • Maybe 3-4 min later - arrives to the location to where her vehicle is found.
  • Roughly 10:40pm - she sends message to her boyfriend.
  • 11:10pm - eyewitness sees the car but no one inside.
May 2
  • A family member reports her missing to the state police after lunchtime when they came across the vehicle.

There's an abandoned railroad tunnel nearby, Radebaugh Old Tunnel, it was an extra mainline track decades ago for what was the Pennsylvania Railroad, now part of Norfolk Southern. Hopefully LE and searchers will check it.

It is not to be confused with the Witches' Tunnel, or Carr's Tunnel, located much further to the east.
