GUILTY PA - Christina Regusters for kidnap, rape of 5yo girl, Philadelphia, 14 Jan 2013 - #4

  • #21
Heartbreaking.
I don't know if anyone remembers waaaaay back when IIRC the little girl had been found but before Regusters was arrested there was a post on one of the 'support' FB pages with someone saying that these were the exact injuries that she had suffered and everyone kind of dismissed it as a troll because it was just too horrible & graphic and how could she have been injured that badly if she was walking around.

Well, it wasn't a troll. :(

Dressed in a pink sweater, lime green skirt and looking more mature than her 7 years, a Philadelphia girl who was abducted last year from her kindergarten and raped repeatedly testified Wednesday in a hushed courtroom about her 19-hour ordeal.

It was 4:20 a.m. on Jan. 15, 2013. Myers was walking by the park at 69th and Ruskin Lane when he heard cries echo through the cold darkness. “Help! Help! Help!”

Myers walked toward the voice and saw a little girl. She was shivering and barefoot, cowering under a swing set wearing only an oversized black T-shirt. He lifted her up over the fence that separated them and enveloped her in his Under Armour hoodie to keep her warm. Moments later, holding her in his left arm, he called 911...

“I’m hurt. I’m scared to find my way home,” the girl could be heard saying on a 911 recording played in a Philadelphia courtroom.

Just no words for this.

The coverage of this trial has been pathetic. This case is very important to the people of Philadelphia and they deserve better than 3-day old so-called updates.
Just reading the little girl's words "I was eating my breakfast. .." made me so full of rage that my fists clenched up so tightly that I left marks on my palms where my very short fingernails dug in. I hope they get her good in prison.

I want to know if the child was cross examined...and what was asked if she was.

I've always wondered how defense attorneys that defend the worst of the worst manage to cross examine children in cases like this...and ever get a good nights sleep....I come away thinking, that there must be something wrong with them....IMO

I haven't seen anything about the girl being cross-examined. I think she was only questioned by the prosecutor, who is denying that a man was involved as the child claims. The defense is arguing that LE arrested the wrong person. I don't think the judge would allow the defense to question a child too harshly. If she had been cross-examined, I think the defense would only be allowed to ask simple questions that would cast doubt on the identity of the kidnapper-rapist. The defense may have waived cross-examining the victim out of compassion for her. MOO

Prosecutors, however, believe Regusters acted alone. The defense has argued that police have the wrong suspect.

This part from the victim's mother's testimony is just heartbreaking:

In earlier testimony yesterday, the child's mother broke down when she recalled seeing her daughter for the first time after the kidnapping. The normally "upbeat" girl "looked sleepy" and held her arms across her body, she said.

"I said, 'Hi, Boo,' [but when] I tried to hug her, she started screaming," the mother said. " 'What's wrong?' " she said she asked her daughter. " 'I hurt. I hurt,' " the girl replied.

I get all choked up every time I read this thread...I can't imagine what those jurors are going through...IMO I hope they all take full advantage of the therapy that's offered.

So it looks like next week we will hear testimony from the cousin's child that accuses CR of fondling her and then cutting her braids off when she threatened to tell. Also the defendant will take the stand.
The only question is whether the other residents of the house will testify.

I still can't fully wrap my head around the fact that Christina acted alone. What woman would do this to a child?? Not that it's any excuse, but I wonder what kind of childhood CR had. What could have happened in her life to make her do such acts on a child? I'm just too outdone.

Next week we can expect to see CR take the stand. Any guesses as to what the story will be?

I wasn't there and have no idea who did it?

My father forced me to kidnap her and he assaulted N?

I blacked out and don't know what happened?

I came home and saw the girl under the bed and helped her as best I could?

Regusters Cries Out in Court as Her Cousin Testifies, Jury Pulled from Room
Detective reveals suspect was not read her Miranda rights when she gave a statement to police

http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news...Before-Giving-Police-Statement-273770831.html

Snip:
An emotional outburst by Christina Regusters prompted the jury to be ushered from a Philadelphia courtroom on Wednesday afternoon during the woman's kidnapping and rape trial.

"I never touched your child. She's lying," the 21-year-old yelled as she listened to testimony from her cousin Katrina Regusters.

The cousin told prosecutors Christina abused her 11-year-old daughter three times in the past.

Also:

The courtroom fireworks came on the same day the defendant took the stand and her attorney scored a win by having a statement she made to police suppressed.
~~~~~~~
Fred Harrison, Christina Regusters' attorney, began the day at Judge Jeffrey Minehart's bench motioning to have the woman's Feb. 14, 2013 statement suppressed. He said Regusters was not read her Miranda rights before talking to police.
The judge later ruled in favor with the motion as long as Regusters doesn't take the stand. Should she, the judge said, then the statement would be fair game for prosecutors.
And much more......
D***, they didn't recite her Miranda rights? I didn't know that, and I hope it doesn't affect the outcome of the trial. I'd love to hear her statement to LE. I highly doubt she'll take the stand.
Can anyone shed some light on this business about CR removing some of the victim's teeth? I thought there was a brief mention of it but what was that about?
I'm also very surprised at the lack of publicity or interest surrounding this incredibly unusual and heinous case. Thanks to the WS members for showing interest and for posting news and updates on it.
Also, I wonder if CR has some personality disorder issues. I know multiple personality disorder is rare but the weird facts about her pretending to be a teen, a man, and woman are just so bizarre. Or maybe I'm just trying to make sense out of something that defies all sense and humanity.
