2/12/21 Update: Status hearing was cancelled. Next motions hearing on 2/25/21 re defense motion opposing use of internet history & separate bestiality charge from murder counts.
2/25/21 Update: All parties met virtually to lay out details in a 12-part motion filed by Snyder's lawyer, Dennis Charles. The judge scheduled another hearing for two parts of the motion, the first regarding Snyder's charge of tampering with evidence. She's accused to destroying or otherwise tampering with a cell phone once in her possession. The other motion was to have Snyder tried separately for her charges of having sexual intercourse with an animal. The defense also filed a motion for a change of venue or a change of venire--meaning a jury from outside Berks would be selected & bused to Reading to hear the trial. No hearing date has been scheduled yet for that motion. Defense attorney Charles said he plans to present an insanity defense for Snyder. Snyder remains in the Berks County Jail without bail. The next evidentiary motions hearing is scheduled for 4/9/21.

Thank you for this update @Niner. And especially for putting “mom” in quotation marks. She lost the privilege of being called mom when she murdered her kids.

Lisa Snyder:
Formerly known as mom.
Now known as monster.

One week after her children were found hanging from a dog lead in the basement of her Berks County home, Lisa Snyder sent a text message to her friend, Jessica Senft.

“I need two strong drinks,” Snyder wrote, according to Senft.

Senft invited Snyder over and the women huddled on the porch of Senft’s Slatington home to talk about Snyder’s children, Conner and Brinley.

As the alcohol soothed Snyder’s nerves, said Senft, who testified at Snyder’s preliminary hearing Wednesday at the Berks County Courthouse, Snyder became more relaxed. She eventually confided in her friend that she expected to be arrested for Conner and Brinley’s deaths, but believed she’d be released on bail since she had no prior criminal record.

“And when she got out, she would kill herself,” Senft said.

“These children were found hanged. Their mother was the only adult in the house,” Assistant District Attorney Margaret McCallum said.

McCallum said Snyder’s story, that Conner took his own life and that of his little sister Sept. 23 didn’t make sense, especially since an occupational therapist who worked with Conner at Greenwich Elementary told police that the third grader lacked the dexterity to fasten the dog lead into two nooses.

"Conner was incapable of doing this to himself. He was incapable of doing this to his sister,” McCallum said.

Paramedic Eric Bubbenmoyer said he rushed into the home after getting the call that two children were hanging inside. Bubbenmoyer said he passed Snyder, who was sitting on the front steps of the house, talking on her cellphone.

Bubbenmoyer described Snyder as “very anxious, very nervous,” but added, “she was not crying.”

Trooper Jeffrey Hummel helped carry the children out of the basement on stretchers after paramedics were unable to revive them and called for a helicopter to take them to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. Hummel fought back tears as McCallum asked him to identify the children from photos.

Snyder’s attorney, Dennis Charles, questioned Hummel about why he was so upset, since he didn’t know the children.

“I’m human,” the trooper replied.

Lisa Snyder will stand trial in hanging deaths of her two children: ‘Conner was incapable of doing this to himself’

Timeline of events in investigation of Berks children found hanged in basement

What a cold insensitive thing to say to this man.

The defense attorney should tear up as well knowing they are representing a so called mom who callously murdered her two children.

Since when do we stop emotionally caring about children even though they aren't our own?

I've cried myself too many times to remember over the monstrous murders against the most defenseless little victims, and I'm positive I'm not alone by any means.

I have posted many times over the years when we've discussed way too many cases about murdered children that it's a neverending trail of tears.

Yes, it is because more, and more innocent children are being brutally killed in unimaginable sadistic ways. Sadly, they seem to be happening even more often now so the tears will continue to flow.

May the harshest justice be rendered against this horrible, horrible woman.

It's still at the top of my long list as one of the worst cold, and cruel murders of two helpless children I've seen in recent memory.

As of today - here's what we have:

Berks County Court summarizes the case activity using three categories: Status Info, Calendar Events, and Docket Entries. IMO, none of the above are showing any real progress with this case.

For example --under "Status Info" the court reported a Status Hearing Scheduled on 6/24/21 but there was no corresponding entry under "Calendar Events" or a "Docket Entry" resulting from the update so I believe it's safe to say the hearing did not happen.

Under "Calendar Events" - there had been no entry since 4/9/21 (Argument Scheduled at 8:30 AM with Judge Paul Yatron) but there's currently a Status Hearing added for 8/3/21 at 9AM with Judge Patrick Barrett.

However, the last Docket Entry was 6/10/21 -- Proof of Service for Memorandum of Law (deny Def motion for writ).

4/9/21 Update: Berks County President Judge Paul Yatron signaled during a pretrial hearing in Reading Friday that he would grant a defense motion to sever charges related to animal abuse from the homicide counts, telling Assistant District Attorney Margaret McCallum that he could not envision a reason for a jury to hear about the salacious allegations that wasn’t prejudicial. In court Friday, Trooper Jordan Hoffman testified that Snyder called the barracks after her phones were seized, complaining that investigators also took a phone that she purchased after her children’s deaths. Cpl. John Maggs, a state police car technology expert, testified that the phone was paired with Snyder’s vehicle on Sept. 27, four days after the children were found hanging. Trooper Daniel Womer testified that he executed a search warrant for Snyder’s Facebook account & discovered a lengthy “sexually explicit exchange” with a man. Judge Yatron warned McCallum that he would not allow the trooper to read the transcript into the record.
4/12/21: Order granting motion for transcript (4/9/21 evidentiary hearing & argument). 4/26/21: Stenographer's Transcript Filed-4/9/21 Omnibus Pretrial Hearing. 5/21/21: Defendant's Brief in Support of Counts 1 & 2 of her Omnibus Pretrial Motion for Relief & Memorandum of Law in Support of the Commonwealth's Request to Introduce Statements Pursuant to 42.
6/10/21: Proof of Service for Memorandum of Law (deny defense's motion for writ). A status hearing was scheduled for 6/24/21, but cancelled. Next status hearing on 8/3/21 @ 9am with Judge Patrick Barrett.
