I wondered why this case was listed under current events but the undocumented immigrant that killed two California troopers was listed under mass shootings. Now I remember.

Troopers handcuffs, troopers patrol car....tears and cheers here!

ETA: I like these side by side photos. Looks like he was trying to change his appearance with his hair, mustache and soul patch. (Again I stand corrected, he was shaving but bet he used a razor)

O/T..my how times have changed! Did you notice on the probable cause document there are hair color choices of pink, green, purple?

I still have tons of unanswered questions, chief of these is whether he did plan on leaving the area.

I am having a hard time with the injuries on his face already there when he was arrested. The are new injuries.

  • #592
Yeah. He went down on his knees and put his hands in the air.

I am thinking he was likely pushed face down onto the ground to handcuff him.
With his hands handcuffed he would not be able to wipe off the streak of blood shown while in the patrol car.

This am, the nose is quite swollen and the abrasion is fresh and bloodied. The other spots seem to be fresh hematomas (bruises), these would change color rapidly had they been acquired a couple of days prior.

I'm guessing PSP had something to do with his face. ;) Normally, "resisting arrest" would have been added, but I think US Marshals technically made the arrest on a PA state warrant, hence no resisting charge. Let's face it, he could have justifiably been shot dead on site...he's lucky.

There is NO rationalization for injuring him while in custody. period. He has constitutional rights and that would be illegal, as well as short sighted, in such a high profile case which will probably go to trial.
Nor could they use lethal force as he surrendered peaceably. That would have been murder.
Every citizen has the right to due process.
As I said above, I can understand him sustaining minor injuries in the takedown but very much hope that any LE does not or has not dishonored themselves and the high regard in which we hold them. They have already tarnished their credibility by saying these were preexisting injuries when they did not need to speak of it at all.
Every account disputes any indication of resisting arrest.
Assault is assault and it is illegal. There have been times when I would have felt more than justified, besides being allergic to going to jail, two wrongs do not make a right.

Put me in the league with the arresting officers got a little accidentally rough with Frein. I can see two officers pushing him to the ground from his kneeling position. Frein has not been in the woods all this time to show up with a freshly bloodied nose and other marks on his face.

The fact it was brought up makes the arresting officers look more suspicious in my book.

Just my opinion!

Anyone else find it odd that he did not have legal representation?

Look, if I did a freefall forward from that position with no one else nearby, I am pretty sure I would have a bloody nose at least. Esp in a field.
I am not going to try it to back up my hypothesis. ;)

So far, as far as I can see his injuries came from the takedown and I have no problem with that.

But I cannot condone any kind of roughing him up while others "look the other way." (Plus they would not have gone for his face, think about it.)
I expect all our officers to conduct themselves professionally.

If nothing else it is a matter of respect for the fallen and injured PSP.

It's a shame really. PSP garnered so much public support over the last month & a half over this heinous crime, that this could have been a shining moment to an ever growing skeptic public eye. Truly a squandered opportunity. I think he grossly underestimated the intelligence of the viewing audience.

  • #598
I'm guessing his scrapes are simply from being pushed to the ground. Let's be honest, if someone wanted to hurt him it would be a h@ll of a lot worse.

PK,

Please forgive me for being obtuse but I truly do not understand your post either in part or in whole. How have the PSP missed their glory? What was squandered? Meaning of skeptic public eye? And who underestimated the intelligence of whom?

TIA
