Law firm targets Pennsylvania State Police for handling of Eric Frein manhunt

UPDATE: Lawyer: Monroe County residents unlawfully displaced during Eric Frein manhunt

A law firm is soliciting residents in Pike and Monroe counties who have been affected by police activity related to the manhunt for Eric Frein, the suspect in the Sept. 12 Pennsylvania State Police ambush that left one trooper dead and wounded another.

Joshua Prince, of the Bechtelsville, Pa.-based Prince Law Offices, posted a message on the firm's website Monday night encouraging residents to contact the firm if they believe their rights have been violated by police during the search for Frein, who is sought in the shooting outside the state police Blooming Grove barracks in Pike County.

"If you are a resident of Pike or Monroe County and had your rights violated by the (Pennsylvania State Police), either by unlawfully evicting you from your home or searching your vehicle without a warrant, please contact us to discuss your legal options," the message says.

Our Concern For All Those Involved.

Sorry if I've missed this, but is the supposition that he has been traveling entirely on foot after ditching the jeep?

 • #368
To elaborate on that question, I've been looking at maps and doing some mapping of my own, and the area with the perimeter earlier in the week is about 18 miles from where the jeep was apparently ditched (jeep location per a map previously posted in this thread).

State police kept a heavily armed perimeter in place today along Route 447 in Monroe County as troopers continued to try to flush Eric Frein from the dense Pocono woods.

At a 3 p.m. press conference, Lt. Col. George Bivens said police have spotted Frein from a "significant" distance on more than one occasion and have found items he had apparently discarded, including Serbian cigarettes — Frein has role-played as a Serbian soldier — and soiled diapers.

Chirico was convinced state police had cornered Frein Tuesday night within the dense, rocky, ravine-pocked woods. After days of bogus rumors and false alarms, a police helicopter hovered low over Bear Town Road and officers converged.

A state police officer told her afterward that thermal imaging had spotted the heat signature of what looked like someone hunkered down in the brush.

"Then the helicopter lifted and we were like, what happened?" she recalled Wednesday. "One of the troopers said it was a couple of deer."

State Police:Troopers looking for vacant or seasonal homes/sheds that may have been disturbed, have executed search warrants to get inside.

State police have found evidence from Frein, including hidden cigarettes. Also they've found soiled diapers.

State police say they have had sightings by law enforcement officers at significant distances. The public has also reported sightings.

State police say several reported sightings say that Frein is wearing black clothing.

State police say diapers can be used in survivalist techniques to stay in one position for very long periods of time. #Frein

State police: Officers did not have positive identification to be sure enough to fire during the sightings of who they believed was Frein.

Based on items police have found, they have adjusted perimeter a bit, but are still searching in same general area.

Even though police are focusing the search in Monroe/Pike Co line area, there is still searching underway elsewhere, including other states.

State police: "There have been no shots fired by law enforcement."

Evidence police have obtained show Frein has been planning this ambush for a long time.

"In some ways I think this is a game to him", he put himself in spots to be sighted but far enough he knew he couldn't be shot or captured.

State police estimate nearly 1,000 officers have been involved in the search for #Frein.

Police have kicked out a number of bear as they search. There are many outcrops and rocky areas, almost impossible to look everywhere.

Thank you for the laugh!

Maybe Frein will hunker down in a cave and find out it's not as empty as he thought ? :giggle:

Snips from the DM

"...Alex Douglass, who was critically injured after being hit in the pelvis, lives less than half a mile from the family of Frein's brother and was friends with the fugitive's sister-in-law Melissa.

Police say they have ruled out the possibility of an affair after 'extensive interviews' with Mrs. Frein, the wife of Michael Frein, which are understood to have included a polygraph test.

'We have investigated the rumor of the affair thoroughly after we learned about it', Pennsylvania Sate police spokesman Trooper Tom Kelly told MailOnline
. 'There is no truth to the affair...." Emphasis mine

"...Kelly confirmed that Douglass and Melissa Frein are friends and there is no way to know whether Eric Frein believed that his sister-in-law was involved with the 31-year-old trooper until and unless they manage to arrest him.

Frein was the best man for his brother Michael when he married Melissa in 2007.
..."

So, this crime was not personal ?

Still seems odd that Frein would choose these particular officers to unload on ; esp. in the light of Frein's dad who claimed his son Eric "...does not miss..."
