Snips from the DM

"...Alex Douglass, who was critically injured after being hit in the pelvis, lives less than half a mile from the family of Frein's brother and was friends with the fugitive's sister-in-law Melissa.

Police say they have ruled out the possibility of an affair after 'extensive interviews' with Mrs. Frein, the wife of Michael Frein, which are understood to have included a polygraph test.

'We have investigated the rumor of the affair thoroughly after we learned about it', Pennsylvania Sate police spokesman Trooper Tom Kelly told MailOnline
. 'There is no truth to the affair...." Emphasis mine

"...Kelly confirmed that Douglass and Melissa Frein are friends and there is no way to know whether Eric Frein believed that his sister-in-law was involved with the 31-year-old trooper until and unless they manage to arrest him.

Frein was the best man for his brother Michael when he married Melissa in 2007.
..."

So, this crime was not personal ?

Still seems odd that Frein would choose these particular officers to unload on ; esp. in the light of Frein's dad who claimed his son Eric "...does not miss..."
:moo:

Is there any connection known to the officer who was killed?

From the DM article I've linked and some other sources that are opinion only... There are some who surmise that Dickson may not have been the intended victim; but the other one, Douglass, may have been the target.

Ah, should have read the linked article first (sorry). I read a similar piece somewhere else (more MSM though) but it didn't mention anything about Dickson maybe not being a target. I guess that would kind of make sense, except for what you pointed out about how EF is supposed to be such an accurate shot. If that's the case, it seems unlikely he'd be specifically targeting Douglass and mess up that badly. I need to go back and read early news coverage, I think - I was late to this and missed the very early reporting on the actual initiating incident (I'm also curious about the EMS crew and/or helicopter potentially being fired on but not the civilian dispatcher, as a civilian and then some I don't really see the distinction).

From http://philly.com (red outline mine):

I think I'll pass on that video... :yuck:

(I know it's probably just a news clip talking about this stuff with no actual visuals, I just got a little laugh out of the unfortunate wording.)

I was thinking about D.B. Cooper (?). The guy who hijacked a plane and dropped out with cash using a parachute ?
And then disappeared for good ?
Hope this doesn't end up like that.

It is perhaps of note that they haven't made any statements about that AK47 they found being the same one missing from the Frein household. Don't the serial numbers match?
