From what I read, the sighting at the post office was 3 days after the auto was stolen, he can't be in 2 places at the same time. IIRC, the LE are giving greater weight to the PA sighting.
The guys I know that could hide like that have special military training from their years of service, one is simply a woodsman. Just to clarify that I do not hang with dangerous people.

In that terrain, I would bet there are springs where water is naturally rock filtered or he may have tablets to use to make water potable.
