It doesn't happen often in the Summer because the boats are ALL OVER the rivers, 24/7. Fishing, kayaking, water skiing, regatta, recreation, boating to the lock/dam. It happens when no one is around. This is at least one serial killer or a copycat over the years. It's time for someone to investigate.

In my opinion, LE has been able to keep everyone in Pittsburgh calm with the theory of drunk=fall in the river. I HOPE AND PRAY that because of Dakota's parents stating they do not believe that theory, an investigation will ensue!

Except this year, it's been and very mild winter. It was in the 50s on January 25th and the river hasn't been frozen over at all.

I don't know what anyone's rationale for not connecting the dots is, but that time of year, in that area it is absolutely freezing out. The river is partially frozen over. Even someone totally drunk would have a hard time making it down to the river to accidentally drown I would guess (but honestly I have never tried, and for some reason I have only been in that area near Duquesne (and the surrounding towns) in the winter...

While I personally would have my phone out scrolling through twitter or something, I'd put it in my jacket or pants if I had to relieve myself, which is the assumption LE is making. The real question is, was his zipper down? I'm not sure what the probability of a phone falling out of a pocket in water would be.

I still think he could've stumbled and fallen over the railing while going down the steps. The steps aren't in great condition at all.

Does anyone else find it strange that his phone was found on his body? Had he stowed the phone in a zipper pocket of his jacket or something? How did it remain 40 days in the river on his person? Seems to me he would be texting and looking at his phone the whole way home. That's probably what I would have done. Why had he put his phone away? Why wasn't he carrying it in his hand anymore?

What difference does water temperature make unless you are referring to the body resurfacing? It does take longer for a body to resurface in cold water than in warm water. But falling in is falling in. Unless th
The question is whether or not DJ fell in the water by his own accord.

Think about it, which do you personally think is harder to regain composure after? Falling into warm water? Falling into icy cold water?

crew on a RiverQuest boat that was pulling up to the shore noticed the body and called 911.

“The last place Mr. Slack was seen was in the city of Pittsburgh,” Chief King explained. “The last place the cell phone that he has was used was in the city of Pittsburgh prior to it being shut off.”

Would cell phone instantly cut off when hits water?

Would cell phone providers have a record of turning off and on?

But my point is he could have been on any number of sites or apps. Why are we not blasting any of them for not releasing info? If the coworker or someone said "I saw he was on the Grindr app that night" or "he had plans to meet with someone from Grindr after we parted ways" that would be cause to ask for a warrant for his activity on the app that night.

I don't see why an app would violate a users privacy if there isn't a valid reason for the request. Just moo.

That is how i feel. Owner (s) of any of the apps , just because they are human beings, should be willing to offer everything up.

If i owned an app I would kinda want to know if someone is on my site hurting or killing people - it makes no sense at all IMO

I am not saying that something bad isn't happening to all the young men who go missing and then end up in the river but, drinking and bodies of water do not mix. There could be a number of men found in the river simply because there are rivers in and around Pittsburgh. The end up in the river because the rivers are there.

As far as him having no reason to be near the river - as other have stated I have woken up after a night of drinking and mentally reviewed some of the things I did the night before and some of those things are things I would never do sober! He may have had to go tot he bathroom or may have thought wow look at the river I am gonna check it out. Who knows what an intoxicated person may be thinking. I had a friend who was so drunk one day she thought it was Halloween and started decorating her house. It was August. Sometimes alcohol effects us in a way that is not that same it has always done before. Just because he never did something before while drunk doesn't mean he didn't this time.

Also I really feel that if you are being refused drinks at a bar you have to appear to be pretty intoxicated. I have been out drinking and have been totally intoxicated and have NEVER been refused service. Now, I do not know Images policy and maybe they have had trouble in the past and are extra careful about serving people.

There are a lot of scary grindr stories to be found. Reddit had some crazy ones. Most are never reported to LE and should be!
I don't like that these guys have an insane encounter with a nutjob but are too ashamed to talk about it out of fear of being judged. But that's unfortunately, our society I suppose.
I personally, don't get why talking about sex is still so taboo among grown adults?
We live in a society where there is 'an app for that' and everything else, yet I could sense the LE discomfort when talking about Dakota's "social media app". I think they were fearful to delve into it... There is stuff you just cannot unsee

I definitely agree with you on the judgement part. I don't think anyone wants to blast their sexual rendezvous.

But as far as cops not wanting to look on the app, they deal with a lot worse on their day to day as police officers, especially in a city like Pittsburgh.

I agree with this. I think most people, while maybe they don't heavily drink often, all have that one story about that one "crazy night" and how they really weren't themselves at all.

I'd be very interested in seeing your timeline. I've been trying to put one together as well but it's really difficult to find information on some of these missing persons. Pretty sure I have 10 right now if I expand the area just slightly outside of the city of Pittsburgh. There are two disappearances in Westmoreland County that seem very similar and possibly another in Meadville.

All white, 20-something, similar build and just vanished. Either never seen again or turned up in the river months later.

i, too, would love to see a timeline. So many people are talking about all these missing persons, but not one has given us any facts to back up the numbers.
