I'm just thankful that this perp who looked like he'd rather die than go back... is going back; and to a more secure facility this time !
No more innocent people can he harm.
Hoping for the severest and longest penalty possible !

Probably the last thing those kids heard from their mom was her screaming or her cries for help, and they couldn't do anything.
I know most of my fellow posters object to the LE group photo, and I do see that it can look like a Super Bowl victory.

But, just my unpopular opinion, this is such a supremely victorious outcome that I hope his ex-girlfriend’s children eventually frame it and put it in their wall.

Only me, I know, but I’m content with the picture.

Maybe also frame it with something durable and put it in his next SECURE prison cell.

Law enforcement first detected Cavalcante's heat signal around 1 a.m. using an aircraft, Bivens said. Former Boston police commissioner Ed Davis, a law enforcement expert who was not involved in the search, described the technology used to CBS News as a "fixed-wing craft" from the Drug Enforcement Agency.

The craft used "thermal imaging that's probably the highest-quality, military-grade," Davis said, to "get a signal on this guy."

Now let’s just hope that prison gets it together because it was bad enough knowing DC was the second inmate to escape from there in just a few months time.

I agree with others here that all of the footage of the manhunt, along with the comments from locals, has played like an enticing travel brochure for this gorgeous area. I never had any idea about Pennsylvania’s ravishing beauty, but it’s now on my bucket list of places to visit.
Hopefully the prison system will get a good working over before I get there.

I’m glad this is over now, and the next time I hear news about Cavalcante will be too soon.

Imo
I was in the Erie, PA area a few years ago in October, and the fall foliage was stunning.

I have absolutely no problem with that picture.
Also some may criticize LE’s search saying it took too long etc, but in my view they did everything right. LE search teams did not let him escape, the jail did. LE did not write the rules for the search, DC did. DC chose to run and hide like an animal and he was good at it. LE had no choice but to hunt him like an animal, but always mindful of public safety. Well done.

CNN reporter said that DC went into a horse trailer and took 5 large granola bars at some point during his escape.

I am puzzled by where the blood on his face shown in this image came from, unless the K9 who initially got him bit him on the head, or law enforcement were none too gentle taking him into custody. Or maybe this is, as someone else suggested, photoshopped?
After his capture and dog bite they gave him immediate medical attention. I'm sure that included cleaning up his wound and sterilizing the dog bite.

By the time they took the group photo he had been cleaned up.

IMO that group photo should be framed and put on the wall of every Search Organization! They found a needle in a haystack.

I think a group photo of the team without the perp in it wouldn't have caused a stir. To me, it brings up images of hunters with big-game prey. Not a good look when it's a person who was caught. But, tbh, in the whole big picture, I am not particularly upset and just hope "best practices" leads other LE teams away from similar photo shoots. jmo
I don't care for the optics either, but I get that the group was elated and this will probably be the most memorable day in their careers. I think it's a sign of the times... all the selfies, posting pics on FB and Instagram has become a way of life for many. Guess I'm just old school... so for example, I decided not to take a picture of my 50th blood donation because I was only doing what I should be doing,,, and when you think of it, I should have given 75 donations by now.

Hopefully, the man will get his grass cutting work boots back! LOL

I think it was the governor during the news conference that said that he'd get an Eagles hoodie for the person whose hoodie was stolen.
