A missing person investigation is underway in Mifflin County for a woman who was last heard from Wednesday afternoon, Mifflin County Regional police said Tuesday.

Donna Keller, 40, was reported missing Friday after family members found her red vehicle along state Route 655 with a yellow bag in the window, though it was operational, Keller’s sister, Betsy Miller, said.

“The first couple days, I said, ‘It’s weird for her to not say anything, but if she just wants a couple days away from everyone, give her a couple days,’ ” Miller said. “But when we found her car ... that’s something that definitely struck us as odd.”

Keller is 5 feet, 6 inches tall, of average build, with blonde hair and blue eyes and typically wears glasses. She was wearing a black sweater, blue jeans and knee-high black boots Wednesday.

There is no evidence of a “violent act,” Det. Jessica Aurand said Tuesday. Those with information about Keller’s whereabouts should call 717-248-9607 and not intervene, she said.

Click on her photos, one of the MP poster pics has a comment I'm not sure what to make of it. It's a tiny bit concerning. My mind is going to domestic issues maybe. JMOO

Also - since the car was not disabled, was the yellow bag meant as a sign that she needed help ? Also MOO
Agreed, that statement is a bit concerning, but very random and no one else followed up on the comment, so very much nothing more than rumor at this point. But it doesn't make me less curious... I searched her FB did not find anything about that mentioned.

What does a bag hanging from an abandoned vehicle generally mean? I always thought it was just to make it more visible.

I always believed a bag in a car window tells law enforcement that you haven't abandoned your car and that you went to get help for some sort of emergency....

So a little googling has the most common answer to this question is essentially to "...alert anyone who sees the car (cops, mostly) that the car hasn't actually been abandoned there; that for some reason your car can't run so you had to leave it behind for a while but intend to come back for it."

Other similar answers popped up as well, but this is the most common version I found.

So that makes me think that since the car was operable, the bag was left in the window (by whomever parked it there) to discourage anyone from stopping to check it out. The sooner the car is found, the sooner someone is looking for its owner. MOO

Edited for typo and to add MOO

Nothing more on this lady? I messaged the Lewistown Sentinel and asked if they had any updates. I don't even see her on their FB page! :(

Sorry to quote myself, but I just stumbled upon a May 2019 article that makes the comment seem not so random.

Woman charged with 37 counts | News, Sports, Jobs - The Sentinel

Court documents state Donna Jo Keller, 40, of Lewistown, conducted a business transaction with Tim Meyers in March 2018, which resulted in Meyers selling the Buy More Store name and inventory as well as the Helping Hand Up Enterprises program to Keller for $65,000. After the sales agreement was signed, Meyers was reportedly contacted by First National Bank and advised that two mobile deposits were made to a foreign bank that were then made out to the Pennsylvania Department of Treasury for payroll taxes. First National Bank also said the bank into which the the mobile deposits were made belonged to Keller.

Hi, so Donna is a friend of mine. I am not local to the area, so there isn't much I can do. I googled other missing women in her county and came across this page. I made an account because this seems like the kind of place I can come to beg for help in getting my friend found. There is some shady **** going on in the background, most notably, her local "friends" and sister seem not at all concerned that she's gone. They keep saying, "We can't do search parties because the cops don't want us to interfere." It's been two weeks. WTF. Also, we keep leaving messages with the cops, but they are "out of the office" until after new years. What? How are they investigating AND out of the office???

Everyone is assuming she just took off. She has two kids that she adores. I'm 100% certain she didn't just take off.

Regarding the charges she faced: She tried to buy a business from an awful guy who is lawsuit happy. He's a creep and has thrown lawsuits at anyone who dare counters him. He had her set up to look like she was stealing. She had an attorney. She was absolutely confident that she was going to prevail in this case. Nevertheless, she regularly posted about how he was ******* her over. Others would chime in that he had come after them similarly. She also told a few people prior to her disappearance that he was stalking her and making comments about how she better watch where she sleeps at night. Here is an article about him (I don't want to say his name because I don't want him searching this and finding it): Police: Reedsville man assaulted employee | News, Sports, Jobs - The Sentinel

I'm 100% sure there is some sort of corruption with cops in her small town. They have said they have no reason to believe foul play, so they are not investigating. They won't even go TALK to her stalker because they don't have a reason to!

This is all really deeply upsetting and her friends just want answers. Please, if you know where I should go from here, I'm all ears.

First, I'm so sorry. This must be an upsetting time for you, I know I'd be beside myself if one of my friends went missing.

Is there someone in her family who IS concerned and close enough to push with the local police, and if needed go up the chain? I think I saw her father making posts, are you in contact with him? Whomever that is, encourage them to put everything they know about the potential stalker in writing. Detail everything, as many facts that indicate he may have had something to do with it, any articles like you posted above where his behavior has been suspect in the past. Look up any criminal history is possible. (Many states now have pending criminal, civil and motor vehicle cases and convictions free and online for the public to view.) Get it all down on paper in as objective and non-emotional way as possible. Don't make accusations against the local police, just point out the reasons why it makes sense for them to look at this man, take Donna's missing status more seriously, and ask any/all questions you want answers to. Make a copy. The next of kin, dad or whomever, with a witness (friend or other person who can remain non emotional/not get hysterical) should make an appointment to meet with the person heading the investigation. Give them the letter (and email it as well, after the meeting, with a recap). If they refuse, attempt the Chief of the department. Email these requests whenever possible, so you have a record. If you meet with them, take notes during the meeting. Record it if they'll allow it. Set timelines, don't leave things open ended. If you're stonewalled, reach out to the state police. Send them the same letter, certified mail, return receipt requested. You can also reach out to local representatives like the Mayor, the police commission, whomever is in that district in the house of reps in the state. Always include the clear, detailed, non-emotional info.

It's entirely possible the police HAVE investigated truly, and have found no evidence that he is or was a risk to her. If they're able to answer that satisfactorily, it is what it is. They can't just haul people in because family thinks a person did it, you know? But they darn sure should be able to clearly explain to the family what they've done and how they've done it in terms or ruling him out as a suspect (if they've done that) and if they can't, I'd want answers.

I hope that helps give you some ideas to move forward with?

Ya learn something new every day. I did not know a bag in a window meant anything special.

I hope she is found soon. Wonder who put the bag in the window of her car. It may have been put there to buy time. Clever ruse if it is. IMO

Thank you for this lengthy and helpful response. I would be happy to become a verified insider. I don't want to say my name publicly because of my profession (I work with teens and don't want them finding this), so if I can verify with someone, that'd be great. I'm definitely new here, as I mentioned. I also suspect some of her friends and family are hiding info or know more and are keeping it from the rest of us (including her parents), so I don't want to say who I am.

As for the rest of your post, thank you. This definitely gives me some starting points to begin this process. Thank you for taking the time to respond.
