According to the The Pittsburgh Post, Fri,
Apr 22, 1910 Page 9 and other news articles (Sources: Newspapers.com, Ancestry.com),
Harry Vier Arrowsmith, age 24, of Warren, Corydon Township, McKean County, Pennsylvania, was named as a possible suspect in the disappearance of 9 year old
Edward Paul Adams. (The article mistyped his first name as Henry)
Harry Vier Arrowsmith was born
24 Apr 1885 in Salamanca, Cattaraugus County, New York, to William E. and Margaret J. Arrowsmith. The news article stated that Harry disappeared from his home the same day as Edward and was known to be
slightly demented and often wandered away from home.
According to the Corydon Township, Warren County, PA,
April 22, 1910 United States Federal Census for Harry, he was living with his parents and was unemployed at the time of the census.
Demented is an
adjective describing behavior that is crazy, unhinged, or insane. For Arrowsmith, it appears he was able to stay employed in spite of his mental state. I wonder if he's still considered a suspect or whether he was cleared.
The Forest Republican Wed,
Apr 27, 1910 Page 3, "
Harry Arrowsmith, a demented young man of Corydon, who disappeared about the same time, has returned home and
could give no account of his wanderings." (So, he was missing about 11 days)
According to Harry Arrowsmith's
