GUILTY PA - Ellen Robb, 49, beaten to death, Montgomery County, 22 Dec 2006

  • #301
Welcome, AWL! And thank you for giving us insight into Ellen's spirit. It really makes it all the sadder, doesn't it.

And Pepper, these selfish jerks think, as ALL criminals do, they are going to get away with it.

I don't remember any other case where so many people personally acquainted with principals were on the board with us. Amazing!

AWL quote:
People who have been in his life for years connected through children. Someone lawyered him up. There are a few people who don't want to believe he's guilty of this horrific crime.

Yes, I am aware of the friends that found him an attorney and I'm wondering if they regret that now. I think the facts pretty much speak for themselves. Also, aside from that family, I can't think any of other's......do you think there's more! As if that makes a difference........

Yes, I still have to shake my head to remember this is real. Hard to get rid of the pit in my stomach as well. I'd like to say I hope he 'rots in you-know-where', but don't think that that would be appreciated by the big man upstairs!

What goes around comes around, I'm told.

I haven't slept but a few hours each night since I found out about Ellen's death.
This has greatly impacted so many people, not just her friends, acquaintances and neighbors, etc. etc. but according to the national news...so many.

But for the grace of God people anywhere can feel this could happen in their own back yards, how little we know about the people that walk in our daily lives and gosh -- it's enough to get anyone completely freaked out. The feeling of helplessness, a physical sickness over it and depression is getting me.

Possible reasons for the delay in making an arrest:

1. Castor does not want to "Nifong", especially since he is probably running for County Commissioner. He may go so far as to empanel a grand jury in order to have the GJ issue the indictment instead of doing it himself. It gives him political cover.

2. Computer forensics are incomplete due to geeks being away for the holidays.

3. Waiting for a key Penn student to return to school.

4. Waiting for Raffi to slip up.

5. Incomplete financial forensics.

6. DNA

Raffi is not a threat to the general public. If he tried to flee, that would clinch the arrest. No need to rush.

What is Nifong?
DNA- would make sense

I think Olivia holds many answers. A sensitive issue.

Nifong refers to the Durham County, NC DA whose name is apparently becoming a nasty term. Last year he was the acting DA behind the arrest of 2 Duke Lacrosse players for the reported crime of sexual assault against one of the strippers hired to dance at a gathering in a house in Durham.

At the time Mr. Nifong was running for election, having been appointed, and many suspect that his pursuit of the 3 white players on the word of the black stripper was motivated by a wish to be elected, which he was, btw.

Since then the rape charges have been dropped while other serious charges remain. And his name became a bad word. And there will be an investigation of his ethics and conduct.

Nifong refers to the prosecutor in the Duke lacross players rape case -- that's his last name. The Duke students were arrested very quickly and with no real evidence. Since then the most serious charges have been dropped and Nifong is in danger of losing his job. Believe it or not, Raffi's sleaze-bag attorney actually brought this up on one of the TV shows he was interviewed on last week. He compared Castor to Nifong! Of course, there is no comparison in this case. . .

Thanks for explaining the Nifong piece.

I don't think Castor is in this category -- I think he's very good and being careful. This is a case that has everyone emotional for good reason. Folks are wanting to make sure they dot their "i"s and cross their "t"s. When someone is brought down it better be for real.

There is an old Chinese proverb: "If you sit by the river long enough, all the bodies of your enemies will float by."

I think that attorney has been looking like an idiot. I saw him on Friday night's Fox News with GVS and I was shocked at his repsonses. I'd fire the guy if he was representing me! He looked dumbfounded, stammered, and just can't make up answers to help his client look innocent. When confronted with GVS's questions the guy smirked, had few answers to pointed questions, tried smoke and mirrors, and basically failed to provide and convince. GVS got rid of the segment fast going on to the next-- it was a waste of her time at that time. I bet she comes back to it and hard-hitting. She's relentless. She's on FNC at 10pm weekdays and reruns.

I wonder if the attorney will bail...

Yes, they keep that 911 thing wrong. In any event, will keep you posted. Press release at 1 p.m. by Castor.

Since Genovese states that Raffi still claims his innocence, how does that affect the charges if at all? Do you think they are ready to press charges yet?
