Forensic anthropologist to help ID skeletal remains found by turkey hunters

EXCELSIOR -- A noted forensic anthropologist plans to develop a biological profile of the skeletal remains turkey hunters discovered in Northumberland County on May 18.

Dennis Dirkmatt, who chairs the forensics sciences department at Mercyhurst University, said Wednesday he has just begun to examine the remains, found in a wooded area at the bottom of an embankment off Route 901 near Excelsior.

Joshua Lindenmuth jumped from his mom's car during an argument. It happened on Route 61 about 10-15 driving minutes away (approx. a 2-hour walk from 61 to PA 901.). He was headed east when she last saw him, so if these are his remains he must have doubled back headed west.

ETA - I noticed Josh's mom posted birthday wishes to him in Feb. After checking Josh's FB it appears he's made a few posts this year. Perhaps he has been located.

MOUNT CARMEL-Someone apparently didn’t want these human remains to be easily identified.

The remains that turkey hunters discovered May 18 in Northumberland County had the tips of his fingers burned after he was dead.
