GUILTY PA - Jessica Padgett, 32, Northampton County, 21 November 2014

A bullet to the back of the head is extremely purposeful. If we are all assuming that sexual abuse has been ongoing for some time I question why this time he chose to kill her in such a premeditated and cold way.

Could we be wrong? Could Jessica have stumbled upon something at the house unwittingly and he had to kill her?

Just thinking out loud because the assumed motive is extraordinarily heinous and disgusting to me. I can't imagine.

WHY!???! So senseless! Just why? And I hate that this flat white box doesn't allow for my emotion behind the words to show. We didn't even know her, we won't have to spend years trying, every day, to make sense of it. Her beautiful family of 5 destroyed. For what!!!??! My heart is broken, and I'm mad, both. I'm so sorry Miss Jessica. Bless you, your husband and your children. <3

So unfair.

What makes someone do something like this? He must have known that he wouldn't get away with it. He also must have known that he whatever he was planning (and it does appear planned), that he would have to kill her or she would tell her husband, mother, sister somebody. I can't believe she would keep a sexual assault quiet especially when she doesn't live with him and is married etc. etc.

So for the thrill of sexually assaulting your stepdaughter you kill her and destroy her life, but not only that, you destroy your entire family's lives as well as Jessica's.

I'm so blown away by the fact that it was her stepfather and LE believes there is a sexual component to it.

As of right now, police have only indicated the motive was sexual in nature. But based on the very, very quick timeline he planned this beforehand by planting his truck near the spot he was to leave her car.

There doesn't seem like enough time for a lot of activity. Actually there was very little time! So I'm thinking maybe he tied her up at the home, then dropped her car off, came home and then assaulted her and killed her. This allows much more time.
(I was thinking he hid her body behind the shed in plan sight but the article says he buried her.) As a matter of fact, he could have had her tied up for quite some time. Just speculating...

Poor Jessica. And her new husband and those cute kids. Just heartbreaking.

Apparently she was in Florida. From his FB page they look like snowbirds and were building a house in Edgewater.

Wow my husband was just down in Edgewater today. I never expected a local town to even be mentioned in a case from PA. I looked up the FL house info on the Volusia County Property Appraiser site and found the building permit info:

Edgewater
Graf, Gregory, 2900 Tangelo Road, single-family residence, $322,309.

Notice it's in HIS name only here, and it's the same on the Property Appraiser site.

My question is..If the mother came home when Jessica went missing how did she not notice a smell coming from the shed area if Jessica was behind the shed?? (

Her stepfather, Gregory R. Graf, faces homicide charges, accused of shooting her Friday afternoon and burying her body

This article says he buried her, so maybe that's why the smell was not so noticeable (plus the cold weather)?

That's what I don't get! His friends posted about the "their friends daughter" being missing...didn't he feel shame? I guess not or he wouldn't have done it. But what about before? Are people like this unable to predict consequences? Can't they see that they will be caught and their friends and family will hate them and they will go to prison? Or do they just think they will not get caught? I guess they are usually narcissist/sociopath types who can't think beyond themselves

The fact that he parked his own truck in town earlier in the day (according to msm reports), near the store where her car was later found, pretty much blows my mind. He totally, utterly, and in EVERY way, planned this. He knew exactly what he was going to do and took full advantage of the fact his wife, her mother, was out of town at the time. Unstinkingbelievable, and yet it happened :(

Since he has confessed, I hope he also confesses to everything. What he did, what she did, etc. I honestly have to wonder if her *very* recent marriage had something to do with this. If he had been SA'ing her all along and she finally stood up to him and said NO MORE you filthy 🤬🤬🤬 and fought him off and/or tried to get away. I pray she did. I suspect she did.

Not to mention, you either have to be in the direct vicinity or downwind of a decomposing body, to smell it. I've been in both (thankfully neither were human - both were coyote but let me tell you, HOLY cow, it's a smell you never forget) and that's the only reason I know this. There is no way in the world her mom though she was RIGHT there on their property and even if she did smell something, and had never smelled decomp before, it's completely reasonable to assume she would have never connected it.

<snip>

According to court records, Graf has a criminal record, albeit a minor one. He has convictions in the 1980s for theft. In 1995, he served a three-to-23-month sentence in Lehigh County Jail for possession with intent to deliver drugs and conspiracy

Sorry if this has already been posted, but in the article I linked above it also showed this background info about him.

Pennsylvania State Police read the following statement on behalf of Padgett's family at a news conference this afternoon:

"We are devastated by the loss of Jessica. She was a beautiful, vibrant young woman who was beloved by her family and friends. The world shines less bright today. We would like to thank the Pennsylvania State Police for their tireless efforts in bringing her home to us. We would like to thank the public and media for spreading her picture far and wide. We are deeply moved and very thankful for the endless volunteers who gave their time and effort in searching for her. We ask that you please respect our privacy while we grieve."

I'm really surprised about how much detail the DA and LE is willing to share. I think, likely, because he has admitted to killing her, but I have yet to see a case until now where they are willing to answer every question asked. I am hoping this is because the case is a slam dunk, and we will see justice prevail in such a tragic, mind-blowingly senseless evil act.
Does anyone have any speculation on the sexual aspect of this case? It seems like an awfully short period of time for him to commit a sexual assault, kill her and drive her car to Dollar General. My opinion is that she stood up to him recently or recently threatened to tell authorities about his past actions, and he planned to kill her before she could do so. I still think there is more to this story that will come out perhaps later.

^In my earlier post, I speculate that he possibly tied her up when she arrived at the house. Dropped her car then came back and had much, much more time. Otherwise he just didn't have enough time to assault and kill her based on her leaving the daycare at 12:50 and him on video shortly after 1:00.

I am sick about this case...and in my gut...I believe this predator will take the secrets to his own dark grave. Jessica knew him well...and he panicked. Now..with the help of a well paid defense attorney...he will find a way to blame our Jessica. And her grieving babies will never be the same. I am so angry tonight. We will never know the truth. "Vengeance is mine says the Lord." Amen

If he is a sociopath... And I suspect he is... He has probably put the blame on the victim (Jessica) in some way....

O/T but it's so infuriating that a 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 like this can live the highlife with two houses and I, even with a college degree, work two jobs to pay the bills for me and my teen

It said sexually motivated, but has it said she was sexually assaulted? I haven't had time to read everything. My apologies. I am just wondering if he made an advance on her and when she declined he freaked out and killed her, never actually assaulting her. While this in itself is beyond horrible, I pray this is the outcome and the act of sexual assault was not completed. I can't imagine what her poor family is going through. Each of them is dealing with a different grief, I would imagine. My heart breaks for her mother, especially. I will pray for them and hug my family tight on Thanksgiving

In one of the news articles I read I saw it stated that they were trying to make a time frame as to when the "sexual motive" took place. It was mentioned already on WS that perhaps he'd restrained her while he dumped her car, then came back to the house. There just wasn't enough time to do all this, then dump her car. I've even wondered if the assault happened post mortem. ;(

Yeah, right? "She seduced me....." just like every sick pedophile blames the 4 year olds they assault of seducing them. Makes me absolutely sick!

My opinion on what happened: Jessica maybe got tired of hiding the sexual abuse she encountered for years and made it known she was going to go to the police about it which sent her stepfather into both panic and rage. The morning of the attack Jessica's stepfather left his car and went home to wait, Jessica could've phoned her husband asking him to check and see if Greg was at the house he had shared with her mother since the fax at work was broke and she had something to fax, Her husband could've drove by the house not seeing Greg's car and told her he wasn't there. Jessica assuming Greg was out decided to take her lunch break to go (not willing to wait incase of Greg returning) so she went to the home and saw Gregs truck was not there so she went in, Upon entering the home Greg sneaks up on Jessica, Trying to sexually assault Jessica but when she is quick to fight him off he gets frustrated and shoots her in the back of the head killing her which he intended on doing anyway after he sexually assaulted her. Greg would then to stage the crime scene better drive Jessica's car with her things still inside to the General Dollar store and return to his vehicle and drive it home. Once home maybe he sexually assaulted Jessica's lifeless corpse before burying her behind the shed thinking he had committed the perfect crime since he staged her Vehicle at the General Dollar no one would find Jessica. Once so much positive feedback began when the story broke, Greg nervously gave a inconsistent stories of what happened that day and the police now were on to him. Greg realizing the police now had his number decided to confess and show the police where Jessica was buried.
