In the 34 years since five-year-old Lauren Jackson disappeared from her Spring City home, investigators and her father, Michael Jackson, have never given up searching for her, writes Jessica Babb for CBS 21.

Lauren went missing on Oct. 4, 1988, while playing outside in the dirt with a friend at Park Spring apartments. When her mother could not find her later, the police were called.

“Everyone was frantic, the neighbors were outside, no one could locate her, so it was right in your face, she’s not here,” said James Cote, a sergeant with the East Vincent Police Department at the time.

Bloodhounds were used along Route 724, search crews scoured every inch, and police even contacted a psychic — but there was no trace of Lauren. Additionally, there were discrepancies with timing in witness stories, so the little leads they had didn’t pan out.

“She was just a nice kid; she was the nicest kid you’ll ever meet. I said it to my mother one time. What did I do to deserve her? She was just a sweet kid,” said Jackson. “I can’t believe these years went by, and there is no answer. I am not going to give up.”

I just read a thread about a UID woman found in Pennsylvania. She had a club foot. Reminded me of Lauren. The IID was found in the 90s and the estimated age is older than Lauren would have been, so extremely unlikely that it could be her.

Where are you Lauren???

Which thread is it?
I think I came across it. Poor Lauren I just don’t know what to think anymore?! I pray she is still alive and watches these threads and knows she has people that love her and so much want her to be found. Sometimes I think is she still alive but afraid to come forward bc she doesn’t want to incriminate anyone?! I guess time will tell or not. For some crazy reason Lauren’s case always reminded me of the movie Gone Baby Gone.

Have the police looked into the parents again? I can’t help but wonder if they had something to do with it and concealed it very well. I hope I’m wrong.

This week if you go to the Charley Project homepage, Lauren is featured. She was such a sweetie.

The mother is deceased and the sister disappeared into the drug world to the point that LE has not been able to locate her for questioning. After a podcast was done listing all the known facts and some more recent ones, I chose to believe she was moved elsewhere by family members and is living her life privately and not wanting to have contact. The only other thing that bugs me is the Pennhurst graveyard and the almost viciousness on the part of the township towards anyone wanting to go investigate that scenario any further. I honestly think there is something that one or more individuals or organizations want to keep under wraps, like perhaps there are a lot of bodies in unmarked graves due to the horrific conditions and abuse.

I agree with your assessment Tracker.

There are now drones that could fly over that area that have LiDAR technology that could indicate where graves potentially might be. That might be enough to be able to get a warrant….perhaps.

Amateur opinion and speculation only

The potential for numerous bodies in unmarked graves would make any possible plans for redevelopment very costly, cause significant time delays for investigation and clearing the area or redesigning to avoid it, and be a huge problem that LE would need to acknowledge and investigate.
Was the area around the Schuylkill River in that area searched at the time? If she were taken from the Vincent Motel via vehicle (no tracks, lost scent), she could have ultimately been taken to the river for disposal. When the area isn’t in drought, the river is deep and fast enough to carry things away…

In June of 2006, I came up with the idea of writing a series of articles on cold cases in and around Phoenixville. Three came to mind, the still unsolved 1954 murder of Marguerite Keota, the murder of a Boy Scout in East Pikeland in the 1970s and the 1988 disappearance of Lauren Jackson in East Vincent Township.
Being the most recent of the three, I opted to start working first on Lauren's story. Although it began as the first in a series of three different cases, it began to take on a life of its own.
I started my quest for information by poring through dozens, if not hundreds, of old newspaper articles, and for anyone who has ever done so in the offices of The Phoenix, you understand it's a grimy, dusty job. I don't think I stopped sneezing for a week.
Many of those articles were written by Lynn Berry, who up until last year was the editor of the Moscow Times in Russia, and provided me with the basic information I needed to be able to start a search.
The first person I was able to find, with the help of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, was Retired Agent David Richter, the lead investigator on Lauren's case. Agent Richter - who now has a PI business in West Chester (Cloud, Feheery and Richter) - was most helpful in providing me with background information about the case and about the family.
My goals were to find Lauren's father, Mickey - which I did - and find her mother, Christina - which I did not.
