A 77-year-old Howard man has gone missing in Centre County, and state police are asking the public for help in finding him. Leon Bowman, of Howard, is believed to be “at special risk of harm or injury, or may be confused,” according to the Missing Endangered Person Advisory that state police issued Tuesday. He is listed as 6-foot and 110 pounds, and is described as gray and balding with a beard.

Leon Bowman, 77, of Howard, was last seen on Dec. 23, 2024.

Search efforts on Wednesday discovered that Bowman had last been seen between noon and 4 p.m. Monday (23rd) near his mailbox on Howard Divide Road, according to police and a Facebook post by Howard Fire Company. He was previously last seen at about 11 a.m. on Dec. 16 in the area of Bowman Camp Road, the initial MEPA stated.

Absolutely my first thought. I’m 5’7 and I weigh more than 110 and I’m like actively trying to gain weight to be a healthier weight. 6 feet tall and 110 would definitely catch eyes.

Very worried about this gentleman. Very rural area with huge bodies of water. There's a state park nearby that has some pretty gnarly terrain.

Press release from PSP Rockview released today. They're asking property owners along Howard Divide Rd and Marsh Creek Rd to check their properties including garages and sheds.
