Gang initiation in Philly maybe, but not out here with this young woman in this area of PA. JMO.

Ita!

This was a sexually motivated crime having nothing to do with a gang affiliation, imo.

But if she was wearing stockings then she wasn’t barefoot as the article says
Um it's possible the stockings were inside the shoes.

Do you have a street address in. Ronks ? I couldn't use your link, an ad pops up and blocks it.

Same here. I saw where it was news out of Nigeria(?) then a SPAM window opened (Your Software May Be Out of Date). Not clicking on that again.

I'm sorry. Last time I quoted an article trying to be helpful to another member who could not see it, I was dinged for a copyright infringement. :(

However, this article has a good amount of detail about the locations, and it isn't coming up with the ad pop up for me. So, this maybe helpful?:)
Justo Smoker Charged With Kidnapping Linda Stoltzfoos, Amish Teen Who Disappeared After Church in Pennsylvania

On the same day, police interviewed Gideon King III, who reported passing a similar red, four-door on Amish Road about the same time. He too, saw a female passenger with a white apron and black head covering, and said he thought it strange to see a plain woman in a car in her church clothes...

By this point, the red car was a clearly a vehicle of interest, but it would take one more witness and the video to tie that vehicle in Gap more directly to the girl’s disappearance.
Turns out that on Tuesday, June 23, another person had called police about a suspicious vehicle in a business lot at 3104 Harvest Drive, near the village of Ronks, about 5 p.m. and someone looking in windows and doors as if to see if there was anyone there. The driver left, but returned later that evening.

This site is about three miles away from the Stoltzfoos home.

Thanks for this, that's one of the better articles I've read so far. Really sums up things well. It wasn't anything "new" to me, but it definitely was a good comprehensive compilation

"... between 12:30 p.m. and 12:45 p.m. on June 21. Esh, who was sitting on his front porch, noted the car in part because the driver stopped and turned around to head back west on Stumptown in the direction of the church."
I wonder if when he passed Beechdale headed east on Stumptown, he saw Linda in the distance walking down Beechdale, as there's a pretty good line of sight at the beginning of the road. Then he'd have passed Mr Esh again this time headed west, and turned on Beechdale. He'd have passed her, and pulled in to Mill Creek Road to wait. When she was close enough he got out and confronted her and forced her into his car. Then they continued on Beechdale past her house and on down the road.
IMHO MOO

That was a good one. Wow, it sounds like he was kind of trolling and waiting to ambush a victim.

Respectfully, I disagree. No they wouldn't at this juncture for there is no need for them to do so.

It's very common now in murder cases for LE to arrest the suspect on other charges in order to hold them while the hunt for his vehicle, and Linda continues.

The DA can add additional charges at any time which imo, they will add murder charges, and possibly aggravated rape if the evidence they have showing she's been harmed has not only her blood on it, but his semen.

Jmho

Thanks. For your helpfulness I will ask for more if you don't mind educating me. TIA

Question 1: Is a kidnapping charge (with an adult victim) usually enough to ensure that the suspect will be held without bond? It doesn't seem like that would necessarily be enough. Therefore, if I had more charges at the ready I would want to add them on.

Question 2: If LE has the evidence, what is the harm in charging the suspect with something more and revising, as warranted, later? For instance, I'm aware that in some cases a suspect is charged with Murder 1 and its later changed to Murder 2. There doesn't seem to be any issue with making such a revision. In fact, it seems to occur pretty frequently, IMO.

A little premature, no?

Maybe that is the case but if there was evidence of such JS would have already been charged with something beyond kidnapping. IMO

They wait as long as possible because once they charge, the clock for a timely trial starts ticking. I think they may be waiting to see if they find her body soon, and he is going to stay locked up in the meantime so he isn’t going anywhere.

“The car in question had left before Pennsylvania State Police answered that call, but the caller had taken the license plate: It matched Smoker’s car. Police noted the caller also took photos of the inside of the vehicle, though arrest records did not state what they showed.”
Interesting... I wonder what the photos of the inside of the car showed.
It’s still unclear if the car is in custody or if they are still searching for it due to conflicting reports.

So if he got rid of his car somehow, he might have an accomplice, at least to the disposal of his car. I doubt he called Uber after he did whatever with it.

Well, I would talk to the brother that he has been in trouble with, and I suppose they have. Who else would assist him and not tell about it. Unless whoever assisted him also participated.

There are several witnesses in this great article Gardenkeep, thank you. One witness even took pictures of the inside of JS's car without being seen. Good for them. From what I gather, Linda Stoltzfoos was abducted about 12:45 pm on June 21st. and it was not apparent that she was missing until 11 pm. on June 21st. She was gone for 10 hours before anyone knew.
