PA - Lindsay Cassidy, 23, & Kolby O'Brien, 3, found strangled, Chester, 28 March 2008

Everyone is way off base. Read my earlier posts and go from there-I am sure they are close to the truth. Also, pay attention to the news tomorrow-some answers may be forthcoming.

Why don't you recap it for those of us who obviously don't know as much as you?

KatK, No disrespect intended. I posted my theory early on and refer to it again. Also, Blink wondered about the lack of news coverage and I have an idea that there may be some word tomorrow.

My theory is a drug induced psychotic break that ended in the perpetrator killing him/herself. I am betting that the mother was naive and trusted a friend whom she should not have especially since the friend brought along a boyfriend with a criminal past.
So this is your theory? The boyfriend did it? When I think of a psychotic break...I think of things being in disarray, confused, violent, and unnatural responses...not a triple homicide then a suicide done so cleanly. No way.

Yes, well...I guess we will have to wait on the news tomorrow and the tox screens.

KatK, if the landlord happened to be involved...he would certainly be able to come and go as he pleased while none of them were home. The window could have been left open a crack because he wasn't sure how long the bodies would be in the room and he wanted to air the place a bit (he wants to be able to rent it again asap). OR they could have opened the window themselves during the course of the evening. It doesn't have to be related to the crime (which I don't think it is). Also, you are assuming that the people weren't alone when they died. I think they were. Poisoning doesn't require a perp to be anywhere near the scene.

Still, how does it explain suffocation as the COD for the mother and baby?

I think you will eventually hear that Mother and son were murdered and the couple overdosed, probably intentional. I have heard that both Lindsay and the baby were last seen sleeping. I think the male or even both the male and female tried to engage her in some sort of sexual activity which she resisted or somehow else went bad and she was killed, probably strangled. The noise attracted the baby and he was (wow this is sad) smothered to keep him quiet. LE says the place was "neat and orderly" which makes me think TOO neat and orderly. Like it was cleaned up and when they realized the gravity of their crime, they killed themselves. Or one killed both of them. Or they accidentally killed themselves, which seems unlikely since if they intended on staying alive, they'd have left the place.

I don't believe anyone jumped from a window, too high and concrete below. There were cameras-all entrances and exits would be recorded. So a jumper would have been seen entering but not exiting. Maybe the couple figured that out too-hence the suicide.

Or, is this the scene you mean? Shades of Meredith Kercher?

Exactly. Hopefully we will know soon.

I don't see it. It is only *just* possible, but I don't see it... It doesn't fit.

Indi- I'm calling you out. Everyone should enjoy some anonymity here, but I dare say you are close to this case. As you are clearly skilled with multiple resources; I'm inviting you to:

Let's enjoy your work on a case you may not be familiar with. (Yes, I totally have an agenda:) )

The broken record chimes in, hold your ears. JMB was the son of a man in a double homicide in 1985, same year he went into foster care with his brother. It may not be relevant to the COD in this case, but I am certain there is a bigger story. Not a word from the adoptive parents is important.

Has that been officially confirmed, or is that still just the best we WSers can figure? I just don't see both a mother and child apparently dying in their sleep with no signs of a massive struggle evident as someone just snapped/had a psychotic break and killed them.

which part are you asking for confirmation on- there was much talk early on with specifics.

This part:

Blink, Read any of my old posts-I have followed several cases closely-one in June of last year. I am an excellent detective and that includes developing sources close to the case. The news stories are often inaccurate or slightly off on details, which mean EVERYTHING when you are trying to solve a mystery-crime or otherwise. I try to consider that the simplest scenario is usually the real scenario.

Blink, The thread you directed me to is closed. I will nonetheless read it-it will take some time as it is VERY long. Is there another place to post on that case?

Blink, I read the first page of your case and he obviously froze to death and is somewhere nearby. Wait until thaw.

  • #236
I was watching the local news this am and they said that the DA will have an announcement later today about the case.

If the the DA is involved wouldn't you expect foul play?

He was found and there is nothing obvious about his case. Thanks for taking a quick look.

Indi- it is because I have read your posts that I invited you to review Mike's case. In the event you have time to, you should note that everything your saying above is exactly true and factors in his case, thus the reach out. That being said I'll take your props that I was correct that you are "close" to this case.
I look forward to updates on the case later today.
