DREXEL HILL, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — The search continues for the person who stabbed and killed a 15-year-old boy Friday night. The Delaware County Fraternal Order of Police is offering a $5,000 reward for anyone with information that leads to the arrest of the person responsible.

Michael Garr, who was a sophomore at Upper Darby High School, was stabbed around 9:30 p.m., on the 200 block of Bridge Street, according to police. A portion of the street was briefly closed overnight for the investigation.

A neighbor said she heard a man screaming for help. The man had told her that Garr was banging on his car, bleeding. Neighbors and responding medics tried to revive him but the teen was pronounced dead at the scene.

“It’s terrible. It’s a disgrace where we are in society with kids,” Upper Darby Police Superintendent Tim Bernhardt said. “How do you get to a point to where kids this age can commit an act of violence like this? There are no words to explain it. Our hearts go out to the family. We ask that everyone keeps the family in their hearts and prayers.”

Police have not released information on any suspects. On Sunday, Upper Darby Police tweeted a photo of a couple they wanted to speak with in connection to the investigation. The couple was walking hand-in-hand on Bridge Street and passing Anne Street at 9:39 p.m. on Friday, according to police.

Anyone with information on this homicide is being asked to call Upper Darby police detectives at 484-574-1157.

A different witness now sought:
As a Delaware County community continues to mourn a 15-year-old boy who was stabbed to death, police are searching for another person who may have witnessed the incident.

On Tuesday, Upper Darby Police released video of a person who they want to speak with in connection to their investigation. The individual in the video is not considered a suspect or person of interest.

From NBC10 reporter Deanna Durante:

Charges filed, presser today at 2 PM EST. BBM.
District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer and Upper Darby Police Superintendent Tim Bernhardt will announce charges Wednesday afternoon in the murder of 15-year-old Michael Garr. You can watch the press conference in the video embedded on top of this article starting at 2 p.m.

Marson Weh, 23, of Clifton Heights, arrested. Already in prison in Ohio.
Weh was taken into custody and refused to cooperate with police, officials said. He was then extradited to Ohio where he pled guilty to the unrelated assault and stolen vehicle charges. He was then sentenced to 9 ½ years in prison on those charges. He will later return to Pennsylvania where he'll face charges of criminal homicide, murder and possession of an instrument of crime in connection to Garr's death, investigators said.

Police also executed a search warrant at the Clifton Heights home where Weh was seen leaving. They submitted evidence from the home to a Philadelphia Police crime lab. Police said the evidence linked Weh to Garr's murder as well as an unrelated incident on Feb. 7, 2023, on the 100 block of South Bishop Avenue in Upper Darby in which a pregnant woman who was with a child was attacked and stabbed as she exited her vehicle. Her vehicle was later stolen and recovered in Clifton Heights near the same home that Weh was spotted leaving from, investigators said.

The criminal complaint states Weh, a 2019 graduate of Upper Darby High School, was a member of Juniata’s Class of 2023 and participated with the Eagles football program until he was dismissed from the college for non-payment. Police say Weh returned to his home near Philadelphia but was asked to leave by his parents.

Martin told police Weh reached out to him for help and he gave him a place to stay while he got back on his feet. Martin told police he asked Weh to leave about two weeks prior to the incident after suspecting Weh of illegal activity.
