PA - Missing Fayette County 9-year-old Renesmay Eutsey found dead; Adoptive parent charged, September 2025

DUNBAR, Pa. — The women currently facing charges in the death of their 9-year-old foster daughter in Fayette County will face additional charges after another child from their home was hospitalized.
[...]
The evaluation results showed that a 6-year-old in the household had been subjected to “severe child abuse and neglect,” having a purported body mass index of zero, officials say. The child is still in the hospital in stable condition.

Even worse, IMO, is that, in this case, the two monsters who murdered her were blood relatives of Renesmay’s biological parents, per the WTAE article linked above. The bio mother did the exact right thing by giving up custody of her children while she battled drug addiction, and she is (IMO) 100% entitled to be furious that the folks at CPS who should’ve been monitoring her children’s wellbeing—and especially Renesmay’s, given her special needs—apparently neglected to followup for an extended period of time with deadly results.

I personally think it would be in the best interests of children if foster parents were required to enroll any children placed with them in a public (or private) school, and not permitted to just “homeschool” them (as these two monsters claimed they were doing, but likely not really doing). At the very least, this would give a few more people the opportunity to observe/monitor the foster children’s wellbeing and raise the alarm if the children seemed to be poorly cared-for.

The one that hurts me the most, is Mildred Old Crow, put in custody of "family" due to neglect and abuse.

Little girls don't just "vanish". It was like no one cared about her. She never had a chance.

I hadn’t heard of Mildred’s case. May she now be resting in peace. Some “family” she had, huh? The Taryn Summers case really got to me - her own grandmother was to be caring for her. :(

The boy remains hospitalized in stable condition. Aubele said he had a body mass of zero.

Regarding Renesmay Eutsey’s death, Shipley is charged with criminal homicide and conspiracy to commit criminal homicide. Kourtney Eutsey is charged with homicide, abuse of a corpse, endangering the welfare of children, aggravated assault, tampering with evidence, and concealing the death of a child.

Renesmay's death may have saved her siblings lives. May both these women rot  and may the 6 year old hospitalized recover. Horrible people. I'll never understand why people go out of their way to adopt children if they hate children?

A body mass index of ZERO pains me to even think about it. That would take deliberate, ongoing effort, imo, for the adult to have a child in their care that malnourished. Wouldn't it be easier just to feed the child?!?

Not looking for an answer. Just incredibly sad there are such cruel people in the world.

Good. DP is currently under moratorium in PA, but death row still exists. From the article:

Citing a criminal complaint, the Post-Gazette reported that the foster child who allegedly told police they saw Eutsey and Shipley harm Renesmay claimed they witnessed the foster parents “[kick] her in the stomach” after hearing a commotion outside their bedroom.

[…]
PEOPLE previously reported that Fayette County District Attorney Michael Aubele said investigators found signs of abuse while performing an autopsy on Renesmay’s roughly 45-pound body, saying the girl appeared malnourished with bruises and burns.

“It is very apparent that this girl suffered,” Aubele said, according to local WPXI.

I’d honestly rather the money that would go into prosecuting this case as a DP case go instead to supporting the children of Fayette county who desperately need better resources to monitor their well being. It’s such an impoverished county and has so few resources, and money is a finite resource. Millions of dollars in one death penalty case could go instead to additional caseworkers and training and treatment for parents to get their kids back, instead of a symbolic death penalty when we haven’t executed a woman in almost 30 years in Pennsylvania or executed anyone in two decades.
