Even though the distance between were Cherrie went missing and where Penny Doe was found (an hour) Cherrie would have been 14 if she was still alive in 1990 when Penny was found. They are now saying they believe Penny was between 22-29. I also believe she was ruled out but not listed on NamUs.

I have spoken with some people that are close to Alicia's case. They were told she was ruled out, even though she isn't listed on Penny Doe's NamUs profile.
Yes, she was. Looking at old emails, I've got Alicia being ruled out in 2003 (well before NamUs).

When I was talking with Alicia's high school friend a few years ago that is looking into her disappearance, I think she also mentioned Penny Doe to the PA State police and they told her she was ruled out.

I wish NamUs would post ALL the rule outs of on their pages to help us keep track :)

I also wish I kept notes on all my pet cases.

Penny Doe's NamUs profile was updated on 9/28/23
She doesn't have any new rule outs, but I am wondering if they aren't close to identifying her.

Here is the current list of rule outs.

it must be a difficult match.

The case of Penny Doe is fascinating. Why did she have a penny in each of her jean pocket-possibly as a good luck charm? Her skull is unique because of the high cheekbones and those perfect teeth. I wish my teeth were as good as Penny's. In my opinion, she came from an upper middle class household because her teeth had no cavities or decay. One of Penny's teeth on the upper right side, though, was chipped but I think that happened when her killer beat her since the right leg was broken. Her death was so brutal and so sad.

I also think the title of this thread should be updated with Penny's new age estimate of 22-29.

Bumping. No new exclusions. Hopefully this is the year Penny will get her real name back.

I found a recent update someone did. I think they might be waiting on funding or something to do DNA genealogy, if I understood the video correctly.

I am local to this case and in the last two days I have seen this story being floated around facebook looking to refresh memories and bring new eyes to the case. It was started by one of the people that found the body.

Does anyone have any updates on whether she has been submitted for DNA genealogical testing yet, or if funding still an issue?

The first thing we learn from the report is that Dr. Dirkmaat determined in 1991 that Penny was somewhere between 22 and 29 years old. This is different than what has been reported previously. Penny Doe’s listing on NamUS, the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, lists her age range as somewhere between 20 and 40. This is likely due to the reporting on the case back in 1990. Sometimes a police officer will tell a reporter an opinion, and it just sticks. So now, for the first time, we can confirm her age range is much narrower.
Penny’s NamUS listing also shows her height to be 4’ 10” tall. Dr. Dirkmaat’s report shows her estimated height to be about 5’ 3”. Again, early estimates of Penny’s height were given to the press, and that has become gospel over time. But, now we know her actual height.
My next step is to find a lab who can extract Penny’s DNA from a sample from Dr. Dirkmaat’s curated bones, test it using a method that’s compatible with genetic genealogy, and upload the results to GEDMatch. The next time I update you on this case, that’s what I’ll be doing.

Does anyone have any updates on whether she has been submitted for DNA genealogical testing yet, or if funding still an issue?
It seems from the 2022 article posted above that they were proceeding.

The recent video I posted above said he is waiting to maybe do a fundraiser to get money to send it to a genealogy lab. I haven’t seen anything newer than that. Has anyone else?

With that distinctive bone structure, she looks a lot like Christine Pelletier. Missing since July 21, 1988 from Montreal, Quebec.

Sorry I'm new to this case. I saw other pictures of her with blonde hair? Which is she naturally? Also when comparing the faces I think Penny Does face is longer and narrower with eyes closer together and higher cheekbones. Although Beverly's name has been in this thread for 3+ years, has she ever been compared to Penny Doe?

These are the only pictures of her. The other pictures were a mistake when I was trying to find photos. This is her school photo. Not sure what year, according to her relative. She was submitted but I haven’t heard anything about a rule out.
