My quote button doesn’t seem to work or it’s me, but to respond to someone earlier... As far as Dad goes, he is a very young man, thrown into the worst of circumstances. I can’t even imagine how I would react in front of a huge crowd there to mourn my daughters heartbreaking loss. He obviously didn’t mean he thought everything happens for a reason. He’s trying to make sense of this like we all are. He is doing his best. IMO
It's not you- my quote is messed up, too. It takes about three or four tries to quote and reply- the other three times I get led to some page from the ads running below on this page, even though I am not clicking on them. Annoying!

Well I finally figured out that you have to hit “insert quote” for it to work. Duh!

Normally all you have to do is hit the reply button that should insert the quote you’re replying to at the beginning of the box that opens up for you to type. It’s a little hit and miss these days though. You can also do it like you just mentioned. Hit the +Quote and then hit insert quote in the new post box.

Ok thank you! I’m used to posting on a parenting board where you hit quote. But I get the reason behind the features here. So you can quote multiple posts. Thanks for the tips and bearing with me!

3) As was posted earlier, Sharena Nancy has court records documenting multiple traffic infractions. I will look and try to locate them.
4) IMO, the OP was either getting her/his info from the SM rumor mill or had located the court records on Sharena Nancy and was confusing Nancy with Nalani's mother.

Driving me crazy trying to figure out what SN could of purchased at Sheetz. Someone mentioned on another group a scrub brush? Want to see what you guys think and if they sell those at Sheetz.

God awful question- wasn't there a bad rain storm one of those nights poor Nalani was out there?

Yes, Sunday evening, it was a hard rain storm lasting several hours. Powerful lightning strikes, flash flooding in some areas.

Funeral Services Held For Nalani Johnson
Nalani Johnson was laid to rest today at Mount Ararat Church in Pittsburgh.

“We can’t believe she’s gone, a lot of people are just in a daze like, ‘Why’d this happen, why her?'” Asked VH, a family friend.

It was a sad farewell and her viewing was followed by a funeral.

Me too. It’s just such an odd way to hold something. I’ve never seen a scrub brush At Sheetz so I don’t know.

I asked my daughter and she said it looks like a scanner like they use in Giant grocery stores. Do uber drivers use anything like that? Like a handheld scanner kind of device?

This is why we can't trust anything reported to the media right now. For a Medical Examiner to say basically "hold on, put the breaks on, I never said that" tells me a lot.

The DA saying she wasn't exposed to the elements- that didn't come from the coroner, did it? This is what can be confusing. I get that the DA said that because LE and those who worked hard to find her are traumatized by the horror that she might have been left out there alone to die. However, the ME's statements have me wondering which way this went. We'll have to wait for another 6 weeks to get the answers.
IMO Zappala did imply in the interview that he has met with the Coroner and they discussed some things not including the pathology tests. Starting around -5:00 in the video Zappala says they have eliminated exposure, trauma and there were no ligature marks so strangulation is eliminated. From what he said I think they are considering suffocation and Zappala seemed to link that to the tests the forensic pathologist will conduct.

The article also stated:
The Allegheny County DA said he's working with Indiana County's District Attorney Patrick Dougherty and Coroner Jerry Overman and they met to discuss the case Wednesday with Allegheny County Police, Pennsylvania state police and the FBI.
My bolding.
IOW, it sounds like Zappala and the coroner did meet and some of what he shared in the interview did come from that meeting. Zappala qualified his statements though in saying more will be known after the tests are complete and the coroner releases the final report. I hope they can expedite those tests!

From the article:

[…]

A deputy coroner and his cadaver dog found Nalani’s body Sept. 3 in Pine Ridge Park, Indiana County, almost three days after her father, Paul D. Johnson, 21, told police she’d been kidnapped. Her body was cremated before the service.

[…]

Mount Ararat Church Senior Pastor William H. Curtis addressed his eulogy to Nalani’s family, saying her death “has pushed you into a deep pit.”

The death of the child “confused you about God; it confused you about life; it confused you about people,” he said. “You cannot be expected to have answers to the questions from well-meaning people.”

Cause and manner of death must have been very clear if she was so quickly released to be cremated. IMO

I’m struggling to understand how a woman who is essentially a stranger to this poor baby girl could kidnap her, and leave her strapped into her car seat in a park to die...did she think she would be found and everything would be ok??? Or was it her intent for her to never be found???
RIP Nalani

Plate-reading technology is only resourced when a crime has been committed, and it is simply another tool in law enforcement’s tool box to bring criminals to justice.”

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is testing digital license plates.

"If you think of your standard metal license plate as a flip-phone, this is the smart version of that," said Alexis Campbell, the press secretary for PennDOT.

PennDOT has equipped 20 of its departmental vehicles with digital license plates. Unlike the current plates, the digital versions allow information like vehicle status or emergency alerts to be displayed in real time.

"If there's an Amber Alert in an area, that information can be broadcast to all of the digital license plates that are in the area where the Amber Alert is in effect to help share that information more quickly," Campbell said.

While the pilot program continues, PennDOT officials said there are a number of cities in other states that have already implemented the option.

Lawmakers would need to pass legislation to allow digital license plates to be an option in Pennsylvania.

The plates cost several hundred dollars.

IMO, based on news info, Nalani was already dead when SN left her in the park. It would have been much easier to carry just Nalani (and not as odd if someone saw SN carrying Nalani), and dump the carseat elsewhere, which makes me think RM had already set in. I am quite sure LEO would have told Nancy being charged with kidnapping was far less of an offense than being charged with murder. I believe she was sticking to her tale of kidnappers, hoping they wouldn't find Nalani for awhile because she knew she was dead.

When we lost my sister in a horrific way at a very young age, the family received a number of platitudes such as "Everything happens for a reason," etc., which were unintentionally very, very hurtful.
Fortunately, a friend recommended 'When Bad Things Happen to Good People' by Harold Kushner.
Additionally, there are several good articles on the web which cover both what NOT to say to someone who is grieving and what to say that will not bring unintended pain to the person.

@rkendmar I'm so very, very sorry that this happened to you and your family. Heartbreaking.
