To the family, though, the idea that Gricar would walk away never made sense. He was close to his daughter and his nephews. He was in apparent good health and was preparing to retire with a substantial pension.

At year's end, he would be free to go wherever he wanted. What would be the point of walking away in April, and where was the evidence that he had done so? None of his clothes were gone, and there had been no activity on his credit cards or bank accounts.

Not if the threat was real and RG knew it to be so. If the individual was telling at that very moment what a loved one was doing and threatened you to this, that, or whatever. You are going to do it!!!

Such a threat would involve people storming the Courthouse and transcontinental coordination.

Further, how would RFG know that the threat was real? The only way he could know what his daughter was doing, 2,500 miles away, is to call her.

I think it has been established that his heirs would get his pension, so there is a financial motive.

Didn't necessarily have to be his daughter you know.

Not getting to see his daughter graduate, get married, and possibly him enjoying grandchildren, enjoying retirement, seriously outweighs any financial benefit to his heirs.

Come on......

I've often thought that some type of a lover's quarrel could have developed.

I have, too - and have thought of the possibility that it could have been with PF; or it could have been with another individual. But, I have dismissed that notion almost entirely, because again; where's the evidence? A lover's quarrel that develops, heats up, and ends up with one party missing...pretty quickly you have 'something', because a crime of passion is hard to clean up.

I admit that one of my very early theories was that PF was soley responsible and the whole Bellefonte police force was covering for her.

I can think of a six or seven digits worth of reasons.

Without the cover-up part, my first suspect was PEF.

She was accounted for the entire day. It would take just over two hours to drive to Lewisburg and back, in favorable conditions, and additional time kill someone and hide the body. She doesn't have a two hour gap.

I don't believe someone else was running around Lewisburg in a Ray Gricar mask.

Yes she was accounted for the entire day. However, seeing as how she had close ties to the Bellefonte PD, if it were an 'inside job' an alibi would be pretty easy to fabricate. That was part of my theory - that the whole timeline 'we' were aware of was off completely because the PD put out false information to cover for PEF.

Lol. Running around Lewisburg in a Ray Gricar mask made me think of:

"Imagine a giant cockroach with unlimited strength, a massive inferiority complex and a real short temper tear-a$$ing around Manhattan in a brand-new Edgar suit. That sound like fun to you?" -Tommy Lee Jones Men in Black.

The BPD will have exceedingly little influence with people in Lewisburg.

The "Patty done it conspiracy theory" ended up involving half of Centre and Union Counties. :)

LOL at the Men in Black reference.

Snipping (and still LOLing at the Men in Black comment).

The question would be "where" the crime occurred. I'd doubt that it would be in a motel room, but if it were at a vacation home, that would be possible.

True, and true. Lol. I guess people were grasping at anything to explain, as we still are. For the record, I no longer believe that theory.

Lol...your comment about running around in a Gricar mask took me right there.

It was bandied about a few years ago and collapsed. It did for me when I found out where she was between 5PM and 8PM on 4/15. Great theory, made perfect sense, and a perfect example of a theory I had to discard because the facts got in the way.

Well, it was either a Gricar mask or his animated corpse.

4/16 is the question for me, at this point.

A suicide, says the retired police chief who first presided over the case.

http://articles.philly.com/2011-07-31/news/29835864_1_investigators-retirement-plans-ray-gricar

That is what Zaccagni's chief said, 6 years later.

"To me," Zaccagni said, "it looks more and more like a homicide by someone who planned this out, lured Ray to a meeting, got him to bring the computer, and then took the time to do something with the body so it wouldn't be found."

http://articles.philly.com/2005-09-...ide-theory-dirt-parking-lot-susquehanna-river

And here his what Zaccagni said around the 7th anniversary:

Zaccagni, in television interview days after the disappearance, said he believed Gricar was dead. He received a lot public criticism for that interview, since there was not evidence of Gricar’s death.

Today, he has settled on one of the other major theories: that Gricar committed suicide shortly after abandoning his car, destroying his computer and walking away from his life.

Note that the rest don't say murder.

Agent Smith:

I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species. I realized that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You move to an area, and you multiply, and multiply, until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet, you are a plague, and we are the cure. --The Matrix

Looking at the motels in the area, there are 61 in a fifteen mile radius of the parking lot in Lewisburg (according to my mapping program). Most are along the Susquehanna. About 6 are around Danville, and there are 2-3 in the smaller towns not on the river.

None of those are in the Central PA media market.

  • #840
Out of those 61, 50 motels are in built up areas, and several are small B and B types. It would be impossible to move a body unobserved.

The ten (and I don't know if they still exist) are:

Lewisburg:

Best Western (RFG was spotted near there)

Allenwood/Montgomery:

Greentrees Motel
White Deer Motel
Northwood Motel

(All along Route 15)

Selinsgrove:

Hampton Inn
Comfort Inn

Danville:

Quality Inn
Travelodge
Days Inn
Red Roof Inn
Hampton Inn

(Around the I-80 and Route 54 interchange)
