Was he represented by private attorneys or the public defender? Either of them might already have a lien on the properties. I wonder if there's any law saying a victims family's lien takes precedence over attorney fees?
Plus he probably owes back taxes and those always get paid first. After all the fees involved in doing this I wonder if there would even be much money left. Maybe that's why there's no attorney on the case.
